The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, staff great. The location is as central as can be and parking was directly in front of the hotel with an attendant who keeps watch. Wifi worked well.

The breakfast was tasty but didn't have a lot of hot options - mostly cereal and fruits (you can ask for eggs and bacon though). The plugs are a bit odd in the rooms as they all seem to face different directions so if you are using an adaptor, it could be hard to find one where your own plug wouldn't fall out of the adaptor. They are also not in the most convenient of spots but I understand the hotel is very historic.

An amazing historic hotel, centrally located in Swakopmund - this is why we picked it, and we didn't regret a moment. Starting from good parking and assistance with luggage, going to absolutely awesome historic ambiance of the place (it's the oldest hotel in town after all) - clean, polished, well-managed property. We were offered a complimentary upgrade into a suite (for the sake of argument, regular rooms are also amazing - we had a chance to take a quick glimpse at one). Our suite was large, spotlessly clean, with everything perfectly functioning. Large sitting area, courtesy tray and bottles of water, fully stocked bathroom. WIFI was the fastest in Namibia. And the breakfast served downstairs was the poshest and the best quality we've ever had in any country in Africa: cold cuts, herring, yoghurts, good juices, decent selection of bread and even scones... Last but not least - amazing bar as well as super competent personnel. We wish every hotel in Namibia was like that.

I was spending five months in South Africa working on a book and was in the mood for something different over a long weekend. FlyNamibia/Westair had surprisingly cheap flights from Cape Town to Walvis Bay, and I had heard about a wild little German coastal city easily reachable by van from the airport there. Swakopmund turned out to be even smaller than it looked on Google maps, but the Hansa Hotel was smack dab in the center. It also bills itself as Namibia's oldest hotel, and the place has a fascinating historical vibe. My second-floor room in the main building (it is a sprawling place that takes up a whole block) was comfortable and beautiful . The bar and restaurant were atmospheric. Everything in this quirky, interesting town is a short walk away, including the beach and jetty. Like the Hansa, many of the buildings are architectural/historical gems, and the small museum is informative about the area's tragic colonial past.

The hotel is understandably a prime stopover for German tour groups. When they are arriving or leaving (or descending on the bar after an excursion), they crush all in their path. At the same time, they do add a certain bustling, festive atmosphere to the locale. I found that by coming to the buffet breakfast (which is very nice) either right when it opened or during the last hour of service allowed me to avoid most of the aggressive hordes. (When busy, it was like the locust scene in "Days of Heaven".) I would also go to the bar early and would always find a seat.

A great place to stay after a long drive. The hotel is a bit of a timewarp with old fashioned furniture and even bellboys in green uniform with pillowbox hats. Location is very central and the staff is very helpfull. The restaurant was fine

The breakfast team seemed understaffed. Only at the end of our stay we found out that apart from the breakfast buffet we could also order eggs … we were never asked. The hotel has 3 floors but we did not find an elevator.

A good hotel in the center of Swakopmund so we liked the location. A bit old fashioned German style accommodation but very comfortable and we had a very large room were we could spend a comfortable evening.

The laundry service needs to be checking that all items are returned. We missed a bra that was in the end send to a location where we could pick it up but we later missed another item as well

The beds were super comfy with down pillows that were not too large. The hotel has a nice European feel to it that makes it both interesting and more luxurious. The morning buffet had a great variety and freshness. The staff were very attentive but not overbearing.

They have very limited parking. They made space for our car, but I could foresee circumstances where this would be inconvenient.

When in Swakop then in the Hansa Hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and professional, luggage is not a problem and the bellhops are ready at your car to assist in bringing everything to your room. Breakfast is a treat and isn't missing a thing, even German Brötchen and Omelets. The restaurant staff of Lucy and Carlos make the mornings and evening dining very personal and special.

The meals we had were excellent - breakfast and dinner. The visual presence of the management tells the story. At the buffet - if a plate is half empty the management just give an indication and the plate is attended to. Staff was friendly - all over - reception, dining room, housekeeping. We were there to relax - and we did - and the Hansa Hotel clicked all our boxes.

Stairs to the top floor - a bit tough when you are a bit older than the normal visitors.

A traditional, well-run hotel. We had a suite (the Senator’s Suite) which was huge and made us feel like VIPs! The staff were all fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant every night, the food was excellent. I recommend trying the Hansa coffee! The hotel is in the centre of town, so very convenient. Hansa Hotel was our favourite accommodation whilst in Namibia! We would definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

Everything perfect!

Good location close to shops and restaurants. Clean and comfy. Breakfast was nice. Nice and quiet. Seems a hotel used by tour busses so could be very busy at breakfast depending on timing.

The aircon in our room was not working well enough to cool the room down to a comfortable temperature, we were very hot overnight.
