Shakya house is now my family. Came here last month as a guest and left as a family. This time on booking.com i did not need to look any where else. Straightaway got a positive response. Requested airport shuttle and Sajjan made it possible to get it a at a very very cheap price. He was even up early morning and communicating with me as soon as i landed and at every single step from there onwards. Received me personally and made sure that i get the maximum comfort. Just loved it

My stay at Shakya House was part of my incredible Nepalese volunteer experience. I lived for a month and a half in this facility that became my home, my safe place to recover from the chaos and rainy season. I am grateful for the beautiful people I met here: all the staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, always ready to fulfill any request and make you feel part of their amazing Nepali community. The location is perfect, I highly recommend to choose Patan instead of Kathmandu; it's definitely more authentic and less chaotic and it's easier to go everywhere from here. I am sure that my adventure would not have been as positive without Shakya House. Can't wait to come back!!

- individual aircon/heating in each room. I actually didn’t really even need it most of the time but it is nice to turn on briefly when it is the coldest time of morning. - each bed has heating blankets and warm fiber fleece throws on the mattress which is super nice. - hot water very hot. - property well kept. Even curtains are fresh and free of dust. - the staff is super nice. The general caretaker (who also makes breakfast) is a nice young man with a lot of energy and seems to love taking care of guests. I really appreciated his help. - staff greeted me warmly and even gave me a gift and Khata upon checkout. Very sweet. - breakfast simple but decent.

Very comfortable stay, I extended twice. Traveller needs are taken into consideration and a secure and restful experience is curated. Walking distance to durbar square and dokha. Homely food (upon request). Great staff and owners who took my needs into consideration and made sure my stay was comfortable. Its a great base to explore Patan from.

Nothing. Any issues were promptly resolved. Maybe a electric kettle in the rooms especially since almost all hotels in nepal provide one. But it wasnt a real issue.

Shakya house is a family run guest house by Mr Hema, his Wife Shanti and their son Sajjan. What a beautiful family and what a lovely service they provide. It is right that you come here as a guest but leave as a family. I had stayed here for just a little over two weeks in a deluxe room. Prior to my arrival I emailed them as my flight was arriving very early and got a very quick reply and they happily accommodated me for the extra 6 hours free of cost. Right from the beginning I was very warmly welcomed by them and their team members Rana and Manica. They showed me to a very comfortable room which has all the amenities and was very clean, tidy and spacious. Throughout my stay each and every person made sure that they do their best and offer the best service to the customers. I was at times late or very early for breakfast due to my work commitments but without a wrinkle on their forehead or even asking any questions they set up the service just for me. From very simple things they made sure that I feel at ease and I sure did. In simple terms I am glad that I chose Shakya house and now I have a family to look to in Nepal on every single trip I will make in future. Having lived all life in UK it is not easy for any simple guest house to meet the expectations but Shakiya family exceeded all of those. Lots of love and respect to Mr Hem, Mrs Shanti, Sajjan (he truly is a friend- Sajjan means friend), Rana and Manica.

I liked very much my spacious room full of daylight. The bed was comfortable and I appreciated working table as well. It was short walk from the main plaza in the neighbourhood. The staff was always ready to help. In my room wifi signal was not very stable, that could be a little suggestion to improvement. I would stay again if visiting again Katmandu.

Shakya house is unique and historic. Incredible hosts and beautiful accommodations close to Patan’s Durbar Square.

The only downside was being kept awake by barking dogs. This is not the owner’s fault, and if you’re a good sleeper this would not detract from the beautiful accommodations. But for a light sleeper like myself it was a drawback. This issue is common in Nepal.

Not only was the room very clean and comfortable, but also the staff were very, friendly, especially the gatekeeper who wanted to help us immediately when we had trouble finding a coach for the next day. Even though the location was a bit more remote, it wasn't so bad, especially since the big sights are in Kathmandu and you have to take a taxi anyway. Patan Durbar Square was only a 10-minute walk away.

The accommodation was rather in the more remote part of Lalitpur, which meant that you lived in the middle of locals. As a result, all sights, except for Patan Durbar Square, which was only a few minutes' walk away, could only be reached by taxi. The breakfast offered there had a smaller selection of the typical breakfast cereals.

The location is just perfect! The rooms are exactly as pictures show. I would like to say it huge thanks to the Shakya hotel team specially Rana who was always there if you needed something. The team members are very helpful and kind. The food is excellent! Thanks to the chef! This was my first time in Nepal with my friends and I had an amazing time in this hotel! Thank you for everything!
