Whatever in your mind about the old Japanese hotel especially in the manga/anime, this is the place that you want to book. It does look EXACTLY like that! And they have smol onsen that is very nice to me. But with a twist of modern touch like the latest bidet, sensory lights and etc. Not to mention, it is nearby the Saiko Lake! We went there at night, stargazing and get to see Mount Fuji at night is a surreal experience. I would also like to thanks all the staff that worked there, they’ve done the best to explain everything, I’m happy I could enhance my Japanese skills with them. Oh and I LOVE THE BREAKFAST!! We were surprised by things that they prepared for breakfast! I won’t share the photo bcs you have to experience yourself :p

I honestly have nothing that I don’t like.

Traditional esthetics, hospitable hosts, proximity to the touristic village, great quiet village as a launching point to explore the nearby lakes, onsens, tourist centers, and Mount Fuji of course

The room heats up a lot and the traditional materials used for the flooring/bedding etc release a very pungeant grassy / humid smell that needs to be aired out. Maybe I'm just not used to the intense smell of natural fibres. The breakfast is very processed and does not have many healthy ingredients / fresh foods.

Very close to the Saiko lake and a spectacular view of the mountain Fuji just few steps from the door. Traditional japaneese house with futons. The owner was very nice and brought us a breakfast in the morning directly to our room, which was a perfect start of the day before hiking around Fuji. Lovely stay, would recommemd anyone interested in traditional experience! Note: last bus from Kawaguchiko St. leaves around 18:10 (Nov 2024), we had to take a taxi which was around 5000 yen.

Very nice host, everywhere clean, parking space in front of the building, beautiful location close to the lake

The whole building is quite cold in winter; there was only cold tap water next to the toilet. The breakfast was free of charge, so I don't complain, however, since there was provided mostly instant and processed food (like from a convenience store) I was just eating the banana and the yoghurt; therefore, I didn't really enjoy the breakfast. I know that it's much work to prepare a real breakfast but in my case just some rice, an easy (fresh) Miso soup and some tea would be healthier, much more authentic to this place and totally fine with me. :-)

The room was very cozy, with traditional futon beds and tatami floors. It was a little chilly and the heater was very efficient. The host was very friendly and hospitable, he helped take our very heavy bags up steep step. sThe breakfast was great and delicious! It was in a perfect location to explore the area of Lake Saiko, right near the wonderful Iyashi no Sato village which we both found to be a great suprise.

The beds were quite uncomfortable and could have been improved by a proper pillow. Due to the thin walls, the noise of other guests was also quite disruptive to sleep.

The hotel is close to several attractions, including Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba. The host is very nice and treated us to a delicious breakfast of bread and salad. It offers great prices and free parking!

I want to clarify that this is not the host's fault; it’s a natural issue. During my stay at the hotel, heavy rain led to bugs entering my room, which was unsettling. Again, this isn’t a problem with the hotel or host, just nature. The room itself is good.

We stayed at a very big room, it was very cozy. The breakfast was included in the price. I found the price to be cheaper than at other similar accommodations. Since there are no restaurants or convenience stores around, the owner kindly gave us a ride to the nearest store which was 10-15 min away and waited for us while we did our shopping. They also kindly let us leave our luggage until late afternoon after the checkout. Thank you for going above and beyond for your guests.

The bath was too hot, almost like boiling water so I couldn't enter.

We had a really nice stay! It was very quiet and we were the only guest that day. Everyone is very nice and we had a great view outside at Fuji San! The “healer village” is nearby and was also very nice to visit. The rooms are simple but it’s enough. We also got a reminder to take some food with us before so don’t forget to buy some food for your stay bc there are no shops nearby. Would visit again next year! :)

The owner is really kind and always ready to help ! The breakfast was delivered every morning on our doorstep and is quite diverse (fruit, yogurt, soup, bread and juice) ! The room was perfect for three persons and we had a nice stay !

The pillow was a bit too hard and we chose to not use them when sleeping

- good and quiet location, very close to the lake - room had a lot of space and was easy to heat when needed, good value for money for new year's holidays - everything was super clean, especially the shared bathrooms - owner is super nice and very helpful, even though I don't speak a word of Japanese

- the room has a nice aircon that can be used as heater, but shared spaces (corridors, bathroom) are not so heated. This is common for rural minshuku, but remember to pack some warm socks or slippers. - amenities in the room are very basic (TV, small table, kettle), but again this is common for this kind of lodging. - easier to access if you have a car, especially given there are no grocery stores in the village (but a few small restaurants near the Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba (Traditional Japanese Village).
