Positives: Superb hotel - away from the noise, but close to everything. Lovely pool and a gym you can actually use (it even has a Smith Machine, with pull options for lats and back). Comfortable beds and bathroom, good internet, nice views. Underground parking has plenty of space. I visited 4x other hotels downtown, nearer the Mekong River, and I was not comfortable with the security or ease of motorcycle parking, particularly when often coming and going. The staff at S2 are so friendly, sweet and helpful, and they are genuinely interested in contributing to your experience in Laos. The Manager (Afeee) leads by example, will offer you unique local experiences. He is also direct and open-minded in asking you for improvement feedback.

I think, similar as it is for most of Thailand, "walk-in bookings", being people who take the risk to turn up to the hotel, should always be 12-15% cheaper than online bookings, and you should never send an existing customer, who asks to extend their stay, back to the booking apps. When you send them back to the booking app, you can potentially lose them to another hotel, plus you're making them do the work that really you should be doing as part of your reception's service.

The room was absolutely gorgeous. We were lucky to get an upgrade and everything was perfect: The staff was kind and helpful (giving us nice restaurant's addresses, calling a Taxi Loca for us, etc), the bed was big and comfortable, the shower had great pressure and the the bathroom had plenty of space. We did enjoy a lot the sofa and desk areas as it allowed us to work remotely at night (great WiFi all throughout). We are extremely happy with our stay at S2 Modern.

The breakfast was a buffet but maybe not as fabulous as the rest of the service.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Was very lucky to get an early check in after the over night train from Thailand and they helped with taxis and even a food panda delivery. They were just the best. The hotel is just outside the main centre of town. So you can walk to the action (20 mins) or a tuktuk in 5 mins. Pool very nice and the fitness centre decent enough. WiFi was strong in room and bed comfortable.

The in house laundry wasn't the best sadly was very fast though (same day). Paid 40000 per kilo and my t-shirts came back still stained. Maybe was the Cambodian soil? Will find out when wash them at home.

A shuttle bus was provided (I think twice in the evenings) to get in comfort from the hotel to downtown Vientiane. We always walked back afterwards, which was no problem. A nice little bar next door belonging to the hotel was always good for a 'nightcap' at the end of the evening. We made use of the hotel bicycles every day to get around the city, which we preferred to walking. I have to say that all the staff on the reception and also the manager were extremely pleasant and helpful. The manager booked our train tickets to Luang Prabang for us, which was a great help. If you don't have to live downtown (or dont want to) I can recommend the S2.

Staff really friendly. Room lovely and comfortable. Breakfast good. Nice vibe overall.

Noise. Maybe unfortunate with our room, but there was a club in the distance playing music till 4am, and then a building site next door that started drilling at 6am. The two hours in the middle were great, other than that it was tough going. Windows looked double glazed but not convinced they were doing their job. Location wasn't great. 20 minute walk into the main tourist area, but not particularly nice. Swimming pool was small and hardly got the sun.

Very friendly staff and clean rooms for a great price. They also offer free rides to the city center 4 times daily which is nice.

Location is slightly inconvenient if you frequently go to the city center, but the free rides and low taxi and hotel costs compensate for that. Also the Wifi was a bit unstable at times.

Modern facilities. Excellent pool for laps and the gym equipment is great. Towels are provided for the pool area and flip flops are provided in the room that can be used by the pool. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We booked multiple taxis through them. Hotel provides shuttle bus Monday - Saturday 6pm and 7pm. Cafe provides really tasty food and beverages at cheaper prices than most cafes and pubs in the centre. Free breakfast is great quality and lots to choose from. I would book again if in Vientiane, we stayed 5 nights and our room was always cleaned and fresh towels and bedding.

Only downside is it’s a 20 minute walk into the centre but we didn’t mind the walk.

The staff were excellent, and it had a good breakfast as well as a pool and gym.In addition,it also had a free shuttle into the main town area mornings and evenings.The rooms were very spacious with a big bathroom too.

The only thing was....I know its being picky...but the room had tea....but NO milk !! I dud ask the guy on reception but he said there was no milk for the rooms.....but there was loads of fresh and powdered milk at breakfast......which begs the question....why have tea in the room in the first place and a kettle? So I bought my own milk from the shop.

The room is nice and of a good size, the wi-fi works well. One receptionist was amazing - unfortunately I forgot his name - a young man, he could speak a bit of french and he was super super friendly with us ! We arranged the taxi to the airport with the property which was nice.

The breakfast could definitely use some work - the sweet options in particular. Regarding location it is indeed far from the main attractions as the other reviews mention. It is true that there is a shuttle service, but it is not flexible in terms of drop off point which is quite annoying - even though I was alone once and asked to be dropped off a couple of minutes away by car this was not possible. A part from the nice receptionist, the rest of the staff is very inexperienced, and communicating wasn’t easy at times.

The hotel is that is very nice and modern with a small restaurant in the bottom and a nice little pool. The rooms were great. Location was convenient too. The food we ordered from the hotel menu was a great surprise too.

No complaints, I’d stay here again.
