The location is great. It is a 30-minute walk to the coast, generally a nice area.

The WIFI situation is not great, generally, wifi nowadays is provided for free almost everywhere in the world whereas here you only get complimentary wifi for simple browsing not enough for streaming or watching videos. Also, you have a nice modern TV in your room however you are not able to 'stream/cast' from your own personal device onto the TV. This is quite poor.

Okey, this is going to be a long one :) Overall comment is that we were extremely satisfied with our stay - the rooms were clean, the staff beyond friendly, polite and professional, the breakfast absolutely fantastic! The pool area small, but enough - clean and nice. When we first booked the hotel I was looking for something to spend the last days in Los Angeles near the beach, just relaxing and doing basically nothing, maybe just walk on the Venice beach and Santa Monica Beach. I was looking around and in Santa Monica the prices were ridiculous for the rooms that you get. So I looked further and found this little gem, a bit further away, but hey, we are a family, not young party-hippies :) So we reserved it, but a little while later saw people saying that it's not great area, nothing to do or see there. So, this is kind of true - if you are looking for sightseeing, then this is NOT the area for you. Yes, Venice beach is close, but it is not walking distance close. You still have to take Uber or taxi. And for everything else, if you don't rent a car. Personally, I think renting a car and paying for parking in the hotel and in the city would have been cheaper in the long run, compared to taking Uber. But to the point - rooms are really clean and nice (they do charge extra if you need room to be cleaned during the stay, which is perfectly good!), staff is beyond friendly, the hotel looks elegant and cozy at the same time and the breakfast is just amazing!! We loved our stay here. Yes, a bit pricy, but well, everything is more expensive in USA.. So in general, we have stayed in many hotels, hostels, motels from 5* to 1* and we were very happy with what we got. :) Oh yes, besides the shopping center just around the corner with cinema!! ;), there is another one with Crumbl cookies a bit further in Marina del Rey with a beautiful park, fantastic Grocery store and artisan chocolate shop. Thank you, it was an awesome stay! :)

For us, everything was perfect :) We just wish we had visited during summer or a week before in spring, when the weather was better, but that has nothing to do with the hotel :)

Location was excellent with walking distance to Pavilion grocery next door and many other shops within a couple blocks. Nice balcony to sit on and get air. Staff accommodated request for upper floor. Slept well, in room coffee maker, everything I needed. Environment &,room was clean & staff was friendly.

It’s a bit older and could use some updating. No free coffee in lobby but I do believe they gave me 2 free bottles of water on arrival and in room coffee is available. Water pressure is low in shower which makes it hard to get soap out of hair. If it’s adjustable I wouldn’t know because nozzle is too high out of reach. I was comfortable and would stay again even with these small annoyances. I also did a lot of walking as the 1 elevator on my side and main lobby was a distance. If you have mobility issues, talk with staff about shortest distance room.

The room was great, we liked the bathroom and shower. The hotel location was perfectly situated for travel to and from our planned destinations. Plenty of nearby parking. The adjacent shopping centers were great. We enjoyed Barbianca restaurant and bar. The room services were impressive, we saw personnel working all day it seems. It's a great family atmosphere, we saw a lot of kids enjoying the pool, ping pong table, games, etc. It was a great all-around facility.

There seems to be a low-intensity sound coming from outside our window similar to loud air conditioning that took a little getting used to at night. There was some construction taking place right at the doorway to the pool which was blocked off with plastic sheeting which caused us to detour the other way around to the lobby, which was a minor inconvenience. The Business Center was down, having some technical issues. I needed to print out some reports from my email account, but the Front Desk was very helpful in getting my reports printed out, I appreciated that. These were just minor issues as far as I was concerned and did not distract from my overall positive opinion of the hotel in general.

All the furnishings in the hotel, in my room and the room's bathroom are expertly appointed. The view of the pool is gorgeous. The exceptional and meticulous care of the landscaping inside the hotel property AND in the parking lot is impressive. Beautiful indoor-outdoor setting in the lobby and restaurant area. Always wonderful. Very attentive front desk.

The main elevator was without any and all indicator lights, the whole time we were there. Hallway carpeting on 5th floor is buckling and could be a trip hazard. Lamp shades in the lobby (one of the large pendant lights) and in my room (at the bed) were crooked which could be noticed and adjusted by someone who should be paying attention.

The room was clean and had all the amenities for our short stay in LA. Location is close to Venice, Santa Monica, shopping centers, LAX and all major highways to explore more of LA. Starbucks coffe and the warm cookies are always a plus when staying at a double tree!! Bonus was including a towel for our baby, which was great as most hotels typically always forget. Would stay here again. The pros definitely outway the little cons!

The bar/pool music could be heard from our room until 11.30pm - midnight. Had to call reception to turn it down so we could sleep. Cost of parking ($28 + tax per day).

The property is very well located, there are all sorts of restaurants and stores within a walkable distance. We spontaneously decided to add another night at the end of our trip because we were so happy with the hotel and it is so close to the airport as well which made our last day very easy and stress-free.

All in all everything was great. The only unfortunate thing was probably just a misunderstanding. The last night of our trip (when we came back for a second stay at the hotel) it was Thanksgiving. We were told that there was still room service available until 10pm. My husband went out to see if there was other options of food a available as well, knowing we had a back-up option at the hotel. When he came back at 8:30 and tried to order room service we were informed though that the kitchen was closed. As mentioned I believe it was a misunderstanding and just due to the fact that it was a holiday.

Heating was good, except a little noisy when kicking on. Beds were good. Coffee machine worked well. Lighting and plugins were good. Room was quiet. TV had a good picture. Overall a nice room.

i didn't like the timed bathroom light. Went off too soon. Think the shower door was mounted backwards, because their were no grab bars in the shower. Temperature good but water pressure a little low.

I've stayed at the MDR hotel three times now, and each time has been a delight. - The staff are super friendly and helpful. Everyone from the check-in desk to housekeeping are always ready with a smile :) - The rooms are simple, but clean and well equipped - The beds are super comfortable - USB chargers by the bed - Desk for working - Front desk will give you cookies and bottles of water if you ask nicely :)

Friendly staff. Front desk team was wonderful! The lobby is pretty. Pool area looks great. It was too cold to go in.

First floor room sliding glass door to parking lot was uncomfortable. No view. Daily parking fees were expensive & having to use a new ticket to enter daily is inconvenient - it should be one ticket (in or out) throughout the stay. No Bellman on staff.. No water in the workout area.
