The location and setting are beautiful. The menu, although quite expensive was a fantastic treat after fish, rice and plantain for two weeks.
Our particular accommodation(right next to reception) was perfect for proximity to the restaurant but was affected a little by the smoke from the cooking fire. This could be an issue for some guests but we chose to ignore it and accept that it was part of its charm. A few barking dogs at night, but again, we’re used to that where we live. Beach was a long walk and cobble stone so not perfect. There are incredible beaches a short drive away, so not a problem.

The staff were amazingly helpful and able to get us a guide within half an hour. Annoyingly we cannot remember his name, but he was exceptionally helpful and helped us wherever he could. The staff at dinner were friendly and many spoke English and welcome any practice. The food was good and well cooked.
We had an issue with using the beach where there was a gang of children who harassed and then threw stones and seeds. They were there two days in a row... It is a public beach so cannot be helped by the staff. The last night we were asked at lunch of we could order for the evening. We did this but on sitting down we were given pre prepared food, so was slightly cold as if it had been waiting for us. These are minor points and did not detract from the overall stay and staff

Mucumbli was for us extraordinary for different reasons and it was just not the houses, restaurant and territory, but all these people we talked there, who were our guides and drivers and those with whom we planned our days on the Western coast from our home country. And those who dealt with our changing desires while being there. For example: we found out that we couldn't ride mountain bikes in the heat of Africa. And we chose not to rent a car to drive south as we had planned back at home. Instead, we toured with a driver and went to Porto Alegre by boat. I recommend this 3.5 hour boat trip to anyone who loves the sea. To see this beautiful island from a far is so special. Especially the S-W part of it, which is without roads and very few people live there and all of it is covered with primary rainforest. To Amaro, our Northern Coast tour and Water Tunnel hiking guide, we are especially grateful. Tt was fun and interesting with him. The same goes for the guide ( sorry, cannot right now recall his name, but he was also English teacher as Amaro) who led us for two days from Bom Sucesso over the mountains and in the forest to Chamiço. And the next day from there down to Agostinho Neto. This was simply wonderful. Thanks to Mucumbli we saw a lot of country, experienced different surroundings, had a fun time walking in the nature and talking about the history of the country and everything concerned the life of people there. But what concerns Mucumbli as a place, this is beautiful, spacious, clean, tasty, charming. With good food and mood. With very lovely people. Stay with them and use their knowledge and guides to discover this beautiful-beautiful island. We are very grateful!

The location, gardens and bungalows are amazingly beautiful, I've never stayed anywhere like this. I can be queasy about too much "wild" life, but the fly screens kept insects at bay very well (be happy if you have a lizard inside, they eat insects and are completely harmless). Cycling to Santa Catarina and visiting a roça on the way was the highlight of my trip to STP. As for food, I found the Italian food much better than the fish/seafood options... Prices were actually lower than at the tourist places in the capital.
Some of the staff were clearly unhappy and quite resentful - NOT the people working at reception, cleaners or drivers, but I felt I was a bother for those leading excursions and some of the male staff at the restaurant – at night especially – were treating customers in a sneering, almost sardonic way (no matter their native language, I witnessed the same happening to native Portuguese speakers).

Had a great stay. Was introduced to a fantastic guide (Fernando Bragança) who made my trip very enjoyable and is highly recommended. All Mucumbli staff members I met were super friendly and extremely helpful. The sunsets from the balcony of my room were extraordindary. A short walk leads to the beach and shoreline which is wonderful to explore. The staff were very helpful with my luggage transfer as well and went above and beyond expectations. I'm quite sure I will be back at Mucumbli and am looking forward to it.
Two points could be improved: * There was no wi-fi in my room. Please try to add this. * Water flow in the shower was eak

We enjoyed our stay here, which included a very worthwhile guided visit to plantations, including Diogo Vaz, which is one of the few which is still active. Facilities in a jungle setting exactly as one would hope in a place like this, with comfortable chalet bedrooms. Friendly and competent staff, clearly well-trained. Good path down to deserted beach with black sand.

very professional travel organization, nice location with beautiful garden, spacious rooms, reliable staff, good food, great choice of excursions
service in the restaurant still has some room for improvement, not much of a nice beach nearby (you have to drive to the Blue Lagoon for snorkeling and Praia Tamarindo for swimming)

Very beautiful location, very well kept. The bungalows are individually designed with a lot of taste. Excellent breakfast. You can visit the Diogo Vaz cocoa plantation nearby.
The personnel spoke little or no English, although they tried to do their best. The food in the restaurant is ok, maybe I had expected more

When going to Sao Tome this is definitely the best option to stay overnight. The rooms are big, a seperate bathroom, a seperate room for the luggage. Nice, comfortable beds and rooms with the most amazing views! Staff is really friendly and well trained to give the best service. You can have italian food here which was amazing to us.

This is an exceptional place to stay it is very comfortable, beautifully decorated, the views are spectacular and you fall asleep lullabied by the ocean. My favourtie place in a two week trip to STP. The staff are very helpful and Tiziano the owner is so great and was on hand to help with planning. The food was also delicious.
