The staff were excellent, providing great service, being friendly, and transparent about delays due to a lack of staffing, which I believe is important. The staff was very accommodating. Everyone was very helpful! The grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. It was close to the beach, and I appreciated having the cafe for coffee and snacks. The restaurant offers a great variety of food, hats off to the chef. There are many places to eat around the resort, and it has a great walking path around the beach. Have several animals on-site, great experience for kids. I would not recommend the "Pacific Beach: view, it really is of the parking lot and off to the left..and no sun, I would recommend the Mission Bay view with the sunny side.

Many things are broken, and there appear to be temporary fixes are on a lot of things: a stain on the couch in my room, the sliding door has corroded parts, lots of chips on furniture, and the gym has broken equipment. Some updates could go a long way. I wasn't happy to see "kitchen gratuity" on all my food bills, which takes away from the tipping opportunity that I enjoy. Perhaps paying the kitchen staff adequate wages and not putting that on the customer to offset. Would have appreciated awareness about events going on prior to my stay. The Laua would have been a great event to attend, but sold out days before I arrived.

The hotel is well located if you want to be near Mission and Pacific Beach. However, the facilities are quite worn and outdated, and the air conditioning was very loud. On the positive side, the view is fantastic, especially if you stay in the tower rooms. A bus stop is very close by the hotel, with direct routes to La Jolla and the city center, making it very convenient to get around without any issues.

The hotel feels quite outdated. The furniture, décor, and overall facilities are worn and in need of renovation. Even the air conditioning was noisy, which added to the sense that the property hasn’t been modernized in a long time.

We’re upgraded to a room with view over bay which was stunning, great room, big lounge, separate bedroom, 2 massive TV’s. Hotel entrance stunning water features and carp.

Relatively minor, slide door on room to balcony was very stiff, wife couldn’t open it. Cleaners didn’t take glasses (from bar night before) or replace dirty glasses from room. Some staff were uninterested in serving, one was quite rude, although the guy in the front desk was absolutely excellent (wish I could remember his name).

The room location was wonderful. We had a great view of the bay as well as activities outside our window. The trade off was the noise that went on until the wee hours of the morning. People having fun and enjoying themselves - which is good for them. But not so good if you're looking for a quiet spot to sleep. The trade off was worth it though.

We did not have shower soap when we arrived. After reporting it to the front desk, we still didn't get it and we had to go looking for it the next day. Showering with shampoo worked just fine, but having the liquid shower soap would have been nice.

We were put in a room that had a dirty dog, musty, urine smell originally. The staff however was very responsive. Lorenzo sent Mohammed and crew to shampoo the carpet which led me to believe it was a known issue. The smell persisted and they graciously moved us the next morning. They should replace the carpet in that room. Other than that it was a great stay therefore I would recommend.

The location was perfect. I was a solo female traveling & I was 100% comfortable at any hour of the day! The staff is beyond polite & accommodating. Food at every spot in the resort is quality if you don't wanna venture. But the bartenders- they're exceptional! Again solo female going in late for that last cocktail and they were personable and all around service focused. The Bayfront king suite rooms are the way to go, the view is exceptional and stunning. Tower room/ resort views are tricky. If you get Bayfront view you are good if not and you get partial ocean/ city view rooms, it's an entire vibe change! It's just the way the property is laid out. Property is well kept with a Polynesian vibe. Cannot wait to come back.

Randy from the front desk is Amazing, he is so friendly and competent. What a pleasure he is and an absolute treasure for your company. the entire front dest team is awesome, definitely top tier customer service. also, I absolutely have to mention Maria from room service, evening shift of the 16 and 17th ,what a Beautiful young lady, so kind and considerate, with a brilliant head on her shoulders. even your grounds man Steve was an absolute joy to speak with. Top Notch Team, for sure.

no complaints, only suggestion would be maybe a lil more lighting at night,,it's so beautiful, just a shade or 2 too dark. still beautiful tho.

The Catamaran is an icon in San Diego. It captures the feel of Hawaii with water features and lush tropical plants. The restaurant and bar are just great. It is right on the bay and has gorgeous views. We had an older room, but it was fine- clean and comfortable with a small kitchen. The grounds are extensive and the pool is great. Is the property showing its age?-Yes, but we loved that nothing much has changed at this hotel over its historic existence. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. We live in the San Diego area and this is a favorite staycation spot. Any recreational activity is available and you can walk everywhere. We get a little tired of the big box hotels with their huge fancy lobbies but small cookie cutter rooms. This is one of a kind!

Our final bill included a $40 charge for a beach towel??? It is frustrating to have to call the hotel and request they remove the charge. We had to have the discussion with the billing department as to whether we checked it back in with an attendant. We had to explain that we checked out 4 towels from the machine using our room key and when we left the pool we placed them in an unattended bin (just like everyone else)- there was never an employee to check back with, nor a facility to recheck the towels through a machine. We even joked with other guests about how silly the process was.

Amazing location. Tons of food options and smaller touristy shops, as well as a 7-Eleven and Ralph's grocery within 5-10 minute walk of resort. The beach was also within the same distance, or the hotel opened up on the bay. We opted for the bay most days because it was calm and relaxing and the water in the bay was actually just a tad bit warmer than the ocean. Room was clean and comfortable, and all the staff we interacted with around the property were very friendly.

The first full night we stayed, the pool area was quite dirty. Remnants of food everywhere as well as discarded cups in the pool itself. I don't think this speaks to the hotel nor staff, so much as the guests staying and their lack of care for a public space.

I absolutely love the Catamaran Resort and Spa!!!! I have stayed here before and it is the perfect location. I did rent a car, but you don't need one. Everything you could want is within walking distance. Pacific Beach is phenomenal, a 2 minute walk, #22 lifeguard station . You're right on the bay, gorgeous views all around. The pool is fun, the water activities are splendid and the food, oh yeah, delicious. They have a luau every Tuesday and Friday, live music too. The resort is lush and tropical. Birds, coy and parrots.. oh my. I'll definitely be back!!
