Spacious comfortable room. Good location - a short walk from the train station and also a short walk from the restaurants and cafes in town. A formidable lady on reception, especially as we were 4 hours too early for check-in, but we only wanted to leave our bags there and go into the town. She was very helpful and arranged for our room to be made ready a couple of hours early while we went off and had lunch.

Nothing was bad. If I'm being picky I could say that the breakfast was a bit mass produced, but that's a minor point and is perhaps to be expected given the size of hotel and the number of guests.

Comfortable room, lovely bedding. Aircon that was beneficial as extremely hot days. Lovely airy bathroom. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Secure parking that was a huge benefit as walking distance into town centre and riverside.

Room beautifully dark at night - other than clear door to bathroom that let light in. I do love a completely dark room, so a slight markdown because of that.

Great location for town center. Hotel tastefully modernised whilst maintaining the “old world charm” of the building.

Booking.com should emphasise on the site that there are only 12 parking spaces for an hotel with more than 40 rooms - reserving parking space is essential. The cleanliness of the room seemed excellent until we found a huge spiders web behind the bathroom door (room 224)!! Staff at reception rather “brusk”. Breakfast very good.

Superb location close to town centre. Characterful building but with good facilities. Staff went out of their way to be helpful eg the receptionist who came to see if we had any car recharging issues and the chambermaid who popped down to reception as we checked out with an item we’d left behind. The breakfast here was the best of the three hotels we used during our drive from the Pyrenees to the Belgian border.

The lift is slightly small.

This hotel was where we finished a cycling trip and was well located in the central part of Macon close to the shops and restaurants. We stayed two nights and used our cycles to take a look around on the middle day . Macon is an interesting place to visit. The hotel was well appointed and we had good breakfasts there. They do have an attached restaurant which we could not get into not having booked in advance but there are several good restaurants within easy walking distance. There was good storage for our bikes and a garage in the Hotel for our car when we fetched it from the railway station. All the staff we met seemed to be friendly and were happy to help.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. We needed just a fine room for one night and we loved the bed, that the window could be opened and our car was safely parked. The room was the basic one, a next time I would pay for a bigger one you could hardly move around with two people. However the bed was good and all comfort was there. I recommend this hotel ☺️

Spending a bit more money on a bigger room

Nicely located on the edge of the town centre, with a number of bars and restaurants nearby. Friendly staff and a very good breakfast, the wifi worked very well. The room was comfortable and a decent size.

We had the misfortune to arrive when the hotel's air conditioning system was not working, so the night was a bit warm. We were unable to get a hotel parking place so were forced to search elsewhere - a bit inconvenient.

Relatively easy to find, slightly on the edge of the centre, but friendly staff, clean and functional spaces. Bathroom modern, breakfast the usual and it was good to have parking on site. A good restaurant adjacent to/part of the property. There seemed to be lots of regional information available for guests.

Bedroom a little tight and the lighting extremely dim. Bathroom lighting was great though. I had nominated to leave at 10am and when we were up earlier and wanting to leave found our car boxed in and had to wait for other guests to leave. It’s strange they can’t move the cars to enable guests to have some flexibility as we needed to leave the car key with reception. Not sure what the purpose of that is.

The bed was very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Hugo, the night shift receptionist is very friendly and informative. He's very good in what he's doing.

I did filter my search that I need an air conditioner as it's summer. But I think the room only has a fan/heater function. Even I set it to the coolest with highest speed, the room was still warm. Otherwise all were great.

Excellent hotel. Very clean and comfortable bed. Very good inclusive breakfast. Helpful staff. Great shower. Fantastic location and would happily recommend. Do visit the Skybar opposite.

Parking a little restricted and needed to be pre-booked, but plenty of near by road side parking available.
