Our stay at Visnes Hotel Stryn felt like a peaceful journey back in time. The hotel has a cozy and bright atmosphere that reminded me of staying at my grandmother’s house – warm, welcoming, and full of charm. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We arrived very early due to our bus schedule, and the staff kindly let us leave our luggage even before check-in time, which was a big help as it was raining and nothing nearby was open. The staff was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout our stay. Highly recommended for those who love nature and authentic Norwegian charm.

If I could wish for one thing, it would be a bit more variety at breakfast — but overall, it was a lovely and heartwarming stay.

1- Very helpful and polite owner at the front desk. He really made a great effort to make our stay great 2- Great location. Clean rooms with fresh clean towels and nice collection of soap and lotion. The family room in the barn was newly built and smells fresh wood sandal 3- The hotel is a big vintage style house that looks like the ones from the victorian era. This makes it really charming 4- We experienced some minor technical issues in one of the two rooms we booked, but the moment we informed the owners at the front desk, they resolved them all very quickly. Very attentive and responsive owners

1- Hotel buildings have no AC. I would not consider it important since weather in western Norway is cool all year long and opening the window can make the room temperature suitable. However, noise from the near road was annoying 2- Breakfast can be improved a little bit. For example, having more hot dishes and more varieties will make breakfast very good

Very charming hotel that captures a bygone era. Nicely appointed rooms, salon, library and dining room. Nice long outside porch for seating in front. Staff was very friendly. Wonderful dinner meal offered in hotel. Wish our stay was longer.

Hotel is hidden off street so finding their driveway was a bit of a challenge but we finally found it. Better signage at the driveway entrance would have been helpful. But the remainder of our stay was fantastic!!

Beautiful charming hotel, rooms match the old world charm. Breakfast was really delicious with tons of options, the onsite restaurant was lovely and good wine on offer. The owners and staff are so friendly and eager to make your stay wonderful.

Its an old building which means lots of creaking floorboards which would normally be fine but the people in the room above us were up and walking around their room all night, but especially from 4am-7am and it was so noisy and kept me awake. Not something the hotel could've predicted/prevented but just a note

The hotel has so much character and charm and the staff is extremely helpful. The rooms were large and we really liked free parking right at the hotel. The breakfast was great with lots of choices and good coffee. What was really surprising was the delicious dinner they served, the best meal we had in our 14 day visit to Norway, yet at a great price. We would not hesitate to strongly recommend this hotel and will stay here again if our travels take us to Stryn.

The only issue we had was the lack of an elevator, however the hotel staff took our bags to the room and back down again when we left. For us, this was not a problem.

Visnes Hotel Stryn was absolutely beautiful! We had a gorgeous room with a private balcony. The beds were very comfortable and the shower very nice. The owners and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming! The breakfast is amazing with local and homemade items. It is an easy walk to the town. I would highly recommend!

Outstanding in every way. Think of a large chain hotel and then think the opposite. The hotel has been run since 1850s but carefully renovated without removing the quaint old style vibe. From the moment you walk in it feels like home (as it has been in the last to Royalty). No issue for us, but there are only stairs so you will need to carry your bags up. Great drying room if you need it. The rooms are lovely - spotlessly clean, lovely little balcony and large bathroom/shower with excellent shower pressure. There is a super nice trail that runs from behind the hotel with lovely view along the way. Not very challenging but a lovely walk - maybe and hour is so up and back. Easy to get to more challenging hikes - just ask at reception. We did the walk to Raksetra (drive 10mins and maybe 90 mins round trip with spectacular views of the fjord from the top. The dinner we had was exceptional with service to match. Exceptional. Breakfast was also superb. Plenty of choice - Norwegian, freshly baked breads, if you want, eggs and bacon done just right and pastries, high quality condiments etc. We wish we could have stayed for longer.

the hotel is super charming and very well maintained, in a great central location. the owners are absolutely wonderful, very attentive to our needs and gave us lots of great tips. the chef even made special dishes to meet our dietary needs.

Lovely historic hotel with original features. Room was very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Did not have evening meal as decided to walk into Stryn.

Outlook from hotel is onto a transport business, some lorry movements during the night. There isn't anything the hotel owners can do about this though.

The front desk staff were great. The restaurant was top notch for dinner and had a wonderful breakfast with everything you could want. Bed was comfortable and bedding was nice. Nice location on the lake.

Understand that It’s an historic property with period furniture which has both good and bad points.
