Kalmar is a beautiful little city. It is old so it is confusing to get around. The hotel is in a cool historic building in the heart of the old town on a square. Good people watching. I was on the second floor. It was easy to take the stairs right next to my room to get to the lobby.

There is no parking, which is understandable but be prepared to walk several block for a parking spot - on the other side of the train station so you had to walk around it. I arrived on Sunday and the dining room was not open that day which surprised me.

The breakfast was beautiful and one could find both vegetarian and non pescatarian options. The location of the hotel is just a minute away from the main train station and the view was overlooking one of the squares in the city. The hotel has a nice oldtimey atmosphere and it was a pleasant surprise to find a bathtub in the bathroom.

The sound isolation is not the best in this hotel. I could hear people in the nearby room having conversations and since my room window was facing the sports bar, I could hear the music and noise coming from there.

It has lots of charm and character. We stayed in such a bright and airy corner room with large windows and tall ceilings. Excellent location and had everything we needed. Nice breakfast. The front desk staff was very helpful and kind.

Parking was hard but the front desk person was extremely helpful with this matter.

One of us is a vegetarian - for which the restaurant didn’t cater well from the menu. But a very minor quibble and in fairness the restaurant was selling itself as beef/steak oriented so we knew what to expect! And there were plenty of other places to eat.

No hotel parking and had to pay for city parking not conveniently located. Arrived later in the evening so we were not able to pull up close to hotel to drop off bags. No one had shared that this was going to be the case.

The hotel is in a perfect location, especially when travelling by train. The small park between the central railway station and the hotel distances the building from the business and noise of the streets. The interior design of the lobby and restaurant is moody and accentuates the period features of the building pleasantly. The room itself was nice and tidy, although quite outdated. We did not mind, as we enjoyed the old world charm of it.

Both breakfast and location were awesome. Luggage room secure which we appreciated. Nice touch with coffee and cookies available whenever we wanted. It felt cosy and the room was very comfortable with lots of reading lamps and a cosy chair.

Wifi was patchy in our room but great across the hall.

Beautiful old hotel nicely modernised. Single rooms at the back face a quiet green park. Superlative buffet and tea or coffee available in the afternoon. Very kind and helpful staff.Central location. 5 minutes from bus and train station.

The independent restaurant on ground floor is very good but constat daylong muzak is very tiresome.de
