Very quaint villa with a sunny attractive pool area and a great little family-run restaurant off the pool. Rooms are small and a bit dated but clean with views over the garden. The couple who but and run the hotel are very pleasant and accommodating although communication was challenging as they did not speak any English and our French was rudimentary.

Not anything bad to say. Breakfast was nice. Room has a mini bar and separate bath and WC. Very sunny rooms. WiFi was fine. The pool and adjoining restaurant was definitely a highlight - we enjoyed relaxing the pool with cocktails and lunch or dinner at the adjoining restaurant.

We felt comfortable from the moment we arrived being greeted by Marilyn the daughter of the owners. Our room was a little small but very compact and had all necessary amenities. I suppose we could have had a larger room at a higher price, but this was fine for us. It had a patio and balcony overlooking the garden and pool. Also well air conditioned where we could adjust the temperature. The breakfast was superb served to us by Didier on a try which contained everything one could want. Also we had the choice of having it by the pool, inside the small lounge or in our room on the patio balcony. We choice by the pool which was great. Nothing was too much for Marilyn or Didier, who both spoke English and helped us plan our days around the area. Such as the medieval hilltop village, Port Grimaud and Saint Tropez. There was also plenty of parking area if arriving by car. The pool was superb with plenty of beds and seating areas, all kept spotlessly clean. In the garden just passed the pool area there was a delightful small rustic restaurant run independently from the hotel by two charming brothers. A small menu but they would do anything for you if you were to suggest something, with notice of course. All in all Hotel Athenopolis is a real find and would recommend to anyone reading this who are travelling through or around this area, before they reach the hustle and bustle of the French coast resorts which are not far away.

Great hotel in the forest hill. 5 min drive from Grimaud. beautiful view on the vineyards, great pool facilities, cozy rooms. Amazing staff will surround you with their care and you will feel like you are at your best friends' house. the breakfast is typical french, excellent serving.

Beautiful charming property. Blissful pool area which feels secretly enclosed with trees and flowers. Polite staff and decent breakfast served to you by the pool area.

I said we didn't eat much for breakfast just coffee and hot chocolate, but got charged for 2 breakfast which came to over 30 euros for myself and young son who didn't eat.

Like always, lovely hotel, super welcoming and nice hosts, perfect view out of a lovely hotel room. It's a hotel which I would highly recommend to everyone who needs to calm down, relax and let thoughts fly - no matter if it's a business or holiday trip. Familiar atmosphere paired with a very good comfort, delicious breakfast and surrounded by beautiful and amazing nature.

Excellent value for money, wonderful hosts, simple, charming and exactly what we needed. Loved the fact it was a short drive from two beautiful villages, up in the hills. Very private. Hosts Didier and Marilyn were so friendly and helpful. If you want a simple, inexpensive, quiet hotel close to St Tropez and Grimaud, this is a winner!

Very pleasant hotel. Friendly staff in lovely surroundings. Spent a very relaxing day in the grounds, making use of the pool. Hope to go back in the future to spend a few days there.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Very relaxing pool area and was great to walk out the room to the pool area. Breakfast by the pool was very nice. Has a good sized car park too
