Our stay in Domaine de Benveau was only for a night but it will stay in my memory for a very very long time. We were on our way to the South of France from the UK and I believe that meeting Marie-Solange, Claudine, Guillaume and our co-guest Laurent was a highlight of our French Summer. The house is beautiful, the atmosphere is very cosy, art and beauty are everywhere, inside and outside. All the delicate attentions, from the refreshments to the eggs you had cooked for us because we arrived a bit late, the deep and friendly conversations, the laughs and the ball games with my children, the home made aperitif, the documents about the area, the drawings from Guillaume to my children, the games between Claudine and my son, the tomatoes from the garden, the flowers that only open by night, the ice-creams we shared in the evening, the delicious breakfast in the morning... The warm welcome and generous hospitality of Madame that went far beyond our expectations - we felt we were treated as family members and could not speak more highly of our stay. There was a lovely shaded garden in which to relax after our long journey and visit to Bourges. There is an option to have a home-cooked dinners in the evening, which we would definitely have taken if we had not had a full lunch en route.

There is nothing that we didn’t like.

The lady of the house was very hospitable and welcoming. Her home cooking was much appreciated. The house is very traditional; some would say outdated, but I appreciated the old-school charm as touch of authentic French-farmhouse. It is well placed if you wish to visit the pleasant city of Bourges and the vineyards of Sancerre.

Towels and linen would benefit from an update.

It's perfect place for a nice time wasting, quite and very nice quaracter house...perfect traditional breakfast and very friendly personal!!!

We were en route and just needing an overnight stay. The gardens of this property were mature and lovely. The house is old and full of years of family antiquities which would make it difficult to be pristine. We felt as though we had arrived at someone’s old home rather than a commercial accommodation venue. Having said that our bedroom was clean and comfortable, if antiquated. The private bathroom was across the hallway but clean and functional. Our elderly hostess was so very friendly and seemed to soak up the company. We felt that the property was isolated and therefore she really appreciated visitors. She was welcoming, kind and generous.

The host was very welcoming and kind. The location is quiet and well isolated.

The double bed we slept on had a bad mattress - the owner said she would change it.
