We had an amazing stay at The Backyard Inn! The location couldn’t have been better—right in the heart of everything, just a short walk to the beach (where we caught glimpses of the sardine run and turtles) and close to loads of great restaurants. Our wooden cabin was surprisingly spacious, and the AC was a lifesaver in the heat. The whole space had a laid-back, cozy feel that made it easy to relax and feel at home. The staff were fantastic—both at reception and the bar. The reception team helped us book a tour, which was super convenient, and most nights we ended up hanging out at the bar during happy hour, always greeted by a super friendly bartender who made us feel welcome every time. The stay overall was amazing, and we genuinely loved it. Our only tiny complaint? A particularly vocal chicken that seemed to be on a mission to wake the whole area every morning 😂 If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs—or grab the ones they thoughtfully provide. Would 100% stay again. Great vibes, awesome people, and the perfect base to explore the area!

Great location, modern facilities, and awesome social vibe with the bar onsite. Staff are welcoming and also very helpful arranging transport on your behalf, as well as activities (e.g. canyoneering, scooters) as well as providing other local recommendations.
Unfortunately at the monent there are roosters/chickens next door that make quite a lot of noise in the middle of the night and can keep you awake or wake you up if you're staying the bamboo huts. In fairness this is probably outside the control of the owners as the noise is coming from the neighbouring property.

The hut is really nice and rustic. It feels like a cozy cocoon. The small bathroom is quite practical given how simple the hut is. I could really relax. The bed was comfortable. It had a plug right next to the bed. The AC was not too loud (although I did not use it a lot or during the night). The staff was helpful and the breakfast options all very tasty. Happy hour is definitely worth it! It was easy to meet people as they've created a nice hangout space without it being solely focused on partying. There was a nice mix of ages and backgrounds. The bar is inviting but doesn't stay open too long which means you can enjoy a quiet night.
There was not really any hot water (warm at best). This was the case in every accommodation I stayed at though. When reading the room description, I though there was a desk in the room. This was not the case. They have lots of seating options in the public space, but I needed to do some work in the privacy of my own space. The terrace isn't really private either. There is only 1 small (and uncomfortable) chair and nothing to shied you from the view of the common areas. But this led me to meet people so it didn't bother me too much. A rooster started chanting at 3 a.m. every night. But this can't really be helped in the Philippines.

We had a wonderful 2 days in Moalboal. Upon arrival at the hostel, we were received with great hospitality by the owner, Andreas. We stayed in the big dorm which was very pleasant, there even was a little fan in each bed so that the aircon doesn’t have to work 24/7 (we find that ridiculous in other hostels, too cold, bad for environment..) for if you want to take a nap during the day :). Andreas also advised us in choosing a diving school and he himself accompanied us on the dive as our diving instructor and we had a great experience with him. Well can recommend the Amigos dive school also!
The only suggestion would be to please advise guests (or hang signs) to move to the bar/hammock area after 10/11pm or so, so that people in the big dorm can sleep since that area is a bit loud otherwise.

We stayed in one of the private rooms with our own bathroom. The room was basic but clean, and had everything we needed. The staff were so nice and helped us with everything we needed. We were able to rent a motorbike from the hostel which made it much easier to get around. The hostel offers drinks and some basic food (drinks were super cheap!) and there are also heaps of great restaurants nearby. The common area has hammocks and beanbags, with some card games provided. Overall the place had a very homely feel, and we would happily come back to stay again.
The hot water system in our shower was very difficult to use, and there wasn't much water pressure - but not a major issue, as the weather was so hot that a cold shower was honestly so refreshing.

Staff were incredible (main point for sure x) Location was perfect Whole place was very beautiful Good vibes Rooms were clean and nice - private bungalow was so sick
SO noisy, even with earplugs. Wasn’t even necessarily the people, even just the cars on the road and the bloody roosters! Also water pressure in the shower was so bad I literally couldn’t wash my hair. Also kind of wish they had more facilities like a pool or even breakfast service

I felt at home at this simple, relaxed beach hostel. The one large dorm was decent. Beds have a privacy curtain, socket and basic plug-in light. There was a nice hammock area to chill out in and I spent a whole day there reading and hanging out. The owners also bought bean bags so those are there now! Staff were really nice and friendly, as were the owners. They made me feel at home. The location was really good - a couple of minutes from all the food places and dive shops, and 5-10 minutes on foot from Pangasama beach.
The only minus for me was there is only toilet for the whole place. That gets tricky when the dorm is full because at night and early in the morning you end up waiting, which is a problem if you are sick, on your period or desperate for a poo:)

This was my first place I stayed in the Philippines and I absolutely loved it. I was pretty cranky when I arrived from my day off travel, but they had decked out my room with flowers for my birthday. It was so beautiful. They helped me with my onward journeys and also recommended things to do whilst in town. I booked my Kawasan tour directly with them and it was three best day ever. Thanks so much guys I told everyone in the Philippines how great you were :)
My Aircon was a little sluggish but it worked in the end and I had a great nights stay :)

Room Very Spacious, the inn is private & quiet, WIFI excellent, the bed & toilet area is spotless, staff is very helpful & friendly. AC can improve more & no problem with numerous wall plugs for your gadgets and also Outdoor Showers & CR available. If you are on a budget they also have Dorm Options. Over-All Experience of stay is commendable!
AC can improve but if you have a low cold tolerance like me - it is already sufficient. Great place to stay during Off Peak Season. For sure it will be on full capacity during summertime.

Customer service was amazing, Clean, comfortable great location to taxi bikes or tue tue. Had all the options, if you wanted rent a any type of bikes then they could arrange it. Improvements i would suggest is adding dark and stormy cocktail to their extensive list and beer hosters to keep beers/ drinks colder for longer, it doesn't seem to be a thing in the Philippines but most definitely should be. I want to thank you for making our stay so a great one. I would like also give a big shout out the man that should me how to fold a towel so that it takes less space when doing laundry 👍.
