The location is amazing. We had a sea view room which was large comfortable and of course great views.

Great Location, very friendly staff, large rooms. Fantastic breakfast. Nice restaurant on the beach. We spent a wonderfull last few chill days of our two weeks trip in Sri Lanka.

Everything was nice. But as only remark we could mention the beach beds. They could be replaced by more adjustable sunbeds.

Lovely property, great location, welcoming staff, bonus of additional facilities at sister property nearby, Tasty food served in the beach restaurant and the breakfast included was amazing with hot options, bread and pastries basket, fresh fruit and delicious fruit juices

The only negative was having to leave! Would love to stay longer in future

Staff were excellent! Very friendly and helpful. The location is really good, with a very nice beach and surrounded by restaurants. Room was very comfortable and with an excellent ocean view. Food was really good too!

Although this is not the hotel's fault, in the evening, every single night, there was very loud music coming from a beach club next door, until midnight or even later. We understand that it is a place for holidays and people are having fun, but if you go there to relax and sleep slightly earlier than that, it is close to impossible. Especially if you have to wake up at 3 am for a tour, and you cannot sleep until 1 am the next day. Even earbuds did not help because music was extremely loud

Stayed 8 yrs ago so came back again. Last time we had an ocean view room which was amazing & even though i booked what I thought was the same room, this one had a roof view in front of us then the beach view. My bad, as I should have reconfirmed this Nonetheless it was a large & lovely room with actually two bedrooms on different levels, 1 upstairs but still a roof view The restaurant on the beach is great & there’s so many along that strip of beach that you’re spoilt for choice. And the fresh seafood is amazing Breakfast is either western or can have Sri Lankan if ordered beforehand & it’s fabulous The staff go over & above to make sure everything is perfect & it’s a great place to stay, relax & unwind No pool but we took advantage of the golf buggy to go to the sister hotel and swim as it has 2 pools & a lovely bar, with a great barman as well as good massages But I still prefer to stay at this hotel rather than the sister one

The stairs

We stayed in the penthouse suite, which included an additional upper floor with a double bed. While this bed was smaller than the master bed, it did have a mosquito net—unlike the master, which might be confusing for some guests. A heads-up: I banged my leg quite hard on the master bed frame, as it juts out more than expected—left with quite a bruise, so do be careful! That said, both beds were very comfortable. The suite itself is spacious and features additional seating, which was great for relaxing. A full-length mirror is placed behind the seating area, which felt like an odd choice—it would have been more practical elsewhere. The bathroom was a good size, though it did get quite warm as there’s no air conditioning in there. It has a large corner shower, and complimentary shower gel and shampoo were provided. The balcony offers a beautiful view overlooking the beach and the restaurant. While the view is lovely, noise from the restaurant can travel up—earplugs helped with that. Housekeeping was consistent, with the room tidied daily, fresh towels provided, and complimentary water bottles restocked. There’s also a kettle with tea and coffee available in the room. Breakfast was generous, with a good selection of bread, pastries, and a bowl of fresh fruit—though it’s the same each day. You can choose from various egg styles, or opt for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, which needs to be ordered the day before. The juices were especially nice. Overall, I’d recommend the stay. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

There were a few minor inconveniences during our stay. The room had limited wall sockets, which made it a bit tricky to charge multiple devices. The full-length mirror was oddly placed behind the sofa, making it impractical to use. The TV didn’t work during our stay, and the internet connection was quite unreliable in the room—though it worked much better in the reception area.

The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the location was perfect.

Although not the fault of the hotel, it was uncomfortable to be bothered by men offering drugs, sex and cheap cigarettes whenever they spotted you on a sunbed, having a coffee or a drink trying to relax. Often these men are scammers taking cash from tourists and not returning. If the hotel could eradicate them from bothering their customers it would be better. This is not unique to this hotel but maybe the hotel could protect its customers or warn them about them.

We absolutely loved the location. Right on the beachfront and central of the small town with lots of restaurants and shops. Kevin in particular was an absolute star, went above and beyond - cobstantly smiling, welcoming and all the staff couldn't do enough for us. Kiki was our favourite furry friend. The free shuttle to use the pool at the sister Hotel was really great and an added bonus. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The bed could've been ever so slightly comfier and the doors are quite thin as we were staying above the kitchen so heard noise until about 10pm but if you're out later you wouldn't noticecon your return and we still slept okay.

Just returned from a stay at Thaproban Beach House and I’m beyond impressed! The place has been beautifully renovated — it has a fresh, modern look while still keeping that cozy beachside charm. The staff were absolutely wonderful, always friendly and ready to help with anything. A special highlight was the new fine dining restaurant — hands down the best food we've had in the area! Everything about our stay was fully relaxing. Thaproban is truly a hidden gem that just got even better!

Just a few meters away from the beach, located in a great area where you can find shops, restaurants and bars, but not too noisy.

There weren’t enough sun beds for all the guests. Some people just woke up in the morning and put their towel in the sunbed as to reserve it, and they would never return, and the staff of the hotel does not control this kind of things so sometimes you have to sit in other sun beds paying or just laying on the beach and the sun beds will remain empty for the whole day.
