Beautiful views and convenient location. Especially loved the proximity to the incredible oyster bar next door.

There was no sign and no check in/out instructions sent so it was a bit odd going into the downstairs tackle shop and inquiring when we arrived. I would expect a smoother process for the $300 a night rate we were paying. Thankfully the sweet young lady working at the tackle shop was able to contact the host and get us the door code and wifi info.

The location was amazing, I loved listening to the waves and watching the tides. The views from the windows are incredible. Twice we watched a sea otter floating by! The suite was clean and well decorated, the beds were comfortable. The small kitchen area is well stocked to be able to cook whatever you want.

I would have loved bigger or more windows. The shower stall is very tiny, if you're a bigger person there's barely room to maneuver.

Location on the Homer spit is scenic and convenient to restaurants, the harbor, and water taxis. Large room gave us plenty of space to spread out and organize our gear. The structure is supported on pilings above the beach; water swirls beneath it at high tide. Virginia, the owner, called us on our way to Homer to let us know that an unusually windy storm was whipping up heavy surf under the building; she graciously arranged for us to stay at another inn that night because of the noise of the storm. Fortunately, we were able to switch back to the Shack Inn for the remaining nights, and much enjoyed our stay.

The room had one of the most amazing views I have ever had in my entire life! This is not a five star resort… and is not Advertised as so. What it is, is a nice, clean, comfortable apartment situated over a tackle shop. It was quiet, clean, and made for an excellent weekend in Alaska. The hostess could not have been more pleasant and available. I highly recommend it if you were looking to be in the heart of a fishing town.

the property was amazing, the location could not be beat! we woke to the most beautiful scenery every morning. we had 5 with us 3 adults, one adult sized 15 year old and a 9 year old and we all fit comfortably. the accommodations and management were amazing! I can’t say enough good about it.

the exterior made me quest my choice until I walked in and I was pleasantly surprised. also because the way it is heated the person next to the heater was cooking but the people behind the door in the bedroom were chilled but there were plenty of blankets and a large fan to work through that.

The room is decorated very cute, especially considering it's above a bait & tackle shop! Very well stocked with everything we might need. The hostess was super friendly & down to earth. We had minor issues with the wi-fi and hot water, but both were taken care of quickly & cheerfully. I'd definitely stay there again!

It was a little noisy when the fishermen got up early to go fishing. Not much soundproofing. But we just snuggled back under the covers & went back to sleep when they left and it got quiet again.

We absolutely loved the location. We enjoyed our night there and wished it was longer. The views are amazing. You are within walking distance of everything and close enough to Homer if you need to run and get something.

great spot on the spit, just 1/4 mile from the more touristy shops and the like . It is above the bait and tackle shop. Don't let that scare you the few rooms above are done simply but all essentials, clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet rooms with an amazing view. The hosts are invaluable for day trips and inside scoop for everything Homer. A great spot to end our two-week Alaskan trip.

When you get to 3815 Homer spit it is not obvious to see where the shack inn is… but you quickly ask around and find Sean and his wife. They have transformed the upper floor of their house into 2 or 3 guest rooms. We had the family room that was spacious and perfect for us 4. Two queen beds in the main room where you have a kitchenette and a dining room, 1 separate bedroom with a twin bed. Everything inside works well, the decoration is very nice, the view as well, and the possibility to access the beach for a walk until the end of the spit- very pleasant. We both enjoyed the restaurants nearby and the kitchen for home cooking (which was a nice option given the very expensive prices to dine out). The location is great, close to shops, excursions departures. It is quiet at night and yes you hear the sound of the waves. Owners were great friendly and helpful. Great stay

Not much to say. Maybe the price but everything is so expensive in alaska that overall the room does not look overpriced

The king suite was spacious, clean, cozy, and homey! We had a view overlooking the beach. We could hear the water at night. The unit was impeccably clean. The decor was modern, homey and welcoming. I will definitely be back! Plus, it's pet friendly! Loved bringing our lil pup along for our staycation!
