This hotel was the perfect start to our holiday in Sri Lanka and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough! It is a beautiful colonial style house in tranquil surroundings. Our room was really clean and spacious and the bed was super comfy. The staff were so kind. It was my birthday day on the day we landed and the chef made a delicious chocolate cake and the staff sang me Happy Birthday which made me cry! Watching the Fruit Bats at dusk while swimming in the pool was really magical. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Gorgeous place to stay and an incredible start to our time in Sri Lanka. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and kindly upgraded us to their suite as well as a lot of very thoughtful touches for our 10th wedding anniversary. Food was beautiful. Room was lovely, comfortable, clean and had everything you could possibly need. Thank you so much for an incredible stay, would highly recommend.

Nothing - we loved it! Property is a little out the way so not for you if you want to be in the middle of the action, but that’s perfect for us.

Fantastic stay in a beautiful colonial house. This was a great place to stay before our flight at the end of our holiday. Fab pool and large, spotless and well appointed rooms. Thoughtful twice daily turndown service, and lovely welcome to the property. The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble, they were the perfect balance of always being available but you didn’t feel like you were being watched. The food here was seriously good - unexpectedly the best Sri Lankan food we had in our 4 weeks in the country, the pork curry is so good! Highly recommend for 1-2 nights (there’s not a huge amount to do here, but you also won’t want to leave while you’re here to the real world outside)

This is a beautiful colonial home transformed into a hotel. It is very peaceful and set in a lovely and lush garden. The pool is of a great size. It can be a bit warm during the day but the water temperature is perfect in the morning. The food is outstanding and the staff is absolutely brilliant. They are very friendly and helpful. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable! It was a perfect last day in Sri Lanka!

There is not a lot to do apart from the pool. It might be worth considering adding a table tennis / games

I recently had a wonderful experience at Uga Riva in Negombo. From the start, the staff made us feel so welcome and really looked after us throughout our visit. Their service was attentive but relaxed, which made for a very enjoyable meal. The food was outstanding – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. You could tell that fresh ingredients and a lot of care went into each plate. They have a nice mix of traditional Sri Lankan dishes and some international options, so there’s something for everyone, and it all tasted fantastic. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience with excellent food and top-notch service. Uga Riva is definitely worth a visit if you're in Negombo!

This place is perfection! From the warm welcome to our stunning suite to the food, the service - it does not get any better than this. The Uga Riva is at the same time a journey to the past and an expierience of contemporary luxury at its best. Be it the beautifully decorated rooms, the pool, the garden, the restaurant, everything was just perfect. The service was exceptional. All the staff are obviously highly trained professionals, and are kind and welcoming hosts. A true experience!

On arrival we thought that this place was remote as can be, but then realised that it was actually quite close to Negombo, if you take a different road. So in the end: Nothing.

We loved our stay at Uga Riva. Once you enter its a little corner of paradise. I also want to send some special thanks to Kevin, who was super friendly and accommodating with us. We spent 1 night there and it was the perfect ending to our trip in Sri Lanka. The colonial property is beautiful, very well maintained and just a 30 min drive to the airport. Their swimming pool was gorgeous, we had all for ourselves and our toddler loved it. Book it if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing stay!

This beautiful hotel was the perfect calm and relaxing end to our holiday and is very well located close to the airport. There are not many rooms so it feels very tranquil and the manager explained they close the hotel off to outside visitors to keep it that way which is nice. The staff went above and beyond for us to make the stay relaxing and the manager even accommodated a late checkout so we had somewhere to rest before our flight which we really appreciated. They even provided a birthday cake for us as we were celebrating a 30th! We absolutely loved the pool which is set in beautiful grounds and the hotel itself is really classy and peaceful. Food was delicious too with good portions, we recommend the prawn green Thai curry!

Some minor things to improve - the rug in our bedroom was a slip hazard as it moved easily every time you walked on it to get to the bathroom. Should really be secured down somehow. Similarly in the shower temperature is quite hard to adjust so it’s very easy to get burnt. We also felt as though some of the more junior staff could do with a bit more training in terms of service and showing guests around.

Beautiful colonial style property with a fabulous pool. We only stayed for one night after our flight so can’t comment on location as we were in and out the next day. But it was very easy to get to from the airport. The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The bed was very comfortable. The food was truly delicious and we highly recommend the restaurant!

Short but very comfortable stay at Uga Riva after arriving in the early hours after our flight. The room was spacious and the hotel grounds are gorgeous and very clean. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and even assisted organising tuk tuk drivers to collect us from Negombo in the evening to bring us back to the hotel. Special thanks to Nilajan and Silva who made us feel very welcome.

The food was tasty, although very pricey compared to the local restaurants.
