Location is isolated, if your looking for this - it’s a very nice place , located in front of the lake with a beautiful view, and a floor with sitting area in front of the lake (it’s open from morning to evening so if it’s limited and a bit bummer:( ) There is a supermarket about 9 min walk from there, the onsen is nice, You have a small locker inside the bed (in dorms) that is good for small stuff and leptop Bus station 13 min walk from there and has a direct line to the city Overall - beautiful area, nice play to stay if you’re a backpacker and want to go higher class for few calming nights
Breakfast is not worth it in my opinion - the food is nice but not enough, people at the front desk didn’t always know English, In the Dorms you can hear everything that happens - no noise isolation at all

We booked this hotel for 1 night only to have the chance to appreciate Nikko's falls located in the north area. -IT CAN ONLY BE REACHED BY BUS OR TAXII- BUT HOTEL PROVIDES A PICK UP SERVICE FROM TOBU AND JR NIKKO STATION. ((Please if you're staying here make sure to dine at the "tonkatsu" restaurant 5 min walking from this hotel. they open only from 1h from 5 pm to 6 pm..it will be you're best meal ever.)) The room was traditional japanes with tatami floor, 3 fotoon and 2 beds with a spacious bathroom with bathtub and a lovely view on the lake! The location was perfect as it was right in the middle of our final destination, it has various bus stops right in front of the street. We didn't expect the variety of games, books and relax areas such as chars couch and hammocks on the 3rt floor. They also had an opens self service bar with many drinks, soft drinks and snack up to 22 pm. In the main hall they had a buffet of marshmallows biscuits and chocolate and a fireplace to made s'more!! Onsen was pretty! Clean and organized. Very spacious areas with indoor and outdore bath. ( I suggest removing your jewelry prior entering the bath as some gold could tarnish :( but it only depends because of the type of water in the actual onsen...). I was very happy and relaxed. would definatelly stay here again!!
The hotel seams a bit old and since is very big gets dusty very easily, our room had some old stains on the curtains and under the sink and some dust in the corners, but over all nothing scary!!

The Chef and the meals were extraordinary. Our server the first night, Dianne, was wonderful. We enjoyed the lake view from our room and the convenience of having laundry facilities there. The Yukata were comfortable.
The Hotel is a bit run down. It would benefit from some light renovations. The florescent lighting (all on or all off) was difficult. They need a desk light and better lighting in the room. The bathroom does not have an exhaust fan. Showering steams up the mirror and takes a very long time to recover. The beds were springy and you could feel the springs. Adding a futon to the top made the beds much more comfortable.

Very calm atmosphere throughout. With the proximity to the lake and other sights, I could explore the area well. At night, the Onsen was a great way to relax (clean, with an inside and outside area). The lounge area was nicely done as well, with a game area, nice seating and drinks.
It would be even better if there was a short explanation when checking in about what there is to see etc. The digital registration works really well, and it would be nice if the staff also provided a short explanation. I wasn’t aware before, but outside of the hotel, the food options are quite limited.

The meals which were included with our package breakfast and dinner included drinks were fantastic. The location was incredible all rooms looked out at a lake. We had 2 single beds as double rooms were booked out but they were big singles. Had this really lovely communal space with hammocks and table tennis , drinks and nibbles all included. The walks in the area were simply stunning some of the best we have done in Japan for scenery. There were shrines and monkeys just in the streets. Quiet and peaceful.
We liked everything they did not have soy milk but were able to direct me to a local store that did. Only one place we have stayed in Japan had soy milk so not having it was pretty standard.

Our stay in Nikko was nothing short of magical. Nestled by the lake, the hotel offered breathtaking views, made even more special by an unexpected snowfall in April. Watching the snow gently fall over the water was an unforgettable experience. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the onsen. Both the indoor and outdoor baths were spectacular. The outdoor onsen, in particular, was surreal—soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters while surrounded by snow-covered scenery felt like a dream. The indoor onsen was equally relaxing, offering a serene retreat. We also loved the traditional Japanese experience of sleeping on tatami floors. The futons were incredibly comfortable, and we had a great night’s sleep, waking up refreshed to the serene lake views. The peaceful atmosphere, stunning views, and rejuvenating hot springs made this stay truly special. If you're looking for a tranquil escape in Nikko, this place is perfect! Note: it is best to rent a car!

Relatively new hotel. Big rooms facing the lake. Nice multiple course Western dinner and breakfast. Wonderful array of game and lounge facilities - game sets, table tennis, hammocks, comics library, free sodas, sake and snacks. Hotel is next to the lake and close to the temple and Kegon Waterfall.
They tried to automate the check in and check out, but actually created more steps and some confusion. I just got the receptionist to help me do everything. Suggest to get a half0board if staying there because the surrounding area is quite dead at night.

The location is central with a bus stop right in front the hotel. I booked including breakfast and dinner, which were both very nice and tasty. I was very pleasantly surprised that dinner included free self-service drinks (huge selection, also including alcoholic beverages). They also provide some free snacks and drinks in the afternoon/evening in the lounge, and even smores to grill over a fire one evening. The public bath was very nice. Staff spoke English extremely well. The dorms were fine, with a comparatively large locker for valuables in the cubicle.
They use some online system for check-in (went fine) but also for mandatory reservations of meal slots. I found the latter a bit annoying as it wasn't indicated anywhere from when on you can reserve a slot (seemed to be sometime in the morning, and then only for the next dinner and breakfast). Having to occasionally check if reservations are finally open while hiking wasn't ideal. The dorm was fine, however a dedicated spot for luggage would have been nice (now everybody placed it in the corridor in-front of the cubicles). The app had the option to book housekeeping, a bit unclear what that meant for cubicles... Dinner was more a Western-style / fusion multi-course meal, I personally would have preferred a Japanese menu if staying in a Ryokan.

For this price I didn't expect to stay in such a luxurious hotel! It is a dorm room in an otherwise pretty comfortable place. Your bunk bed is not great but okay for sleeping, but what you get is a free onsen with actual hot spring water! Breakfast is also great, as are the facilities and the lounge room (which includes games and a ping pong table). Definitely the best place along lake Chuzenji for such a low price!
It was self-service check-in, which I guess is okay for most people... but sometimes I like to have a bit of contact with the staff to see what's going on in the area.

Nice, cosy, perfect lounge. And good diner ( although unclear how to book: both maken reservation in app and at pay at reception desk).
The location has a nice view at the lake. Nd offers a good start for hiking. Yeti without car of your own, you are dependent of the bus to go into the moutains or down to Nikko, and the bus does not go that often and stops early, at six! Which is the more a pity because most restaurants in the neighbourhood are closed (end of march).
