Decor is highly unusual, with paintings and sculptures everywhere, most of them done by the owner. Staff was exceptional, food was delicious, even though dinner had to be prepared and eaten by candlelight. Beds were firm, which we like, and had both a duvet and heavy, thick, hand-woven wool blankets in case the night would be cold. Enjoyed the night-time nature sounds, including potoo (frogmouth) and frog calls, as well as the early morning bird calls.

There was no electricity from 7:00pm to midnight nor from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm because of countrywide power rationing and rolling blackouts. Hotel does not have a generator of its own. Took a very long time for warm water to come out of the faucet. Bathroom sink could have used a better scrubbing -- maybe cleaning staff could not see the stains properly because of insufficient light?

Location was remote and quiet with very little to disturb the peace. The art/murals by Camilo Andrade was impressive and everywhere, making the hosteria and grounds a very interesting landscape. The room we stayed in was very large and comfortable. A unique location that I can recommend to anybody who wants a quiet, quality, exotic destination in Ecuador.

The restaurant was good but could have been better. However, we visited at a quiet time and hosteria was not busy, so I do understand that maybe the restaurant was at half gas.

It was spectacular, the art work was engaging & beautiful. The staff were very friendly & welcoming, delivering an impeccable service! I particularly enjoyed the peacefulness and gorgeous nature in and around the hotel

Plenty of parking close to rooms, croaking frogs at night and reasonable Wi-Fi in room

Dinner (Pollo a la plancha) was nothing special and no option of boxed take-away breakfast for early starters

The grounds and the arty decoration. Lots of spaces for lounging and relaxing. Swimming under the starry sky (if u don't mind lukewarm water in the warm/humid weather). Sauna and steam room just the right size. Excellent food. Very patient staff.

Spoiled our stay: A inconsiderate action from day manager to let a bus enter the property making a lot of noise at 6:30am just to park and leave the engine running, making more annoying noise in front of our patio window. That woke us up much too early for a relaxing day in a weekend getaway.

The location, the food

The rooms had some dust and spiderwebs, needed cleaning.

They called me to confirm and to see if I was already arriving to give me directions. Staff was kind and friendly. Everything was perfect

The bed was very nice, in our room the bathroom was gigantic, very comfortable for us. Surrounded by excellent ar pieces which were a delight to see and detail. The gardens were wonderful, you could spend an entire day exploring, many places to sit down and read or have a conversation. Wonderful bar and dining spaces, again full of ar pieces to contemplate.

Some bugs outside need repelent

The venue is simply amazing, the old hacienda house and surroundings breaths art all over the place
