My partner and I stayed for 2 nights and it was a pleasant stay. If you are travelling with rental car you can park for 1,000 yen per night in the parking lot behind the hotel - access via the street behind and turn in to the carpark and there will be someone to guide you in. The onsen on the 13th floor was spacious, clean and they provide complimentary yakult, noodles during some time periods. Check in and out was via ipad.

The staff have very limited English. I called the hotel after check out to enquire about something and was only able to get the answer I was after as I could speak a little bit of Japanese.

What a pearl of a hotel! We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, slept comfortably in a nice bed, relaxed in the beautiful external bath with hot natural springwater and were surprised with little unexpected goodies like a great view over the main street during Ohara Matsuri, free ice lollipops during day and a night owl ramen during night - and many more. It is a very recommendable place, clean, great location and wonderful staff.

Like many hotels in Japan, the rooms are at the smaller end of the scale, and usually the prices therefore are very good - if you are not booking just during the biggest festival of the year like we did :) Still the rooms are very comfy and provide with everything you need.

Walking distance to JR station, no need to take a bus (I did so I know); A bus station is right in front of the door, Terayama Park can be accessed; many convenience stores are nearby, right amid shops and the mall; My favorite breakfast of this trip, even better than a 4-star hotel in Kumamoto; Nice Onsen, feeling tranquil especially when you're the only one there(possible in late afternoon, avoid after-dinner hour); Washing machine, ice maker, vending machine, smoking room, it's very nice to have these thoughtful and comfy little equipments in hotels in Japan. I went jogging by the river before check-out, the early morning vocano view is stunning!

The room itself is a bit old and not so clean, I remember a piece of wooden drawer(with a handle) even fell.

Love the Dormy Onsen, the room was quiet and comfortable, and the staff was helpful

Like many Japanese rooms, it was small, opening my large two sided suitcase was problematic, and the the chair for the desk is too low for real computer work. They can't change the rooms and for one or two nights for business man i am sue its fine. But an improved chair would help.

Just a short tram ride away from stations and tourist spots. Clean for the most part, super friendly and helpful staff. Free goodies like ice cream and noodles. Lots of manga to read upstairs. Free washer, and cheap dryer, both lockable for security, and they work well, my clothes came out with no smell! Onsen and sauna are amazing.

My bathroom shower had mold in the corners and crevices of the folding door. Ventilation is poor in there so it makes sense. Their Onsen is not tattoo friendly, but I only had two small tattoos, and they gave me free patch covers for it at least. A++ for the staff.

Very convenient location, staff were so helpful and friendly. Great breakfast and onsen.

On the first night, the entry light would not switch off due to an error with the sensor. The staff fixed this quickly when I asked about it, but it did disturb our first night's rest. The relaxation area on the top floor was just a small room with amenities, not really an area to relax.

Stayed one night on the way to Yakushima. The public bath on the top floor was very nice, and the outdoor bath is open to sky so I sat in the hot water letting the rain fall on my head. Guests get a pair of pajamas to wear around the hotel. The room comes with an incredible Japanese breakfast buffet. The washing machines on the 13th floor are free; dryers coin-operated. All the convenience store brands are within one block. (I left the bathroom door open, which blocked the hallway motion sensor.)

The counter/table area was crowded because of a giant armchair coming up against one of the beds.

Great option for central Kagoshima visits. It really captured the vibe of Kagoshima with plenty of ramen eateries and funky clothing shops. The people of Kagoshima are far more relaxed and chilled, and it shines through the interactions and service. Close to conbini and shops. It was perfect for me..

Parking was a little tricky to find.

Good location in the Tenmonkan area. The room Was in good condition and was clean. The onsen bath was excellent, with nice meditative music and complimentary treats for after the bath. I love that the washing machines are free to use (small fee for dryers). Breakfast is excellent with lots of local specialities.

I loved the shared bath upstairs; it was a very relaxing atmosphere with nice music and great bath products. The ice cream bar and manga library is a nice touch. Washing machines were appreciated and convenient. The staff was very kind. The curtains blocked light well.
