The property is beautiful, very well maintained with a lush garden right by the ocean and a big, clean pool with ocean view. The layout is great and even if all rooms are occupied, it doesn’t feel crowded. The beach is clean and empty with a swimmable corner and lovely to dip or watch the sunset. A supermarket and cafe is within walking distance. The service was friendly and welcoming.

The kitchen / bar closes early, you can’t get a drink at 11pm eg - it feels there’s mostly 60+ year old couples staying who aren’t leaving the hotel and eat early (and give you a little side eye whenever they can - nothing that the hotel can change but that’s the crowd here), there is not much around, you will def need a TukTuk to get to the local restaurants, except for some beach restaurants (which also close around 10pm) Also sea view in the room description is a big word: we had a corner room and few centimeters of “view” next to various ac maschines.

Our room was incredibly large with a huge balcony overlooking the beach which was amazing.The bed was comfortable and everything was kept clean by the housekeeping staff. The staff overall were very friendly and tried their very best to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. They brought in wine for us to have with dinner and every day asked what we would like to have to eat. The garden leading down to the beach was beautifully maintained and we enjoyed seeing the kingfishers in the grounds every day, the waves crashing on the rocks in the sea and the absolute beauty of the outlook. We enjoyed dinner on our balcony three times and once in the garden and we loved walking along the beach to the only beach bar for lunch. The massages from the in-house masseuse were also a highlight of our stay here. Thoroughly recommend a stay at R Degrees and would go back in a heartbeat.

We suggested to the Drinks and Beverages Manager that it would be a great improvement to have a means of ordering drinks and snacks from the garden/pool area. At the time we stayed, the only way to order a drink or snack was to get up and go back into the reception area (not ideal). Hopefully they will find a way to make this happen which would not only help guests to relax but also offer an opportunity to create more revenue for the hotel. We also suggested the hotel provided a bin by the beach so guests could dispose of their own litter as well as anything they could collect from the beach to keep the beach area clean and safe - this they did immediately.

A smallish hotel with 10 rooms, all a very good size sitting above the beach but without the noise of traffic. The food was well prepared and made use of a lot of local products, a good kitchen. The pool was cleaned daily and in very good condition and the gardeners do a magnificent job keeping the grounds looking magnificent.

It's not really something to dislike but the hotel seemed out of place without a decent coffee machine.

Beautiful small place with family atmosphere. It is right on very long beach where you can spend time walking or relaxing. Also 2 min ealk is supermarket and 10 min walk is a city (and wine shops :-)). Employees including cook are friendly and nothing is a problem.

The room was fantastic with a beautiful garden and ocean view. The location is great, with a quiet beach, far from all the turisty places. The pool is great and well maintained, so is the garden. As there are only 12 rooms the athmosphere is relaxing. In contrary to previous reviews, WiFi worked very well.

There is much more to ask for when it comes to the kitchen. We stayed for many days, and the dinner options was almost the same every evening, with only slight variation. It is a pity that only ”western” food of average quality is offered, it would have been great with Sri Lankan food among the dinner alternatives. The breakfast could also have been better… The staff varied, some were attentive, while others were not.

The stay at R Degrees, is one in a lifetime! We have had an unforgettable stay, and the staff really do everything to make the stay a perfect holiday! Clean room, clean swimming pool, always pool towels fresh and clean. Private beautiful sandy beach, kind of sheltered so we was swimming alot in the sea also. Very good breakfast and dinner. The perfect staff! The perfect place to relax.

We liked everything!

This was a surprisingly good stay! As a small boutique hotel the staff were warm, attentive and welcoming. Check in was super easy and we were in our room within minutes. The room was newly furnishes with modern décor, large with good facilities. The large sliding doors opened onto a patio with a table and chairs and then walk out with access to the pool and beach areas. The pool was pleasant, the access to the beach is great with a private grassed area which you can relax on and then wonder on the public beach at your leisure. The beach was not at all busy and actually quite nice, although the sea was a little rough for leisurely swimming. The kitchen staff were accommodating, the food was excellent.

As much as the food was excellent my advice would be to stick with the local cuisine options as these were far superior to international dishes.

The staff were excellent attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed , the hotel was very clean at all times , and if you want to relax with a beautiful view of the Indian ocean with excellent sea food and the friendliest people r degrees is definitely the place . We spent two weeks at r degrees and was a brilliant base to go explore sri lanka, the management organised a scooter for me to get down to galle area in the morning to get a dawn surf and even extended breakfast so I could get back and still have some. They organise some brilliant excursions to the safari's, lion rock ,swimming with whale sharks , trips to the elephant sanctuary, and all at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend r degrees if you want to relax and Enjoy the beautiful beach where you can sometimes see sea turtles swimming past and if your up early enough you can watch the tradition fishing boats come ashore through pounding surf. Very nice boutique hotel. Got a very spacious ground floor room with big bathroom and own terrace in front of the room. I think a room upgrade. Good restaurant on site. Weather was not supportive much to use swimming pool but it looked nice and must be a plus on sunny day. Direct beach access, but no walking on the beach really as it is short ending with rocks on both sides.

The hotel is clean, fresh and inviting, it has amazing views onto the beach, comfortable rooms and the staff are very attentive. Laksiri was a wonderful member of staff, who kept the balance perfect, of being helpful but not too over keen to please.

For us it was a bit too off the beaten track, although the food was good, it would have been nice to be able to have something different and there was nowhere else to go. Staff are lovely but can be a bit too attentive.
