After 7 hours of riding my motorcycle, Berghotel Franzenshöhe was just what I needed to relax and recharge. The place was really calm and quiet at night, perfect for a good sleep. I stayed in a single room — the shower was a bit small, but totally fine after a long day on the road. The room was clean and comfy. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and honestly, they made the whole stay even better. Dinner and breakfast were both really tasty and hit the spot. Whether you’re on a bike or driving, this hotel is a great place to stop. I’d definitely recommend it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The views from the hotel were wonderful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the food was excellent
This is not a problem in connection with the hotel itself, but, be sure to check there are no cycling events on the Stelvio Pass during any stay, as it makes leaving the hotel extremely difficult, especially as there was also another cycling event closing the Umbrail Pass, which leads off the Stelvio, and there had been a landslide on the Bormio side of the Stelvio, meaning that road was also closed.

Located on the Stelvio Pass, the setting and views are totally stunning. The room we stayed in was comfortable but fairly basic and very alpine with wooden bed, walls etc. But it was perfectly adequate so long as you’re not looking for luxury. The restaurant was very good. There was a set menu which might cause some guests a problem. The meal was good value for money with a very well-stocked and delicious salad buffet to start and four other excellent courses to follow. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Not much luxury, no TV and slow internet but hey, it is half way up one of the highest mountain passes in Europe! It had everything we needed for our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

This hotel had the perfect vibe for the Stelvio pass. Away from the overcrowded feel at the very top- there was some peace but opportunity to watch the bikes & cars going up & down. Loved the wood surrounds in the bar and dining area. Comfortable rooms and nice walking nearby with more great views. We appreciated our stay here and meals.
The Stelvio pass is scary for a novice- but so glad to have done it

This is a stunning place to stay for the Stelveo Pass. We think better than the ones right at the top of the pass. Extremely quiet with wonderful helpful staff. You can sit outside by a small river, see the pass, see and hear the cows with their bells, take in the mountains and see the local Marmot! Really - see pictures. Dinner and breakfast were superb with a very good wine selection.
If you paid for a full board, breakfast and dinner you get no options, so if you have any food allergies you need to tell them when you order.

The Berghotel is a slightly old-fashioned but delightful hotel with a great bar and dining room and friendly, helpful staff. The hotel itself is historic, originally dating from the time of the Austrian Empire. I chose the hotel for its location on the Stelvio Pass, and it's an excellent place to stay for anyone wishing to break their journey near the pass or to visit the Ortler Alps, and therefore attracts an eclectic mix of guests.
My single room was small but it didn't really bother me.

It was my 6th stay at this property. I stay here whenever I'm in the area and hotel is not sold out. In last 10 years rooms were refreshed, changed and improved, but in general, have the same simple vibe. I always book half board, because dinner service is very good. I used to stay for one night, but now make sure to stay for two nights, to see what's going on in the area during the day. There are always interesting people and cars. If you're petrolhead, go for the morning or evenig run, if you like walking, there are hiking trails. And if you like animals, you can watch marmots. Read about hotel history and talk to the owner. And bonus point, mobile internet connection improved since my previous visit.

Nestling half way down the Stelvio Pass, the hotel is in an amazing location. The staff are friendly and the rooms are spotlessly clean. Because of its location dining in the hotel is a necessity but an experience not to be missed. Guests can either dine from the 5 course set menu for €35 pp or choose from the a la carte menu as we did. My husband had a starter which could have been a main course, the mains were huge and extremely tasty at around €22. If you don’t like any course on the set menu then we recommend choosing off the a la carte menu, you won’t be disappointed and you certainly won’t be hungry afterwards!
Only one complaint but an issue nevertheless. The one pillow per person, is so soft, even if you fold it double, that it was completely pointless

The hotel is sandwiched between two cliffs, it offers magnificent views of the peaks of the mountain range, the Stelvio Pass itself, and the serpentine path leading to it. The vast majority of guests stay for a short period, but I recommend staying longer. The hotel is a great base for those who love mountain hiking. Right from the hotel you can get to the glacier or to the top of the Stelvio Pass. The hotel staff, especially the owner, are very friendly and hospitable. You won't have any problems with what language to speak. The hotel rooms, although not large, have a modern bathroom, a comfortable bed, and an incredible view from the window. Be prepared to wake up to the sound of cows' bells and the whistling of marmots. You won't find pizza on the restaurant's menu, but you will be pleasantly surprised by purely Tyrolean dishes. The bar with a fireplace and a wide selection of board games is incredible. Breakfast at the buffet system and it is enough even for a big guy like me :) Worth mentioning that separately - the hotel is pet's friendly. You can stay with your small ones without extra charge :)

We loved this hotel. Our room was fantastic - newly renovated with an amazing view of the road going up to Stelvio Pass. The food was great and the hotel had a great atmosphere. You can follow a walking track from the hotel with more spectacular views (and you will see marmots). Thoroughly recommend a stay in this hotel.
