This place must be the best kept secret in the world! I stayed in the one bedroom cottage which was absolutely delightful. Clean and comfortable (loved the beanbags to watch Netflix in the lounge room at night!) and a fabulous deck with views of the river. I even had fireflies on my balcony one night! The meals were delicious and the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating! One man even got up at 2am to drive myself and two other guests to the Dawn Service at Hellfire Pass for ANZAC Day and took us to visit the nearby Hintok Cutting and Hintok River Camp another day. The swimming nets and floating decks on the river were an extremely relaxing way to spend my time...watching the local boats pass by and listening to the gibbons and birds in the jungle. Tours and spa treatments were offered, but I did not take these up on this stay due to the short nature of my stay and being content with my time in the cottage and by the river. Please note - this place is an absolute retreat. There are no nearby shops or restaurants but most of what you will need can be purchased from reception. I would have stayed forever and have already booked five nights for next year. Highly recommend!!!

We loved the view from our tent (good for 3 people). It was overlooking the river, mountains, trees, and the night sky. It was really a lovely experience. There was also a sweet and warm dog who stayed on guard all throughout our one night stay. Lastly, we would like to thank the receptionists who greeted us with a warm welcome and catered to our needs with smiles on their faces.

The road leading down to the accommodation from the hellfire pass museum was quite steep and had numerous potholes so be ready. By that I mean ensure that your vehicle is well-maintained. You also have to prepare for water and snacks because everything there has to be pre-ordered since they don’t have a restaurant on-site. (There is local store nearby where you can buy food and drinks; You can use their bicycles for free.)

We stayed there for 3 nights, and absolutely loved it. The little "treehouses" are immerged in the beautiful scenery of the Sai Yok National Park. It's not a place for city lovers as it's very quiet and isolated, and the sound you hear is of various animal species, which we loved. The hotel itself offers some activities (check on the website) All the staff were very helpful and friendly If you like history it is definitely worth visiting The Hellfire museum, unfortunately we didn't realise how long the longer walk was and we could only do the shorter part.

The location is absolutely amazing. It's quiet, beautiful and for the birdwatchers there's a lot to see. The staff are super friendly and really helpful. Have Google translate handy, and you'll be fine to communicate. There isn't a lot around, but you can go for beautiful walks and the bamboo rafting is also very nice.

The beds are a bit hard, but that's pretty standard for Thailand. We were also a bit unlucky with our timing, so that we got some construction noise throughout the day. When there was no construction however, the place was very peaceful!

The stay was very special and we were so happy we chose it over the floating houses nearby. The tent was comfortable, cosy and spacious. The hanging hammock net with a view of the river was spectacular, perfect for watching the river at sunrise and for stargazing. The bathroom and all the amenities exceeded our expectations. The shared terrace/dining area was a great spot to hang out and enjoy delicious, fresh local food. The staff was helpful and with help of Google Translate, we were able to communicate well. We wish we had more time to enjoy there!

The accommodation, the food and the staff were fantastic. The grounds are beautiful and build with a lot of love. The staff were always very friendly and extremely helpful. Once the remote control for an air conditioning unit broke down. Of course we couldn't get a new one in the evening. However, a mobile air conditioning unit was provided instead until the new remote control arrived the next day. Fantastic! We also took the trip on the bamboo raft and that was a very special experience. We actually spent most of the time floating in the river next to the boat with our life jackets on. That was sooo great and unforgettable. Thanks again for everything. We would love to come back.

Beautiful location. Close to the river and in a really nice environment. The small house was well designed, comfortable, with a good bathroom. Hot water with decent pressure. The beds were comfortable too, not too firm. Internet speed was ok. You will need your own transport to really make the most of this place. It’s off the beaten track! When you leave the main road drive SLOWLY as there are potholes in the road to the resort.

Requests to order food well in advance were a bit strange. The food was good though. No microwave in the kitchen.

Baan Rai Khun Ya Resort is a wonderful place with a truly lovely atmosphere. It’s located right by the river, making it perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very tidy. Breakfast is quite good, and the food overall is delicious. The staff and the owner are all very welcoming and friendly. If you’re looking for privacy and a quiet place to relax, I highly recommend this resort. It’s a great spot to unwind and recharge.

Where to start with this gem that is BaanRai Khun Ya?! A few kilometers away from the Hellfire Pass and hugging the river Noi you'll find these wonderful wooden chalets - very spacious (I was solo) - and quite fun to investigate on arrival. There was a large terrace, even a seated veranda out front and further still, an extra covered and lighted seated area (which also included a plug socket) to the side of the chalet. Food was simple, but delicious! And, good coffee! There are some things to consider: Location: now, BaanRai is out in the sticks (as you're probably aware), but don't let this put you off if you don't drive - the staff are happy to organise a ride for you in quick fashion. Pop into a local village shop - done. Ride to-and-from an attraction - done. Guided tour - done. Language: little to no English is spoken out this way. Now, I've been learning Thai for a couple of months and I'm still terrible, but with that and google translate - no problems. Also, big plus is Pete, whom will contact you before you arrive and he speaks great English and is also very fast to respond to any queries you may have! It's a simpler life out there and it shows. But I loved it. And to see so many stars in the sky!

The location, although out of the way, was superb, right on the river. I'd done research on google maps on the route, but needn't have bothered because it was well signposted. The architecture is what I'd describe as 'village Thai', a bit rough, but very appealing. Inside was dark, but with lights on, glowed. The beds were on low decks, very Thai. The dinner, a hot pot, or steam boat, was very nice, and a small was plenty for me, even though I have a big appetite. I wanted to order larger, but the lady in reception talked me out of it. Breakfast was plentiful, both hot and continental pastries. Wifi was fast and reliable.

I liked everything.
