Thank you to the kind staff. This is my second stay here, and I think it might become my go-to hotel in Kokura. Great location nearby the entrance of the covered shopping street that connects to Kokura Station. It was raining on our arrival, but because of the covered shopping street we could walk leisurely, and stop for lunch at a great pizza restaurant on the way. On departure, we decided to take the monorail back to the station, and it was also great, fun view, convenient, and cheap way to get directly into the station plaza. The rooms here are old, but fashionable in a Victorian way, and made of quality materials. The entire hotel feels very clean and well taken care of and the small Japanese garden is excellent.

Small details could be fixed. They need to replace the beading on the tile in the bathrooms. It's way beyond its useful life and could be fixed easily by just re-calking it. It also felt a bit weird to be in a beautiful Japanese garden with an Ed Sheeran song blasting on a constant loop as the wind moves through the trees and the koi make their rounds through the pond ^-^ Not that any of that would stop me from staying here again. Overall we loved it.

I really liked this hotel. Beautiful gardens you can stroll around or just admire from the cafe-bar. The rooms were huge by Japanese standards, and elegant in an old-worldy way. Hotel doubles as a wedding venue, and you can wander around the function areas or event visit the wedding shop if you're curious.

Just a few small touch ups needed in the room like fixing chipped paint and replacing silicone around the bathtub, to stop it feeling a bit tired. Otherwise, great stay.

I loved this location a lot. It was clean and beautiful, but rustic like a Victorian house. I loved the garden views from different places around the hotel, the privacy of the garden and hotel from the outside world, and the calm, peaceful atmosphere. The koi fish were adorable, and the walking path was nice. This is the best staff I've ever met; I wrote them in advance about a health condition, and they did their best to accommodate me.

It exceeded my expectations in many ways, but I wasn't expecting it to be rustic. I thought that 'art hotel' meant there would be lots of modern sculptures and contemporary painting. It felt like I was in an old Victorian house, which was pleasant, but a bit of a surprise. Maybe it's not a dislike, but something I wish the website could've explained better that 'art hotel' means 'rustic Victorian-style hotel.' Actual dislikes included low thread-count bed sheets and Japanese-style pillows.

Coming from an artist, I can say this is a hotel where things are made well out of real materials, and in an honest way. The room we stayed was something like Japanese and Victorian mixed, and we loved it. It is not new, but everything was well done, and the small garden was really quite spectacular. A very good example of a Japanese garden.

The music in the garden, haha. But really. Everything was above what we expected!

It is cheap and good value (HK$400/night or US$50/night) for a twin bed room. The staff are nice. There is no free parking but you can find a lot of paid parking with a good value (300-500 yen for overnight) If you have breakfast, the hotel restaurant has a wonderful garden scenery view and very relax.

New and spacious! The family room that I booked and stayed was on its own on the entire floor - separate wing in the hotel ( hard to explain). It has 2 double beds with enough bed linens to sleep 4 easily. Beautiful hotel but missing a public bath and on site parking

Breakfast was superb. Top notch buffet with views over the hotel's lovely garden. Location a short walk from a monorail stop. 15min stroll to castle via the lovely Old Tanga Market. Very comfortable stay.

Hotel's style was sort of faded french, done quite well but doors clashed when opened. Not a serious criticism and shouldn't put anybody off.

Great beautiful hotel! Very luxurious for the price! Which was a pleasant surprise when we arrived after 2 weeks of hostels haha. Location is great, close to everything you might need or want 😁

No private parking, and street parking isn't the cheapest.

The location was perfect! We discussed coming back for the same location and enjoyment. With family here in Japan, we definitely will!

The room itself was so comfortable, including restroom, living area, etc. It was tight moving about the room, so the size could have been bigger, but not a problem for us.

The garden landscape was excellent. Providing a wonderful setting for any event. Room was more then adequate, providing most necessary amenities. Buffet was above average and delicious. Value to the dollar, excellent.

Reservation made with view of their spectacular garden. Unfortunately, the view is obstructed by a ledge that extends far enough out that you barely get the view that you were anticipating.
