It is a quiet place. We had taken two rooms with mountain views, and it was nice to be able to look out over the landscape from the room. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beach is easily accessible and very pleasant, and it's possible to swim without risk. It's a pleasure to see the dolphins playing with the toys provided during shows, especially when they've been forgotten. If you want to go for a walk, it's easy and very pleasant. The nearest shopping center is about a 1/2-hour walk away. The pool is a little small, but the beach makes up for it.

A handheld shower head would be a plus in this type of hotel. You need a taxi to go in the downtown. Some information on what's close to the hotel would have been appreciated .

We loved the room, one of few hotel rooms that we have actually enjoyed spending time in, the ocean front view certainly contributed but the design of the room itself was very pleasant. Service was excellent from beginning to end. The location away from the city, in the 'Beverly Hills' of Honolulu next to a small beach and a golf course was very beautiful and tranquil.

It was a very 'family friendly' hotel, which means a lot of noisy kids in the small pool area. Also the pool restrooms need a serious upgrade worthy of a hotel of that caliber. The bar/bars were frankly very disappointing. Not only since they were aparently unable to create good, classic cocktails in the correct manner, but a hotel of that quality deserves a real bar, and not just an appendix to the breakfast room and pool. Perhaps this has to do with the above fact that the hotel caters to families. With the possible exception of Arancino, the restaurants did not have a good price/quality ratio - especially Hoku's which aims to be haute cuisine, which it is not. I can not recommend sitting on the outside terrace for breakfast since there are a lot of pigeons and other birds.

Warm welcome with leis at check in. We had a recently refurbished room on the 3rd floor facing the golf course so it was quiet. The carpet looked new as did all the tiles and flooring in the bathroom and recently painted as well. The size of the King room was pretty large, included mini fridge and coffee maker + kettle. (The mountain facing room worked out well for us, some of the ocean views are right above the circular drive where you valet the car so might be nosier.) Everything in the room was very clean. The property was nice with a pool area, access to the beach, dolphin lagoon where you can watch the dolphins swim around. The gym, sauna & jacuzzi in the locker rooms were well equipped and not crowded when we were there. We didn't eat on property, but there is a little strip mall (about 5 min drive) with a Foodland. Purve donuts (yum) and some casual eateries. Since it was outside of Waikiki, it felt calmer and much less hectic at the Kahala, although the drive into Waikiki was only about 15-20 min. I would definitely recommend staying here for a luxury resort experience.

Nothing everything was good

Beach and location are really nice. Close to Honolulu to get out but you don't feel like close to the city. Beach very clean and perfect to relax. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Staff is great and very helpful. We do recommend getting dinner at the arancinos, best italian restaurant we've been in the US.

Pool area and pool not that big. Pool restaurant not so well organized. Walking paths to the gym or beach could be more thoughtful. Light could be better in front of the bathroom mirror. For us was a really good 4 star hotel and close to 5 stars compared to asian or arabic 5 star. We can not compare to other 5 star in the US.

I thought it was wonderful! We came from the Four Seasons in Oahu Kona and we thought the property was very comparable for a great price… We thought the Italian restaurant was a wonderful. The rooms were adorable and they did major upgrade since the last time I had been there. The staff is very sweet and kind and of course we adore the dolphins! Absolutely come again and recommend it to my clients as a travel agent!!!

I love the oceanfront room view, but I wish I had a balcony that I could have sat on.

As a return visitor, I love the Kahala for its open and airy spaces, wonderful neighborhood, friendly and prompt service, and standout hotel bathroom.

The hotel might be looking a little rough around the edges - I think it needs some detailed maintenance work on the guest floors - attention to peeling wallpaper and scuffed doors. I also don't love how children run wild and scream in the pool all day long. I had to move seats several times to get away from children shrieking (their parents off on the beach or paying little attention). I think the pool staff could do a bit more to step in and create an environment of relaxation if not decorum by the pool.

Who saved our stay is only one employee, your name is Robert from Vallet Park. It’s because we was on honeymoon and ask for a king bed room, but nobody from frontdesk or concierge was sensible, just Robert help us and he is very friendly much more that all other superior employees

Behind of Diamondhead Mountain There are few Luxuries House area. In the middle of there, kahala hotel & resort was located. In front of hotel resort, The kahala beach as private & For only Hotel guests pool is so good. This Boutique Hotel with italian restaurant, beach cafe, restaurant, Fusion French restaurant & loung cafe are high quality interiors & nice foods & drinks & hotel staffs high-end services & professional !!!. I will stay in here only when I visiting Honolulu.

A few walking people around pool & resort garden, it is uncomfortable.

Staff was very attentive and hospitable. Very welcoming. Very clean. Feels like luxury. It’s a bit remote, so you have to Uber or drive off the property in order to find other dining options.

My main complaint was the breakfast. The vibe of the breakfast restaurant is fantastic with amazing beachside views. We did a la carte one morning, and it was good but slow to come out. We did the buffet the next morning, but we were not impressed with the food quality or the selections, especially considering the price.
