This is a lovely quiet and unique friendly hotel that offered everything you need for a comfortable stay. We loved the location in the heart of the historic old town a minute walk to the church and bridge. Plenty of nearby bars and restaurants. The breakfast was adequate and provided choices for all. I loved the fresh yogurt with chia seeds and flax seeds with fresh fruit, my partner loved the scrambled eggs on toast- everything you need to start the day- with a lovely pot of tea. Appreciated the offerings. Our room was cosy rather than small but very cute- we loved the bathroom area with curtain across. It was fun. The carpark is convenient and free with a lift up to street level.would recommend to anyone staying in Amarante. We had a car and found more offerings in Amarante for exploring the Douro valley . Pinhao was disapointing

Cosy room but expected in such a lovely building. Would have appreciated tea facilities in room.

Location is perfect, everyone was super nice and it was good to have a pool in the heat. The place has a super nice café with a terrace overlooking the river and the indoor seating has A/C, which was a life saver during our stay.

The glass door to the bathroom. Transparent glass. It let all sounds through, so you really get to share your experience. To top it off, it rattles loudly when you open it, so you can be sure to wake your partner in the night. This place should have been a solid ten, but the bathroom door takes it down a bit. When we went from the booking app to google maps for direction, it led us to a location some way up the street. No big problem, but not perfect.

This hotel has great staff. The receptionist was very welcoming, helpful and spoke brilliant English. He was happy to offer restaurant recommendations which no-one does any more. The morning receptionist asked us if everything had been OK during our stay. This is a first for us, a hotel which actually cares to ask if you had a nice stay. So well done. Our room was lovely, just big enough, with air con, a comfortable bed and a great shower. We also had the bonus of a small balcony from which we enjoyed watching the sun go down over the river. The room had a fridge, fancy coffee machine with two free pods, free bottled water and free toiletries. All very much appreciated. Location is great, it is right in the center of town. And while this means they do not have a car park, there is a large, free car park located just down the hill, below the hotel. You can park the car, then take the lift up, and walk two minutes to the hotel entrance. Very convenient. Breakfast was beautifully laid out and delicious. We throughly enjoyed bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast, with great coffee. We would return here again just for the breakfast, and the lovely staff.

Such a pleasant and beautiful place. The hotel is artfully designed with modern amenities, great views and perfect location to walk to the old town or newer areas. Breakfast was delicious and in a lovely room overlooking the river. Best of all was the staff, friendly, helpful and went beyond to deal with our missed night (due to flight delays), missing luggage (held it after delivery while we were out), and Rita willingly offered to mail a few forgotten items to our next hotel, and wouldn't let me pay postage. Highly recommend!

The location is perfect if you want to visit this nice little town on foot. It is central, One can walk along the river and the streets of this town. Our room was small but I knew that it would be like that . The nice surprise was the big balcony that made the room feel spacious. We felt very welcomed by the staff, Vidal, Andre, and the others that I am sorry that I do not remember their names were all very kind and helpful. The breakfast table had everything you needed including warm dishes.

Since it is in the middle of this small town, it was complicated to find the hotel at the beginning. Also, for the same reason they do not have parking but there is a big free parking near by with an elevator to street level that enables to bring the luggage.

The location is wonderful and the building is beautiful. Staff is very kind and professional, 5 stars to that. Breakfast was nice and diversified, and I recommend doing it outside on the varanda if the weather allows it. Amarante is a cosy littke town that I visit often and I particularly enjoy the riverside so the location was very convenient.

One thing I noticed is that on the ceiling near the bathroom on our room was, what seems to be a old exit sign not in service that wasn't removed... Nothing terrible, just strange. I did not like the fact you cannot fully open the windows or doors to the balcony.

Cosy little hotel, right in the middle of the city! Super comfortable mattress rooms are okay, not the biggest, but for a few days, it is enough. With access to the Tamega River. I enjoy my running first thing in the morning, which is the perfect excuse to admire the enchanted views for endless kilometres. Breakfast is great, I love the delicious fresh cutted fruit, plain yoghurt, and lots of fresh bread and coffee/tea choices 😋 Everyone was very accommodating.

Open wardrobes, I like to hide my staff. Toilet paper, very basic type. The toilet heavy metal door, in such small space. And not enough hooks to hang stuff

The hotel is centrally located with well appointed rooms. The staff are friendly and attentive and help with your every need. Breakfast is is nice with a continental offering but the staff are happy to meet your requests.

As this is an updated historic hotel the room sizes vary greatly. While the hotel cafe and bar are open late it does not have kitchen staff 24/7 but this applies to the rest of Amarante as many restaurants are not open every day.

An extremely pleasant boutique hotel, very well designed for both enough privacy and interaction with other guests (very friendly atmosphere, I may add). The staff was wonderful and very helpful with suggestions about events (like a huge merchants’ and farmers’ market), restaurants and places to go to. The breakfast was simple but with all the needs and enough variety for a sustainable morning meal. The cosy atmosphere was really appreciated. A very well-run place indeed 😊. The large backyard lawn with the swimming pool (small as it was) was a very relaxing place to lounge, and enjoy a drink or a simple sandwich. We really enjoyed our stay. Its location is perfect to visit the centre of Amarante, a very charming town indeed.

Fantastic location, around the corner from the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso museum, S. Gonçalo Monastery and lots of good restaurants and tempting patisseries. The hotel offers very pleasant areas and a lovely terrace over the river. Staff are genuinely nice and helpful. Very unpretensious but quite pleasant breakfast.

Staircase with 80 steps from the public parking lot to the street where the hotel is located and the elegant lift (also public) didn't work all weekend. :-(
