The design of this hotel is superb. It’s been really well thought out to enable you to feel like you are visiting an ancient building in China. We slept very well in the comfortable room. The location is excellent as it’s in the middle of the old town. We were highly impressed by the receptionist who checked us in - Long. She was very attentive with helping us to book a Sichuan opera next to the hotel. There was a severe rainstorm as we were about to leave the event and we were surprised and happy to see she had made the special effort to bring us an umbrella for our return. Really thoughtful. Thanks Long! :-D

The staff were really lovely even though they could not really assist in my losing internet connection (due to blocks/ VPN etc). Did their best to be helpful and were very nice. Location was really good- only drawback was that I did not realise that the hotel had no road access and being left on the nearest road by taxi driver, trying to find the hotel while lugging a suitcase was rather stressful especially when I didn’t know where to go. Thankfully, the Chinese are so incredibly helpful and a man was able to take me to the hotel.

The fact that it was not obvious that the hotel was not accessible by road. And out of the 4 hotels I stayed in during my stay in China, their breakfast was the most limited (some fruit would have been nice)

Right in the middle of a touristy pedestrian square surrounded by local cuisine and shops! The hotel is decorated with traditional Chinese furniture, zen gardens, and artifacts transporting you into ancient China but with modern amenities! Staff were friendly and tried to speak English or use translation apps to communicate.

Since the property is in the middle of a pedestrian square, it was difficult to direct our DiDi to find the correct location and still had to walk about 100 m from the road with our luggage on stone to reach the front door. Better directions to the location would have been helpful! Breakfast was mostly Chinese foods and lacked some typical staples like juice!

Gorgeous traditional hotel ! It is so pretty and the patio garden is so beautiful. The rooms are very spacious with a large terrace overlooking a quiet traditional street. Bathroom ceramic faucet was my highlight.. the bed is huge and super comfy Such a perfect area to stay in Chengdu.. pedestrian, traditional with the beautiful houses and walking distance from a few attractions. Breakfast was good and simple (Chinese options) The staff was really kind and helpful.. they gave us good recommendations for restaurant and visiting the Panda base.

As it is in a pedestrian area, it is not easy for the taxi to find at first. Tell your driver to call the hotel... the lady came to pick us up on foot which we appreciated after a few minutes of "feeling lost". I would recommend the hotel to send precise recommendations via message on booking with the closest didi drop off point and the walking route. Google Maps is of no help here.

The hotel has a lot of character. It's in the details, from the traditional roof to the tea sets. Staff are very friendly, and when you walk out you can see all the vibrant stalls and unique character of Chengdu. We got lost trying to get back to the hotel on our first night, and they sent a staff to our location and he walked us back to the hotel.

It is a bit hard to find because it's inside a square with lots of little shops and small alleys, but once you figure out the right entrance you will have no problem finding it.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The beds were super comfy, the shower was really powerful, the balcony was huge and the room was spacious. The receptionist, xiao long (I do hope I spelt that right) was so helpful and kind. I hurt my back so she offered to take me to the pharmacy, and also helped with the language barrier when we got there. She also organised drivers to take me places, a real asset to the company!.

I liked EVERYTHING!!

Ambience. Staff very helpful. Hibiscus tea in reception area. The hotel's look is beautiful - old charm & a warm hug. Locatuon not bad at all - Close to shops & eateries - about 15 mins from cbd & 25 mins from panda's.

Breakfast - toaster terrible & some further options might be nice. . Mattress being hard however that's pretty standard in Asia. Cleaning of room - I was pretty worried when I saw my toilet bowl being cleaned by bare hands then my teacup rinsed in sink right after. Work was done on outer wall which was noisy, the scaffold was parked at my balcony & I had to request the render chipped of be cleaned as balcony never cleaned. The window sills I left for the next visitor to complain about.

Buddha Zen Hotel is a beautiful facility & we had a gorgeous room - very comfortable suite with full living room and bedroom with a large canopy bed, there was a big shower, also bedroom and living room balconies.. We were in a lively, tourist neighbourhood with 2 temples - can be very busy with tourists, but you are still able to worship. There is lots of street-side and in-store shopping and there's great food everywhere you go! The Metro (very easy) is also just 2 blocks away, with the most amazing sandwich shop just behind the 'K' entrance on street level - you'll probably see a line-up and it's worth it! Buddha Zen was a really nice place to stay, and hosted us while we explored a great area in Chengdu. Thank you!

The location of the hotel is excellent, lots of restaurants nearby. The hotel is traditional looking, very nicely decorated. Rooms large and clean. Staff friendly.

The hotel is on a pedestrian street and not easy to find. It would be nice for the hotel to send instructions on how to reach the hotel after a taxi drops you off at the entrance of the pedestrian area. Also, we found the breakfast very limited, especially if you not there right at 8am when it opens.

A really wonderful place in a really nice neighbourhood, one of the best hotels I stayed at in China.

I can't remember what I didn't like at this hotel, it was all wonderful. I can't remember if the staff spoke english or not, in any case I STRONGLY advise them to learn it and speak it fluently, since that is one of the most important things in customer care and one we were not able to find commonly in China. Other than that our stay was awesome. (if you need advice on how to organise your trip to China write me at [email protected])
