I booked a Junior Suite which is really worth paying for, not just for the extra space, but because of the view with the 2 small balconies (some rooms face indoor and I would not have liked that). Alfredo at reception is fantastic! The roof top casual restaurant is great for the superb view and the great friendly service, the food and margaritas were very good too! Jaime in the more upscale restaurant downstairs, is very professional and friendly, personal touch with his guests. The breakfast buffet is excellent and so is the service, very friendly, all the staff there.

Although Alfredo at reception is great, and so was the lady who checked me in (sadly forgot her name), the rest of the staff at reception are not welcoming at all, difficult to understand why. The check out was so sad, after 5 nights stay not even to be asked "how was it?" or "have a good travel today" really left a sour taste, pity.

This historic hotel is right in the heart of Casco Viejo. We stayed for a week in Feb 2025, to get away from winter. The hotel is in excellent condition. The breakfast was outstanding. I really appreciated all the fresh fruit. Our room was large and comfortable, with 2 balconies. The bathroom was modern and clean. It was nice having a separate tub and shower. Most staff were friendly and helpful. The waiters at breakfast were a little surly at times.

The only dim spot was in the noise from the room next door to ours, on the first 2 nights (Fri & Sat). We could hear their TV and their spoken voices. But it's an old hotel, not too unexpected.

Excellent location on Plaza Mayor/Indeoencia; close to lots of nice restaurants and shops and entertaining; nice size and equipped rooms ( Jr. Suite), beautiful and tasty appetizers and drinks at rooftop bar.

Our jr . Suite listed a plaza view but it was a tiny sliver at an angle under a head banging low wall covering two small windows. Minor housekeeping ( replace creamer/sugar/stirrers; shower supplies; Maintenance (card key cover on entrance door fell off repeatedly, deadbolt screw holder missing, shower mirror coming out of wall, shower soap holders dipping so toiletries fall off, shower door doesn’t fully close which gets a lot of water on floor) ), design ( shower door opens the wrong way which exacerbates the leaking, plus head banging wall above).

We loved this historic building and its location right on a main square in Casco Viejo. The rooms were large and comfortable, and the breakfast in the restaurant each morning was amazing! The live piano music in the lobby during the afternoon was a lovely touch. The place feels luxurious and welcoming. The room had a working safe large enough for our laptop computer, which I appreciated. Although we did not try the rooftop pool, it looked nice. I hope to stay here again when I am back in Panama City.

I can't think of anything that I would change.

Location, rooms, staff and meals were all excellent!! I had a little issue at check-in and it was handled very respectfully by the front desk staff. I also used their paid Airport transfer service, it was a very smooth transfer, all confirmations and details were provided clearly and it was very reasonable. The Junior suite was spacious, the bathroom was surprisingly huge. For a 5* hotel the bathroom amenities were lacking a Dental kit and Vanity kit, I would suggest the hotel to add this as an option for guests. There was a guest requesting a Dental kit while I was checking in and the staff was unable to help them. The rooftop restaurant had a wonderful ambiance in the evening and a lovely view to match the food. The breakfast buffet also had attentive staff and a very good selection. Overall a very relaxed stay in an iconic hotel, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Exceptional location, great staff, (especially Mario who arranged a great city tour and a birthday surprise for my husband.) The included breakfast was wonderful as was the variety of on site dinning options. Our city tour guide Ricardo Wilson who works with the hotel was delightful and knowledgeable.

Many rooms overlook the central courtyard/atrium. While not necessarily an issue for a 1-2 night stay (ours was 5 nights), the pianist/singer repertoire was unpolished and repetitive.

The Hotel Central, as the name suggests is located in the center of the old town at a beautiful square opposite the church. The beds were very comfortable.

We were just a bit unlucky because nothing else fitted into our room but the 2 nice queen beds. So there was actually just enough space to get into bed, one tiny bedside table was all that fitted into the room besides the beds. One could hardly get out onto the beautiful patio because the one bed stood right in front of the sliding door. So no space to put anything, a suitcase for example

Great location right in the heart of old town, breakfast was great with lots of options and it was good no matter if you got there at 6:30 or half an hour before breakfast ended. Room size was good and room was comfortable. They have a guitar player in the evening and a pianist at breakfast. I had a room on the outside so I didn't hear it and loved the breakfast pianist, but I can imagine that an atrium room would be noisy.

Staff could have been friendlier. I expected more from the hotel for the price. The spa was not really a spa, just massage rooms and a sauna. They make you pay for the sauna even as a guest (not in line with the "free spa access" advertised by booking.com). Sometimes they forget your omelette at the breakfast omelette station.

Wide variety of breakfast options, all very well presented, prepared and tasty. The omelette station was my favorite. Best of all, the host was so friendly, happy and would sing a bit and dance a bit bringing us coffee. Great start to our day!

The shower! The shower door did not seal at the bottom and our first night we had water everywhere and used multiple towels to mop the floor. Second night we just used the shower wand and faced the shower wall and barely washed to prevent another flood. Room 207’s shower needs help.

The staff was stellar. In particular, Alanys, a server in the dining room for the breakfast buffet, was exceptional--very attentive without being cloying, patient with my elementary Spanish and always cheerful to see me. I'm sure the Hotel Central management recognize her potential and will nuture her career in hospitality. No less friendly and attentive were Josalyn and Walter. Great assets to the hotel staff!! In addition, Josue, my guia and driver did a wonderful job.

Unfortunately, interior repairs to the hotel and pool area needed to be made. I realize there's no good time to do these things, and commend the staff for being a accommodating as possible.
