Old colonial style hotel, ideal for a short stay. , easy to walk to various restaurants

Very dark room, on road/ front entrance side. even in daytime had to switch on lights , so gloomy and one certainly didn’t want to spend anytime in it. Breakfast uninspiring, limited choice and biting insects if sitting in garden/pool area. Although staff very helpful and tried hard, there was limited information for a first time visitor to know where to go, and what to do and see, if one wanted to get out of Vientiane, even within it.

Of course the hotel was beautiful. The staff was extra attentive. The pool area was beautiful. Unfortunately there were loud jackhammers being used in town near the hotel. But the staff was apologetic and offered me a free drink outside by the pool. I declined as it really wasn’t necessary as I was enjoying reading my book in such pleasant surroundings. The breakfast was very nice. A selection of local dishes as well as eggs, pastries, potatoes, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, etc. Also pancakes one day and French toast the second day.

The rooms were dark. All beds in Thailand and Laos were very firm. Very different than U.S. accommodations. However we realized we slept very well and with no aches or pains.

It was just a wonderful stay- the building style, colonial style furniture, exquisite decor, staff that quickly learns what guests like and dislike and treats guests professionally and cordially. Hotel management is present, accessible, and friendly. Interesting stories about the history of the place and how it coped with the recent COVID crisis. The Garden and the pool area are an enclave in a busy Vientiane. The food was good and nicely presented.

I would have preferred to have more spaces to hang my towels in the bathroom and to have a handheld shower head but this is just an extra "nice to have"

Staff very attentive but only Hid who runs reception understands English. This can make life tricky. Maybe they dont have so many English speaking guests. I dont know. Hid is fantastic and a great asset. Without him the hotel would be chaotic I liked the breakfast

Restaurant isn’t great and very very expensive. We went to the best and most expensive restaurants in Vientiane. The food was amazing but I didnt see anther restaurant in the whole city even half as expensive. I certainly saw better quality and more authentic food. No hand shower. I have long hair so it was very awkward to wash ,my hair without a hand shower. The layout and design means there’s a lot of flies and insects in the main pool area.. If you open your bedroom window insects fly in. They try their best with a discreet attractive looking mosquito killer in each room but it’s still a problem and the rest of the city does not have this problem. Unfortunately its the design of the hotel

World class French colony-style hotel. Excellent location in a tropical garden with nice pool. Excellent food and a good breakfast buffet. Fantastic staff - very smiling and helpful. Different possibilities for massage. Can recommend head and shoulder massage. Hotel, restaurant and massage very much affordable. Staff very helpful when we had to visit Alliance Medical Center (also fantastic service and staff) after a fall. We were brought there by hotel staff and they assisted us all 2-hours we were there and brought safely back. Thanks a lot all at Settha Palace Hotel. We will definitely be back at Settha.

I did not like the white tops the male staff wear. They could be updated to something more contemporary . Maybe it is a period style to suit eta of hotel but it does not work The souvenirs for sale in the carbonates looked tired ! Also need to be updated to more interesting items. I was also disappointed with the fact that I had to change $ cash which they kindly did. However they were all badly marked and after I left hotel I could not use in Laos or Thailand. I thought this was not nice knowing that marked notes are not excepted. These were badly marked

The overall experience was so positive that I wouldn't hesitate to choose this hotel again for my next visit to Vientiane. While most aspects of the hotel were exemplary, the breakfast selection presented a slight disappointment. The lack of dark bread options, with only baguette and toast available, was a minor letdown. However, this was somewhat compensated by the excellent quality of their coffee and croissants, which was a delightful start to each morning.

Great place to stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Cut our access to internet the morning we were leaving despite we were there almost a full day. The hot water in the bathrooms were hard to control. You can get burnt if you are not careful. There was no variety in what was available for breakfast.

It’s a beautiful heritage hotel, just gorgeous, with personality, and friendly staff . The swimming pool is very nice

I would like to suggest to install soap and shampoo dispensers in the rooms, to save plastic bottles. And water dispensers would be nice to have too !

Staying here was an experience, in a very good way. Its quite a big building, French colonial. But fairly few rooms so it took a while to adjust to somewhere that was not trying to pack the guests in. The service was exceptional - a real touch of luxury. A great pool too.
