The friendly staff and the food. The breakfast and dinner more than covers the price.

The hotel is in need of renovation to match the staff, the food and the PRICE (great value) especially the Onsen which could looks and feel GREAT if it was spruced up and made brighter inside. It’s a waste if it was not “polished” to show its sparkle. Like a gem covered with grime.

The woman at the front desk is so sweet and kind! We had a fantastic time between our kimonos, the beautiful location with snow covered peaks in the distance, and delicious food! Our favorite stop in Japan.

Not particularly a problem for me - the staff didn't respond to my questions/messages through Booking.com. Just a heads up, I didn't experience a single problem at the location.

The friendly and helpful staff. The dinner and breakfast was excellent. What we paid for our stay was covered by the dinner alone at many restaurants in Tokyo.

The Onsen which had natural hot spring water is overdue for a renovation. Do that up and spruce the carpeting in the corridors will upgrade the hotel.

Our stay in Yumoto was an incredible experience. The meals were delicious and our room had a magical view of the town. It was our first onsen experience and my partner watched a deer over the fence while he enjoyed the onsen. The staff were so kind and accommodating and took the time to ensure we understood and made the most of our experience. We were especially touched by the gesture of some cookies for our bus ride back to Nikko.

Service is exceptional. The lady host offered gloves, snow boots to us. While waiting for the bus, she offered coffee too. The onsen is very good. Food is delicious.

Would be good to have slightly more food as the portions are very small.

Lovely and kind staff—so incredibly welcoming. Location is in a very peaceful and scenic town. Perfect place to relax after hiking during the day. Food was phenomenal and absolutely delicious!

The meal was delicious and such a treat. The outdoor onsen under the snow was a delight. Room is fine, nothing great but comfortable. Staff are kind.

Very typical. We had a ryokan dinner which was one of the highlights of our vacation. People don’t speak English very well but we’re super friendly to try understanding or explaining us the customs.

A bit outdated

Fantastic traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). The on-site onsen had two options, indoor and outdoor. The friendliness of the staff made us feel very welcome and the meals served were traditional and delicious.
