Kinugawa Park Hotels is a nice Japanese-style inn with large and comfortable rooms offering both European beds as well as Tatami mats. The Onsen public baths are a bit dated, but well laid out and a nice experience.

Although the staff are very kind, we were a bit surprised that hardly anyone spoke any English at the hotel. Despite there being several restaurants in the hotel, none ever seemed to be open and breakfast was only available as a room service (none in the hotel restaurants). Kinugawa Onsen seems to have been establlished as a bath resort in the seventies, but has been rather run down in recent years. There is hardly anything open in town after 8pm.

The private onsen was amazing, although in the morning its very crowded so I had to booked at night which I cant see the garden and view. But overall its an amazing experience. Especially I got the first snow moment while bathing.

The dinner time close so fast. Also I was coming a bit late at night and the hotel doesnt have a pick up service. Eventhough the location only 5 mins away, as a girl who travel alone, its a bit challenging walking at night

The room was large and very pleasant - and very Japanese in layout and bedding... The staff was incredible - going out of their way to make us comfortable and help out. Booked a private onsen which was outdoors under a roof in a big rainstorm - delightful experience. And the little counter shop in the bottom floor had great food and a wonderful woman running it - even if we had no Japanese schools and she had little English - but made us feel completely at home.

The only issue (and it wasn't unexpected as we were fairly far out of the big cities in Japan) - it took a while to communicate as the staff had limited English (some very little). BUT they tried very hard and google translate / apps helped make up the difference. Not really an issue - just a heads up for anyone not comfortable in a place without a lot of English speakers

scenery, river and mountain views

Our first room had a view of the river and mountain, but we found spiders, centipedes, and other insects in it. We asked for a room change, which they did, but the new room did not have this great view. It's an old hotel that needs an upgrade but has a very good location and a great onsen.

Superb onsen, with atmosphere and style, you will love it. Our traditional room was spacious, spotllessly clean and convenient. The whole place is nice, the spa is luxy.

My only regret is not staying a few days more. The staff have difficulties with English, but they are kind and dedicated, so all went well.

The breakfast was very good and the people serving the food in the restaurant were absolutely amazing. They were professional, personable and so friendly. They made the breakfast and dinner an very pleasurable experience!

Extremely large room, with large spaces to sit and chat while watching the views. The room came with a nice tea corner. There were many onsens and they were not too populated.

It was not clear how to operate the AC and it was a little bit hot at night.

Dinner in town was difficult to find out. Later we found that there is plenty!

We really liked our stay here. We stayed for 2 nights which was great, we were also able to enjoy the private onsen. The nature in the area is amazing, lots of good hikes. And plenty of other areas easily reachable by train or bus.
