Really pleasantly surprised. Was the first room we've had in weeks on the road that didn't have a musty smell from the A/C! Staff all friendly and good English, working (and cheap!) washer and dryer, no advertised breakfast but as others have said, there IS a standard American continental breakfast included for all guests (waffles, bagels, toast, cereal, yoghurt, fruit - usual stuff, nothing fancy but enough to start the day). Served 0600-0900, it's of note that nobody came into the breakfast room at 0859 to passive aggressively pack up (as is common in US motels I've found) - the staff allowed everyone to finish their breakfast unrushed and didn't start removing things until everyone had left by about 0925. No bed bugs on inspection, metal bedframe and proper bedding in place to effectively prevent these. Microwave, fridge and coffee maker in the room, good hot water pressure, lots of towels provided, good size room and no glaring problems/everything looked alright and functional. Would absolutely stay again.

We appreciated the quiet even tho the location was close to a truck stop. No rowdy customers. Even their dogs were quiet. Our little dog appreciated the grassy field to run around in. We don’t travel much, but appreciate the work you all do to make the stay great!

The metal bed frame made an unusual sound when there was weight put on it. Not annoying, but somewhat comical.

It seems to be one of the iconic places to stay along I90 going to Mt. Rushmore. The price is very reasonable and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We books two rooms for our family and they gave us connecting rooms which made it fun for th kids. Breakfast is continental. No gluten-free options. It's an older facility so the rooms are smaller than newer motels. Also, older decor or look.

Everything was exceptional! Friendly staff, great breakfast choices, comfy beds. We asked for a late checkout due to having motorcycle issues, and they had no problem with allowing this. We stay in Mitchell every year on our way to Sturgis. We will be back next year and will definitely recommend this place to others!

Great location, right off the interstate. Plenty of nearby restaurants. Comfy beds. Good for a one night stop.

FYI - if you have any issues with stairs, request a first floor room. Also, for anyone traveling with a lot of luggage, parking close to first floor rooms is kind of limited.

This is an older property but there have been many nice upgrades. The staff was awesome. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was typical of motels but was well presented and good. They even had biscuits and hot gravy which was nice on a very cold day. We have stayed at the Thunderbird on our travels between Montana and Kansas numerous times over many years and have always liked staying here.

Great water pressure; therefore, super shower.

Charge for a pet - I stayed for ~$0.75/lb., pet would have cost ~$1.25/lb. She slept in the truck! Carpet needed a serious cleaning! (And they wanted to charge for MY pet...)

The Thunderbird is a standout motel in Mitchell. We were offered a room in the new wing with clean, nice, new room, AC, and relatively quiet for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is very basic We are not interested in pools or hot tubs so cannot comment on those. For the price, it is a great value considering we were traveling during the Sturgis rally.

The tin bases on the beds. It made nice when rolling over on the bed. The staff were so apologetic. And graciously changed us to a different room. The staff was kind, caring and so polite. Thank you!

I like it’s proximity to the Interstate, Fuel, and Restaurants. The personnel usually manage to give me a room to accommodate my mobility issues.

The beds are too high and it is difficult for short people to get into and out of. This time, the room was really a bit beyond my capabilities because of distance from entrance and the bed height.
