Beautifully decorated cabins in the older style. Location is secluded, and very quiet. The staff were exceptional, arranging everything and solving problems. You can go for long walks on the beach and hardly meet anyone. Mr Saliya organised a sunrise trip to Kalemitya Bird Sanctuary which we highly recommend. We also saw turtles on the beach - very special. Breakfasts were delicious, we chose the Sri Lankan options and the coffee was great! Swimming nearby: there is a Rockpool about 10 minutes walk away that is safe to swim, otherwise very dangerous. We went to to Silent Beach by tuk tuk one day (20 minutes) and it was a good safe spot for swimming. We also ate some delicious meals at nearby Mama’s Kitchen- only a 10 minute walk away. We were very sad to leave as the staff were so very kind and attentive.

Small, higher-end place on the beach (you hear the sound of the waves from the bedroom). Located in a quiet part of Tangalle. The chalets are very comfortable and tastefully furnished, the outdoor area is very well maintained. There's good shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the bathroom, a hair dryer, the AC works well. What made the place special: - the people (the owner and the entire staff) is extremely helpful and professional. The service on the level of a luxury hotel. They helped us plan activities, find a TukTuk, provided laundry service, etc. - you are in the middle of the nature. From the table where you have breakfast, you see the beach (usually empty), you see all kinds of animals (monitors, mongooses, monkeys, maybe turtles if you are lucky) and birds, etc - the Sri Lankan breakfast is very good - we didn't try the rest of the menu The waves are strong almost everywhere in the area, but there's a corner 5 minutes protected by a reef where it is easy to swim. This place is as good as it gets. There are a few luxury hotels if you want to splurge, but their location isn't as secluded, you aren't as close to the nature and the ocean.

As often in Sri Lanka, hot water in the shower can be a bit lukewarm as it is heated by solar panels.

Mahesh and his team were incredible. Very welcoming, friendly and couldn't do more to help. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice and we had some delicious dinners too. The laundry service was the best price we had on our trip. The location is peaceful and quiet with views over the sea, although Mahesh warned us it wasn't safe to swim directly outside but its a 2 min walk down the beach to a safer spot.. A great place to stay to unwind after some of the busier places. Great wildlife in and around the chalets too.

The quiet location right next to a dreamy and remote beach is unbeatable. Chalets are well equipped, the garden is beautiful and there is lots of greenery as well as animals (such as monkeys) around. Many breakfast options (Sri lankan as well as continental) available. Rooms are clean and we had the best bathroom of our trip here. Most of all we were thankful to have Mahesh as our host. He helped us with our every need and even served us coffee before an early morning safari at 5am. Wifi connection was very good too.

Bedroom was a little dark.

Nice calm location right by the sea. Beach is long and clean. Chalet was compact and had nice porch. The host was very helpful and friendly. It was nice to eat breakfast out by the beach. Resort is far away from Tangalle, but if you’re looking quiet place to relax it’s perfect. There were a lot of cafes and restaurants along the beach.

No wifi in the room, only in the main area. Our chalet’s door was jammy and a little annoying to use. The floor woods were squicky and seen their best days and so had the bathtub. You had to walk a bit to find a suitable swimming spot, because the waves in front of the resort were quite huge.

I loved everything. A beautiful, quiet place. A wonderful tropical garden, where you can see a large variety of wildlife from the breakfast table. A beautiful, super clean chalet with all amenities. Kind andl helpful people who pampered us. Excellent Sri Lankan food. The grilled seer fish with buttered vegetables was as exceptional as the rice and curry. The staff are not only helpful, but knowledgeable, too. We have learned much about Sri Lankan cuisine and many other things. The manager has helped us plan and organize our onward trip, showing us new options. A home far away from home.I will certainly come back!

Our chalet was super comfortable and seconds from the beach. We also had our own table for breakfast and dinner in the middle of nature with view of the ocean. We could see monkeys and peacocks. The team was just fabulous and very attentive to our needs. If you wish to be a little far from everything else, that’s the best place for couple of days!

We knew ahead so that was fine with us, but you can’t swim right in front of the property. You need to go few min walk from there.

The staff were so nice to us. We arrived late in the evening and they waited for us and made us a fresh dinner late at night. Our stay was during a New Year's Eve celebration. Our host helped us massively with information about what shops may be open at that time. He also called to train station to check if any trains were operating during the holidays for us to leave. He helped us arrange TukTuk and let us check out later than it was scheduled. The internet was stable and reliable with decent speed outside the room, but inside the room was worse. The location was awesome. The private beach was almost empty and we appreciated the privacy. We had breakfast and dinner outside with a nice view of the sea.

Our room was older and a little bit dark, the plaster was falling off in some places and the shower curtain was a bit moldy. But the bathroom was nice, there was a glass ceiling so light came through it and it was nice, especially in the morning.

This is our first trip to Sri Lanka, and the first few days in Colombo were so tiring for us. But finally, we arrived at The Waves Beach Chalets, and it was our paradise, we could see birds and monkeys from our terrace. It was amazing. The host and his boys were super helpful, kind, and honest. He cares and helps us with everything. I felt so warm and touched. The service is beyond our expectations. The place is so clean and feel like we have our own beach which we can walk and see turtle next door. There are a few restaurants where we can walk from the property to have lunch or dinner. For breakfast will be served at a nice place where we can see the beach, it was super nice. Or if you would like to go somewhere else, the host also can help to arrange tuk-tuk with a reasonable price. We highly recommend this place in case you would like to come to Tangalle. The place is perfect.

Nothing to complain about the place

The accommodation is incredibly beautiful. It is located on Marakollya Beach, almost at the end of Tangalle, promising pure nature and beautiful solitary walks on an absolute dream beach. The beds were comfortable, there was a superb mosquito net, and even a cozy bedside lamp. While showering, you could see the trees and the sky through the large glass roof, making it feel like pure luxury. However, if you're looking for parties and hustle, this might not be the right place. For me, it was just perfect, and I would come back anytime, cherishing every moment. The hosts are nice, and there was even a welcome mango juice. They also cook for you, and nearby, there are a few selected beach restaurants that are really tasty.

The light on the terrace could be cozier. (A different light bulb would already make a difference.)
