There was an issue with our payment with Booking.com prior to our stay but I couldn’t reach the costumer service so I reached out to the hotel via email. A staff there replied soon saying I needed to contact the company but he also reached out and sorted out for us. Everyone was unbelievably nice and helpful while we were there as well. There are 3 bath places, clean and all nicely equipped with cool shower heads, shampoo bars, facial lotions, hair dryers etc. Breakfast and dinner buffet were amazing, so many things to choose from, we ate so much!

Nothing that we weren’t happy about this place but we recommend to book a taxi or bus ahead of time.

Overall the facilities and amenities in the hotel were excellent. Inside the room, as well as the communal areas. Clean hotel and the onsen in very good condition with everything you may need. The breakfast and dinner options were very good with big variety of continental and oriental food. Hotel rooms with balconies - good views.

The hotel is a big busy hotel - though it offers traditional onsen as well as food, the restaurants were very crowded. The town the hotel is located is easily accessible by own vehicle but it can become tricky if using public transport.

Our room had a private onsen bath so we did not need to use the guest baths. Room was very comfortable, clean and well stocked with amenities. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and had so many options. The staff were very polite and helpful.

The location was about a 30-minute walk from the Kinugawaonsen Station. There is a bus that will take you from the hotel to the station. The shower/bath in our room did not have any window coverings. We had to leave our room keys with the front desk in the morning while we went sightseeing.

The hotel seems like it was in the golden age around '80 but the renovation of rooms and facilities make it looks new and comfortable. The food for both dinner and breakfast are amazingly various of choices and good quality. The steak in dinner buffet was beyond my expectation considering it is in the buffet line. All 3 onsen in the hotel are clean and very nice. I feel recharged and relaxed while staying here. All in all, the value of money is great.

Our room is river view and we can see abandoned hotel on the opposite side of the river which is a little bit creepy, but the river view is nice.

Despite my lackluster grasp of Japanese, Asaya was the pinnacle of hospitality. It's staff was eager to help ensure my stay was comfortable: handling my baggage before check-in, preparing my suite, and assisting with transportation. Further, we fully enjoyed the variety of decadent meals provided and the luxurious bath facilities. Overall, we would definitely make plans to return.

Determining transportation to and from the hotel to surrounding areas was a bit tricky, but the staff was more than helpful.

The atmosphere at the hotel is absolutely beautiful, situated in a location with stunning scenery. I particularly enjoyed the ambiance of the River View room, which comes with a private hot spring bath. As for the three public hot spring baths, they are also impressively large and beautifully designed. The buffet options for both dinner and breakfast offer a great variety of delicious dishes, evident from the high number of guests enjoying the service.

The multi-story lobby, halls, elevators, and all the building facilities are lovely. There are three excellent baths, including a roof-top rotenburo, and the art distributed throughout the corridors is gorgeous. We found the ruins of the many hotels that closed in recent decades fascinating--very unusual town atmosphere.

This is an extremely large hotel, with very large and crowded buffets for breakfast and dinner. It is very well managed, but definitely not relaxing at meal-time. I was told there was no hotel bus to and from the station, so we took taxis. As we left I saw a schedule for the shuttle.

This onsen hotel is absolutely outstanding! It's perfectly located if you are touring around the Nikko area and the facilities and amenities are simply terrific! Beautifully appointed, spacious rooms and wonderful facilities, the all-inclusive dining option also provides excellent value for money.

It's difficult to find fault here, to be honest! Everything about our stay here was first class and we would stay again in a heartbeat - only next time it would be for longer!

Our stay at Asaya went above my expectations. It was located in a quiet area of Nikko. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and welcoming. They even spoke English which was very helpful since we did not speak Japanese. Our room was beautiful with a great view over the river where sometimes we saw monkeys. The beds were extremely comfortable and the onsen was heavenly! The meals (breakfast and dinner) were buffet style. It was nice seeing all of the other visitors in their attire provided by Asaya. The food was delicious and they offered cuisine from different regions - Japanese, Chinese, Western, etc. The Inn and hotel/customer service culture is very different from the United States and the staff at Asaya really made us feel welcome. If you are a foreigner like myself don't let that hold you back from staying at Asaya. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and hope to return on our next trip to Japan!

Perhaps if there was a more detailed set of directions to the Asaya Hotel. That being said, it could have been my human error that confused me when looking at directions. Perhaps a list of shuttle times from the closest available train station would be helpful as well. With that said, I have no complaints.
