We spent 11 days at Juna Mahal, a charming and historic residence tucked away in the bustling heart of Jodhpur's bazaar. Our spacious, clean, and cozy room had a small balcony and access to a terrace with beautiful rooftop views, where we often spotted groups of monkeys. Despite being centrally located, the hotel is peaceful, hidden away in a small alley. Breakfast was good, and the kind chef prepared delicious Indian vegetarian dishes, even late in the evening. Room service worked perfectly, and the young staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful. The owners and team spoke good English and offered great assistance.

Exploring the surrounding bazaar on foot was very challenging due to heavy traffic, constant honking, petrol fumes, and stray dogs. We mainly experienced the area from tuk-tuks when arriving or leaving the hotel.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Juna Mahal Boutique Home stay in Jodhpur, and it was one of the most memorable stays I’ve had in India. The homestay is set in a 472-year-old heritage house, beautifully preserved and located right in the heart of the old city. The atmosphere is rich with history, yet the place is incredibly well-maintained, clean, and welcoming. The location is fantastic—it’s very close to the train station and the adjacent bus station, making it easy to reach for travelers. The airport is also nearby and can be reached by rickshaw in under 30 minutes. However, since the homestay is deep within the narrow lanes of the old town, cars cannot reach the doorstep, so you’ll need to take a rickshaw from the main road. Thankfully, rickshaws in Jodhpur are very reasonably priced and fair—unlike in some other cities, they don’t try to overcharge tourists. The family is happy to arrange transportation for you, making the journey smooth and hassle-free. From the moment I arrived, the family made me feel at home. Before my trip, Jimmy, the son of the family, personally contacted me on WhatsApp to confirm my arrival time, and when I got there, he was waiting for me, personally welcoming me and even carrying my bag from the rickshaw—a small but thoughtful gesture that made for a warm and memorable start to my stay. Earlier during my trip, I had injured my knee, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. A young man named Arjun was particularly helpful; he carried my heavy bag all the way to the top floor when I arrived and again carried it back down to the main road when I was leaving, even hailing a rickshaw for me to get to the airport. Traveling alone with an injury can be challenging, but their attentive care made it much easier. I stayed in a top-floor single room, and the view was absolutely breathtaking—you can see the entire city from there.

Beautiful building and a cute room. Staff was helpful and kind. We needed to leave before breakfast to catch a train, but the staff made us a breakfast sandwich for take away. The room was located facing the indoor patio, which made it super peaceful for sleeping. AC and shower worked very well. The hotel has a nice rooftop were you can enjoy great food and drinks.

The hotel is located in a narrow street next to the small shopping street, which can make it difficult to find the exact location (if you become easily overwhelmed with the busy passage). It will be more convenient for the taxi driver to drop you off a little bit earlier, so you can walk towards the hotel or take the tuctuc. The hotel made direction indication signs, so look for these hanging up. There is a small fence in the beginning of the narrow street, which you can open manually and sweet dogs are laying in front of the hotel entrance. Do not be afraid, as they are really calm and most of the time just sleeping.

Excellent old time charm of a 500 to 600 year old building that has been renovated with modern amenities as a 8-room boutique hotel. Great views of Mehrangarh Fort from the terrace. Fairly decent restaurant on the terrace. Good choice of six preselected menus for hot breakfast. Very friendly staff and service. They will haul away all your luggage all the way to your room and back up and down the stairs.

As you may expect, it is a 500 to 600 year old building so it is located in a very cramped part of the town that is accessible only by autos. Cars cannot go. But fear not, the autos in Jodhpur are built and configured to take large suitcases at the back so no issues there. There is no elevator of course and the height of the stair steps is a bit too high, maybe 12 inch steps. So it is somewhat of an effort to go up the stairs to your room. But the staff will haul all your luggage so all you have to do is take yourself up the stairs.

Juna Mahal was absolutely gorgeous inside - to this day, one of my favorite buildings in Jodhpur architecturally. The staff were INCREDIBLY nice and friendly. There's no elevator, but they carried all our suitcases up. The rooms are just as pictured if not more beautiful. Everything was extremely - almost excessively - clean and taken care of. We had absolutely lovely breakfast on the terrace with a wonderful view. Everything was very cheap and quite yummy. I have very warm memories of this hotel.

The bathrooms are... EH. Out shower was barely lukewarm (not an issue as the outside is quite warm) and had very little pressure, and on the whole the bathrooms were probably the weakest part of this homestay. This homestay, similarly to all other hotels in the Old City, doesn't have car access. Keep in mind you'll need to call a tuk-tuk to get there. It's only a short 10-minute ride away from the main tourist-oriented shop district, but keep in mind you won't want to be walking there. The homestay is definitely located in a more "local" part of town - which I personally didn't mind.

Our hosts were warm and welcoming. Our train got delayed by 10 hours and we got to the haveli pretty late, but they still welcomed us! The home cooked meals were great! You get the view of the blue city from the terrace, would recommend checking out the sunrise. Our host also offered to speak to the tour company driving us from Jodhpur to Udaipur and convinced them to take us to Ranakpur Jain temple, which the tour company hadn't originally agreed to. Truly enjoyed our stay.

Since this is an old house, sometimes we didn't have access to hot water, which is okay because of the weather. But would have still liked hot water.

Beautifully old heritage home with great individual rooms (whoever did the lights was a genius) and a lovely roof terrace with views of the fort.

Unfortunately the location isn’t the best. Make sure you get a Tuktuk and not a taxi because taxi drivers will not take you there. Walking home at night is not advisable because there are many street dogs and it didn’t feel safe. While this is nothing the hotel has any influence on, it is still worth knowing beforehand.

Our group of four had the pleasure of staying at a charming haveli-style homestay in the heart of Jodhpur, and it was a truly delightful experience. It felt like we were living within a piece of Jodhpur's rich heritage. The owner and the staff were exceptional in their friendliness and attentiveness. They went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and provided valuable insights into local culture and attractions. Each morning, we were treated to a mouthwatering breakfast featuring authentic Rajasthani cuisine, making our stay even more memorable. In summary, our stay at this haveli-style homestay in Jodhpur was a delightful blend of comfort, authenticity, and warm hospitality. It allowed us to immerse ourselves in the culture and charm of the city while enjoying a clean and comfortable retreat. We would highly recommend this homestay to anyone seeking an enriching experience in the Blue City.

Everything was perfect

We stayed two nights at Juna Mahal in Jodhpur. Our hotel manager, Jimmy, took care of everything: he carried our bags upstairs and brought water to our room. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant serving delicious Indian food, and you can even order Indian wine. A transfer to the airport was also organized for us. The hotel and our room were both beautiful and clean, and the area is very quiet in the evening. We can definitely recommend this place!

It is a beautiful heritage property. Owners have carefully curated the rooms with decor. I stayed in a Family room with a balcony which offered a great view. Plus the rooftop cafe and terrace are beautiful as well. This homestay offers all the necessary amenities. The location is great, and the majority of attractions are nearby within walking distance. I with my friends had a pleasant stay.

WiFi speeds are really slow. Mobile data works better than their WiFi. Plus disclaimer for people travelling with senior citizens that stairs are steep and no lift is available. Otherwise, it is a beautiful heritage property that is well-maintained.
