The onsen is amazing! Arguably you're not allowed to go in with tattoos, but so you just go when there's no one else in the Onsen. You can check how full the onsen is on the TV in your room which is super convenient! There's also free ice cream at the Onsen and free ramen at night! The location is also great. I also loved my room a lot, I stayed here for a whole week and I was sad to go. It's a bit expensive for me but if I would definitely come back any time.

I think they should allow tattoos in the Onsen. It's such an outdated rule. Tattoos are body decorations, just like ear rings or piercings. They don't mean someone is a criminal. Oh also the pillows were a bit too hard I think.

It’s close to Morioka station. Has a wonderful natural spring onsen. A very nice Breakfast buffet is included , as well as free evening ramen from 9-11pm. The washer if free and dryer only 200Y. So it is a very good deal

Nothing I didn’t like , other than you have to understand this is a hotel catering to Japanese businessmen. It was a little harder for my family. The rooms are a little smaller , and the staff , while friendly, aren’t so used to foreign travelers . Some speak a little English. Hot springs or onsen are separate for men and women, but remember NO clothing (swimsuits) is allowed and no tattoos in the public bath. But Japanese are used to it and I really enjoyed it.

Breakfast was great and the highlight is definitely the onsen at the top floor - you can even have free ice cream/yakult after a relaxing bath. There are other free services such as coffee and free ramen at night that I did not manage to try but I could see that the hotel really takes pride in taking care of its guests. Oddly, I had limited interaction w staff other that during check in and during breakfast but that's okay for an introvert like me :) Room was big for its type compared to similar room types in other cities and bed was comfy as well. It is also a good 10 min morning walk away from the split rock cherry blossom tree.

Location is a tad away from the station (10-15 mins walk) but you can just take the bus or enjoy the walk past the shops (visit the shopping street nearby!).

Excellent location, amazing top floor artesian alkaline onsen (hot spring baths) and sauna facilities with separate portions for gentlemen and ladies, with yakult lactobacillus shooters in the morning and cold fruit or vanilla-chocolate popsicles in the evening as after onsen refreshments; free half bowls of ramen at night until 23:00, which are not too small at all; meticulous, friendly and effective housekeeping staff with daily options for cleaning/no-cleaning and fresh towel service. Clear and informative signage for first time onsen visitors, and attentive management who are responsive when there are any issues to resolve. Front desk was more than happy to accommodate a week-plus extension of our initial two night stay. Family friendly, great value for cost and within walking distance of central Morioka, the castle park, main street neighborhood dining and evening izakaya (drinking establishments with great skewers of tasty goodness). Don't miss the puppy cafe around the corner or the exotic owl cafe and Jajamen noodles downstairs of the wonderful Gusto Cafe.

We wish we could have stayed longer but had non-refundable reservations elsewhere. :p

The Dormy is a great spot to stay in Morioka. The location is nice since it’s close to Morioka station and many restaurants, shops and the castle. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent each morning. And the rooftop onsen was perfect on a cold, snowy night. We’ve stayed at a couple of Dormy’s all over Japan and they never disappoint. There’s paid parking in a garage next door for 1000 yen per night.

The room was a little small and the parking was challenging since it involves having an attendant get the car from the automated garage so if you forget something it’s kind of annoying.

Very decent location, about 15-20 minute walk from Morioka Station or a 10 minute bus ride. The staff are polite, welcoming and helpful with any queries. You get a free soft drink as a welcome gift, there are also free noodles in the evening, ice cream or yoghurt drink after the bath The room was pristine clean, little jelly in the fridge was a nice touch. The bed was very comfy, one of the best I've had in Japan! The single room is quite spacious considering, as long as you're not travelling with a lot of luggage. Very nice communal large bath, the outside bath water was the perfect temperature for the winter air. Breakfast had lots of variety and not a lot of people at 6:30am.

Nothing to point at the hotel and staff, but there was a group of Australian tourists hogging the communal rest area, drinking and being loud. They were there for hours, not allowing others to enjoy the space. Also in the large bath they didn't follow proper etiquette and left towels in the water, talking loudly, disrupting the moment of relaxation to other guests. I could also hear them knocking on each other's rooms and talking in the corridor of my room Again, nothing to point at the hotel, they were fantastic, just a rant.

Onsen on the roof. Extremely clean. Reliable parking. Option to pay for breakfast on a day by day basis. Efficient elevators. Yummy breakfast with good variety. Everything was in English and explained so you didn't misunderstand if you're a non-japanese speaker. Give you a nice pajamas to lounge around in on your way to the Onsen and anywhere in the hotel. Excellent location five blocks from the main train station. Booking seems to want to put the negative comment that I made about the parking first so including some details here just realized that there's stacked parking in a silo type structure that is like a giant elevator think of a Hot Wheels toy but in real life. Only certain size cars very small ones can fit. Parking was 1,000 yen a day this could easily be spoken of in websites and advertising. The other option is in small parking lots proximal to the hotel. If you're like me and dragging a bunch of ski gear around every day that's not that convenient. Again it would be easy for the hotel and for booking to make people aware of these details8

The parking situation could be explained a little better

First thing first, this hotel comes with its own hot spring bathing facility. its mixed gender. However the male side from experience had one large indoor bath, one outdoor, one iron tub outside, and a iron tub cold water bath, along with a Sauna. I also liked the fact they provided a seasonal cooling shampoo and body soap. which was much appreciated when the temperature was 37 degrees. The hot spring was really comfortable, and i recommend taking advantage of it. The hotel also provide a range of free ammenties nothing too fancy, but still appreciated. The thing I really enjoyed was the fact it provided half a bowl of ramen for free 11pm is the closing time. Free Ice cream for using the bath and free yakult in the morning. They even have a coffee machine (Be warned its extra hot, even the cups fee boiling after, hotel might want to consider a different cup.) The 10th floor where the bath is located also houses the ice machine, vending machines and a rest area with a view and lots of manga to read. The room was ok. felt more like a Japanese apartment because the room had a hallway that seperated the bathroom and toilet from the main room. Oh i also forgot to mention the free pudding in the fridge as a complimentary welcome.

The distance from the station, while it isn't too far, it wasn't ideal, but this is not the fault of the hotel. The pavement uses stones that are unsuitable for suitcases so it makes for a bumpy experience. The hotel isn't near alot of attractions and Morioka itself isn't as attractive as a city. I hope I will be able to enjoy it next time in more depth as I arrived at 10pm and left by 9am.

Friendly staff, they tried their best to speak English to us. Affordable price with hot spring in city centre. Hot spring is good, large enough. Free Ramen in night time which taste good, Bathroom is large enough. Can put our luggage before check-in time.

The location is a bit far from JR station, which takes ~15 min walk (~20mins walk with luggages). A bit expensive compared with other hotels, perhaps with hot spring and other "free" food during specific time. No place for putting clothes in bathroom. One of the beds in triple room is sofa bed, the mattress is too hard and have sound when turn around.

I have given this hotel top marks in every department. Of course the staff don’t speak fluent English - why should we expect them to? The room, onsens, service were all of a high level. They know what they are doing!!

Breakfast is plentiful but being a non-meat eater I would have like more muesli, cereal type options….. but that’s just a personal choice, not a complaint 😊
