We loved our very short stay at Heyford House - we were late to arrive (around 9pm) and they couldn't have been more understanding - then had to leave early in the morning so in all we were there less than 12 hours! However, we'd definitely stay again, and for a bit longer! The house seems to be full of a mixture of interesting art, treasures acquired from overseas travel and nostalgic books from their (and our) childhood - everything very comfortable, excellent breakfast and a huge shower. As an added huge bonus, there was an ice bath/ cold plunge that was available for use, which was a surprise but a very welcome one!

We really enjoyed our stay, the beds were comfortable, wonderful views out the window over the lawn, so peaceful we slept well. Lots of art on the walls and interesting eclectic style. Lovely breakfasts made to order by the host Leo and nice coffee. Right by the train station too.

We thought there was going to be a local pub where we could get food as had read that somewhere (maybe it was from older reviews i'm not sure) but it wasn't open when we were there and doesn't serve food anymore. So if you've not got a car with you (as we didn't on this trip) then I advice to bring some food with you.

An outstanding place to stay. It is more like a country mansion than a guest house! One has the use of several rooms, as well as one's own spacious bedroom. The gardens are vast and guests are encouraged to walk around them. The outlook from all rooms is superb and is either of the gardens or the beautiful church opposite. The walks around the house and along the nearby canal are delightful. The host is engaging and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Room lovely size and excellent shower. There was a nice greeting on arrival from the host who also made fresh homemade bread for brekfast and homemade jam which were both excellent. If we could rate the breakfast which would give it more than 10 - the produce tasted local and everything was perfectly cooked. The house felt homely in a beautiful village and it was lovely and peaceful and in a good location.

Location excellent for Woodstock (if you have a car) the house is so interesting and has a peaceful vibe , its situated in a tranquil village and is so picturesque. Breakfast was amazing and our room was one of the best we have stayed in spacious, comfortable and clean . The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed exploring them before our onwards journey . Our host was happy to chat if required not imposing which was thoughtful . We wish we could have stayed longer !

Earlier check in but Leo did agree to a 4pm rather than the stated 5pm which was helpful.

The location was ideal for me – a charming historic village bursting with opportunities for exploration, yet offering serene tranquillity amidst nature's embrace. The house itself was expansive, boasting a spacious backyard where one could lose themselves beneath a canopy of stars in the night sky. The breakfast room, complete with a crackling fireplace, added a delightful warmth to the mornings, complementing the included breakfast, which was not only generous in portion but also delectably satisfying. My room was impeccable, adorned with captivating artwork and equipped with modern conveniences such as a full-size shower featuring a refreshing rainshower head. The thoughtful provision of tea, coffee, water, and even milk added to the overall comfort. The host exuded warmth and hospitality, sharing fascinating stories that enriched the stay. Additionally, there was a unique opportunity to engage in a local pastime, enhancing the experience further.

Superb location, beautiful house and gardens, excellent room, delicious breakfast. This was our second stay and is undoubtedly one of our favourite B and Bs.

Arrival organisation. Flexibility of arrival when booking wasn't reflected in the reality. Received a message the day before arrival asking for a specific arrival time as host, 'does have other things to do'. Although manageable this time, we did have to change our plans to accommodate the host. This issue could be resolved with more prior warning of requirements by host.

We used Heyford house as a great start of our trip and to visit Blenheim Palace. We enjoyed our stay here a lot. Lively guests, friendly owner. Close to the house, which is nicely located, you find the old canal with a lot of the narrowboats moored there. People actually live on them! Nice walks can be made along the canal and dor this the personalised OS- map to the house is waiting. Appreciated the extra effort on our day of arival.

There was nothing not to like.

All good, Leo. We had a fabulous stay and enjoyed exploring the beautiful garden and surrounding village. The walk along the canal was an unexpected highlight and so was Rousham Gardens nearby. We loved the breakfasts. Our room was spacious and more than comfortable.

Loved everything

Delightful accommodation, nice and warm with a very large bedroom and neat en-suite. Breakfast was in the large airy dinning room with a traditional log burning fire alight in the hearth -marvellous. Breakfast was very well presented, swiftly delivered and very tasty. The owner won the Channel 4 TV competition '4 In A Bed' - well deserved. We also run a B&B called The PitStop and we won it in 2011 (series 2) In the competition it asks 'would you stay again?' The answer to Heyford House is a resounding 'yes!' The pub called The Bell (300 yards away) was where we dined that night, another good recommendation.
