We had the best river view from our Japanese style room. The breakfast was great with many western and Japanese style selections. The private onsen was also great.

We booked the Japanese style room so we slept on the floor, the futon was kinda hard. From nearest station is about 15 minutes by foot no shuttle bus, they only had bus from hotel to station so it's kinda difficult to reach if you don't drive a car. We realised that the WiFi is only available at lobby floor when we arrived at the hotel.

We booked the option for the room to be selected during check in. We got a corner room with a view bath over de river. The room was very very large and was very nicely decorated. The hallway was playing classical music and the hotel had many facilities. Including the option the rent a private open air bath for only 4000 yen for 50 minutes. If you have tattoos, this is an absolute gem!

The staff speaks little to no English and also speak very quite so it’s hard to communicate. Furthermore was the room quite outdated. It gave you an authentic feel, but it therefore also comes with some broken items and some smells. The only “big” thing to why it got a 9 and not a 10 is the cleanliness. It was pretty dusty and dirty all over, including a hairs in the bath and a used toothpick by the toilet

The rooms were recently renovated and are very nicely done. Beautiful and comfortable rooms.

Dinner was just a big buffet. Not so much a ryokan dinner experience. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. Onsen was nice but a bit small considering the hotel size. Women's onsen: the outside bath is completely closed off with wood grates and you don't actually feel like you are really outside sadly

The location was fantastic.Our room had a view over the river and we could see the little train going by every now and again.The onsen was beautiful and not too busy even on a bank holiday weekend.The staff were extremely helpful.When our car wouldn’t start at departure time (after some very heavy rain)the staff came and jump started the battery in the rain.We can’t thank the gentleman who helped us enough.

The futons were thin and a little uncomfortable.

The rooms where am amazing old school Japanese style but still had beds instead of futons, with a calming atmosphere.

Resteraunt options were all VERY Japanese (lots of pickled vegetables and such), and no wifi except in the Lobby.

It was very quiet at the onsen. We had the whole place to ourselves, both at the onsen for men as well as the onsen for women. There was a free massage chair at the onsen, which we used extensively.

The onsen could have been cleaner. The pingpong table and pool table were not free, which was disappointing. No WiFi in the rooms, only at the lobby.

Stayed in corner view suite with a view bath and the room, bath and view was superb. Food was great and the dining experience was just what we wanted in both of the two restaurants. I would definitely stay again

A bit of a wait for a taxi at the train station if you miss the hotel bus. Hire car is recommended to make access to all the spots easier. Nippon Car Rental at Nikko is conveniently located.

Enjoyed stay at the suite with private outdoor hot spring. no need to use the public hot spring. having a massage chair was also good, especially after the bath.

No Wi-Fi in the room or any public area other than near the reception. My mobile roaming was not functioning so was a bit of a pain to visit Wi-Fi area each time I needed to do something on my phone…

I liked the view, the location is ok. But next time I will stay a little closer to the town.

The private onsen was hard to get, so had to pass. I have tattoos so I didn't even try the public onsen. The room is traditional with tatami mats, the rafters were super dusty and had not been cleaned for a long time.

The view is very nice from the hotel room and also from the Onsen. The dinner was also fantastic.

There was no real rest area near the Onsen, which a lot of other hotels usually have. The breakfast was better than average for Europeans, but still very Japanese (criticism on a high level).
