Very pleasant stay, lovely property, staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed on a Monday so ate at the Bistro which was lovely, and breakfast was excellent. Safe parking.

The only comment is that the hotel is on the flightpath of the airport, which is fine once you are accustomed to it…. (not too noisy to be fair, but planes passing), there are no flights during the night, so peaceful sleep is possible. Obviously this is something the hotel can do absolutely nothing about and its environment is otherwise really lovely in what is, after all, a very busy location close to Düsseldorf and Essen, and may be a plus for convenience to the airport.

A throwback to better times. Reassuringly old-fashioned and lacking in glitz. Impeccable service from well-educated and pleasant staff who genuinely seem to care about guest comfort. Lovely grounds for the dog even though we stayed in January. Outstanding breakfast. Extremely comfortable bed and modern bathroom, some areas and furnishing are - old fashioned - so might not appeal to others as much as it did to me! I look forward to my next visit.

We loved the location, the breakfast, dinner, absolutely outstanding and the room was gorgeous! The Hotel is amazing, traditional and well maintained plus close to a green, luxuriant forest that is all around. The area is so quite and peaceful. Pure beauty. We would recommend to all.

While the property deserves to be visited and is beautiful, we had an unpleasant surprise. Once at the property, we were offered a room that was of a category different and in particular lower than what we paid. The room offered didn't match any of the room's pictures showed on booking.com Therefore it would be important for the Booking.com clients to verify carefully and to ensure that what they've paid for it is actually given. Eventually we have received a fantastic room that was at level of what we've paid for.

Great historical building in nice settings. We had the opportunity to enjoy a very nice breakfast served at the table at the terrasse looking out in the garden which was amazing. Very good diner restaurant 1831 at the location. Nice, clean and cozy size rooms. Excellent location close to e.g. Dusseldorf and in walking distance to lovely old city Kettwig.

The water pressure at the shower bath was a bit low.

We really had a great weekend at the castle! Having read reviews, we were expecting some noise from planes - but there was absolutely no noise heard in our room👍🏻 Room was beautiful, we had tasty dinner at restaurant 1831. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best we had in hotels. Definitely want to come back!

Bed was slightly small in a standard room, and my partner was upset there was no bath. Also, we would appreciate a bit more info about the castle itself! We left without having learned anything about it 💁🏼‍♀️

The location is great. The staff are very nice and friendly. The Breakfast was quite the highlight. Very tastefully decorated place, very stylishly presented breakfast. Tasty food!

The Air conditioning in the room was not effective. We felt warm during the night and hence could not sleep properly.

The modern touches seem out of place, missing a bit the „old world feel“ (compared to Wartburg). Way too much advertising for expensive clothing and other luxury items everywhere. Treatment at times not too courteous (bar), other times extremely nice (breakfast). I remember the rooms to be cosier.

Excellent setting, like a fairytale. Lovely historic buildings, tasteful mix of new into the old.

Room was a tiny bit dated. Some of the facilities were not available (eg the Bistro), but since it’s a small place, it’s understandable. Overall I also think the hotel could make visitors more aware of the history and details of the amazing property.

All minor ones: Airport proximity and therefore noise but good room noise insulation, no conditioner in bathroom - as other hotels in this category have, no complimentary late check out

There was some confusion over booking the evening meal because their main restaurant was closed. But it was all sorted before we got there; they kept their Bistro open instead - which was excellent.
