Great location, right on Riverside Park and less than 15-minute walk to Central Park. Fantastic view of the river. Clean cozy room. I had a single (with double bed) which was small but that was fine, it is NYC after all. I read some earlier reviews about no hot water--happy to report there was always hot water in my 5 days there (apparently the spotty hot water was a temporary snafoo during construction).

I would recommend earplugs as many rooms are close to elevator so you can hear other guests getting on and off. No closets in the singles (there are hooks); not sure about the larger rooms. That said, none of this was really a problem just noting to help readers with expectations.

What a gem! From check in to departure, this is what a great hotel should be - friendly, easy, well priced and clean! For NYC, you can't find a better situation - the room, though small, was clean, comfy and had all I needed. The compact space did not feel cramped though (I was in a bunk room). Everything worked perfectly and the staff were always friendly. The area felt safe with easy walking access (10-20min) to everything you'd need. I sincerely hope they keep being one of the best values in the area, this was a 5 star experience for an absolutely reasonable rate given NYC.

It was all great, I would stay there again (and I travel constantly for work).

I am a New Yorker who needed a break from home to finish a work project in peace. I wanted a budget conscious clean hotel that didn’t charge tourist tax away from the crowds but not so far out that it felt isolated. I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. Even though I didn’t opt for the Riverview as a New Yorker and wanted to save the extra $20 I had a gorgeous city view that was pretty day and night. The bed was incredibly comfortable just the right amount of firmness, and the sheets and duvet were dense new and clean. There was an endless supply of clear filtered water in the gym, so l could remain completely hydrated for free, and the exercise equipment was brand new and I utilized it every day. Close to restaurants and lunchtime eateries that were budget savvy and excellent. The interior designer of this place did a very fine job; the optical illusions, colors and fixtures are pretty, and it’s modern and sort of has a Barcelona feel. The other guests were young and mostly European and it was just a subtly joyous vibe. I really really liked it and I’m definitely returning. The coffee could’ve been stronger. But it was free and plentiful and I’m not complaining.

I loved how peaceful it was there. Right next to the river and Central Park but easier access to the busier parts of the city. Loves the views from the room, nice gym, simple aesthetics

My freshly made bed sheets had stains on and the use of bleach to clean the room was quite intoxicating. I was checking out the next day so dint make a fuss but for the price and the accommodation i wouldn’t expect that.

I love my stay at Riverside. My room was very small (think full bed, a sink, and a bathroom) but so cozy and reminds me of Japanese capsule hotels, in the best possible way. What the room lacks in space, it more than makes up for in clever arrangement and comfort. My room has an individually controlled AC/heating, there are plenty of storage considering how little space there is, all the lights are nicely placed. I have a window with a great view. The bathroom is actually a decent size - I've seen plenty of bathrooms where it's hard to squeeze in just ME, a 5ft tall female, and the showering is so awkward. Not here! You could probably shower comfortably with 2 adults or 1 adult and one young toddler. The staff is so friendly and made my experience very welcoming. The soundproofing must be decent since I'm a very light sleeper and didn't hear much noise at night (potentially a huge problem when rooms are so tightly packed together). Location is perfect. Beautiful area of Manhattan but not super busy, close to bus and train, very safe. I travel solo and felt very safe walking alone at night. There is a TV with the ability to cast stuff from your phone but you're in New York. Don't be watching TV, get out and hurt your legs and knees a little ;)

Nothing! The room is small but for the price and neighborhood, and remember, this is Manhattan, this can't be beat

The room was small but cosy and the view from the window was really great, overlooking the river.

You have to be a bit careful with the shower as the angle the shower head is at makes it so the water goes outside the shower and onto the floor but nothing putting an extra towel down next to it wouldn't solve

Great location, near to the Central Park and the river. The stuff was very polite and helpful! We arrived early in the morning, they had a room ready and the lady on the reception did check in. On the check out it was possible to left our baggage in the hotel for several hours.

Boutique style design. Great location on the upper west side. Delightful staff at a great price. Simple hotel but beautifully simple stylish decoration

The staff was very friendly and helpful- the views are amazing and the location was perfect. The room was very clean with lots of fresh linens and towels and the kitchen was well equipped with dishes, coffee and creamer

It was tricky to get suitcases up the stairs to the bedroom, there was a black tile step down in the bathroom which was difficult to see and was a bit of a trip hazard and there was a lot of exposed electrical wiring on the otherwise spectacular balcony

I loved the vibe and the room and location.

The price for just one night and the size of the room didn't match. If they at least offered breakfast, maybe the price I paid would be worth if. A little pricey.
