Good view from the lake facing room. Buffet meals were good but can feel repetitive. Helpful staff.

Rooms are clean but could use an update. The floor was uneven and recessed heavily in some areas from wear. Poor ventilation in the bathroom.

I’m really not sure why this hotel has such a bad review score. We stayed in a Japanese room overlooking the lake which was massive and had a beautiful view in the mornings. Parking was immediately outside the hotel and was free, although you had to hand your key to the valets (you get a receipt). It’s a very good location. The breakfast is astonishing. Japanese hotel breakfast buffets are often pretty impressive but this one was in a different league. You do have to be up early to enjoy it though. There are three sittings and the last one is at eight! There are a few niggles (detailed below) but overall I really enjoyed staying here

The bathroom, as noted by other reviewers, is a bit cramped and dated looking. I can see that some people would find the onsen also a bit dated. I actually quite liked it but then we were in the area mainly to hike rather than use the baths.

Everything about this is hotel was wonderful. Loved the atmosphere it was so peaceful like living in a spa. The buffet provided us with a wide variety of options including western gourmet cuisine. There was a shuttle to the Wings Hotel onsen which was the largest onsen we have been to with beautiful views from the outside pools. Parking was easy. So many places to visit nearby. We loved our stay at this hotel. Would definitely return.

I wish I would’ve picked a lake view room.

The room was newly renovated and spacious and great view of the lake. Near to the forest walk which was great and the ferry terminal. Quiet though as it was off peak but it was a great break. You get access to the sister property for the onsen which i did not do it but I think it will be good too.

The meals was a little boring as I stayed for 2 nites so repeated eats but the food was good and tasty. Maybe more fruits? I guess no one stay for more than 1 night but they have a cafe attached which opens for lunch and night but did not ry.

The location, the view of the lake, the modern and spacious room, the friendly staff, most of the buffet. The hotel seems to have two categories of rooms - the old ones, still stuck a bit in the past... where some of the criticism on this website apply. and the new ones, having all the comfort and perks you would expect from an hotel in this price range - I had one of the latter ones, and was very happy with my stay.

I am not a big fan of having to take a shuttle to get my car... but there is simply no parking nearby. The staff was super friendly and helpful with luggage though. The in-house onsen is a bit too much old school, and could use some TLC. Finally, the buffet was very good in quality and quantity (the tempura and karaage are great); but there are no heating devices...so better come for the early service.

When we first arrived we were assigned to a older more traditional room. After discovering a minor issue in the bathroom, the front desk manager quickly put us in an updated room that suited us better. The location was perfect! I had no idea when booking this hotel that the hiking and ferry were right in back of this hotel! The breakfast and dinners were excellent and exceeded our expectations. I have food allergies and the staff were so kind to walk me around all the food options to share what was safe for me to eat. Also, each entre had a card with all the food categories checked off.

Upon arrival we were fortunate to find very kind staff to assist us with our room and meals. However, I discovered not everyone was as inviting as they were. For example the young lady in the gift shop hardly looked up from her phone and I was surprised because I have never seen this behavior in Japan. Plus there were other front desk staff that were not as friendly but over all we had a great time. What we really didn't like was having to leave. We could have easily stayed there for weeks.

The property was lovely and the view was also amazing. The choice of onsen made the stay at the hotel great. Extras given in the room are nice and the breakfast in delicious with a great menu using fresh ingredients. The staff are also very active to help guests.

There was a foreign staff member working in the dining hall who was rude. He would speak about things regarding me directly to my girlfriend, pretending that I don’t exist. Furthermore when there were food explanations, he would speak in a quiet voice which I can’t hear only to my girlfriend, again pretending I wasn’t there, making it extremely difficult for me to hear what was being explained. He did this both days of our stay. I was insulted by this and it tarnished an otherwise perfect stay for me.

Lake view on an upper floor; great view out across the lake, watching boats come and go. Suggest pay the extra for lake view. Excellent buffet breakfast and dinner. Parking just up the hill but leave your bags at the hotel plus minibus at check out.

Table B4 is in a corner without a view and felt claustrophobic. We were moved by the lovely staff.
