Catherine is the owner and lady and 'receptionist' of this castle from the 18th century who combined classic and modern elements. The place is a revelation in all respects: it is beautiful, well restored, spacious rooms watching the big garden with all the facilities one may expect: coffee, tea etc. But also a variety of wines are evadible at reasonable costs. An enormous bathroom, free parking on the premisses and a vary nice personal French breakfast served in a luxury room with open fire overlooking both sides the castle completes is all. What stands out most is the care, consideration and service of Catherine. In her own gentle almost quiet way she receives you as a very welcome guest. A simple call at arrival brought her out from the garden with her car in a minute. She shows you around, even wrote a booklet on the history of the castle and helped you to choose a restaurant of your wishes in this natural area, with rolling hills an woods around you. The front doors stays locked so your belongings in the rooms are very safe. You feel like royalty staying here!

The only thing that we did not like was leaving after one night. It is wise to stay longer to enjoy the castle and the region with Medeaval town from which Victor Hugo originated. The seaside is also worth a visit.

We have just returned from a two night stay here. The house and grounds are magnificent and our bedroom was so comfortable in every aspect. Caterina our hostess has an eye for detail...so much thought has gone into providing an exceptional experience for guests during their stay. There is a swimming pool and robes and towels are provided. Breakfast was superb and taken outside in the beautiful landscaped gardens. The village of Doudeauville is very pretty and there are several restaurants within about 10-15mins drive. This is definitely somewhere we would return to and recommend. Splendid!

Having stayed there on the first night of our trip we knew exactly what to expect and it didn't disappoint. Having driven over five hours through a heatwave just the thought of getting into the swimming pool kept us going. Catherine was there to greet us with a smile and asked about our trip. We are already planning to go back for a long weekend.

Hard to find something that we didn't like, took me a while to work out how the windows fully opened, hardly a problem.

A stunning chateau set in the heart of the French countryside. A very welcoming host, huge bedrooms and bathrooms, all spotlessly clean. The pool area was peaceful and a great sun trap! The breakfasts were brilliant with a huge selection of classic French options!

Not a criticism of the property, but it’s very remote, so you’ll need a car to get around (nearest restaurants are 10/15 minutes away)!

The short stay with friends at Domaine de la Course was probably the most memorable leisure break we have ever experienced. Everything about our stay was exceptional. Catherine, the proprietor, was warm, welcoming and so helpful, and her beautiful chateau and its grounds were simply magnificent. An absolute gem in the wonderful French countryside.

Everything was faultless!

Everything! From the warm, friendly welcome from Catherine, who is the perfect host! We speak very little French, Catherine was on hand to help with everything, even suggesting restaurants and places to visit, to the beautiful setting and our top floor room, which was stunning. A perfect place to relax, unwind and recharge.

Nothing at all

Loved this place, relaxing and beautiful, the hosts are lovely and really helpful. We switched off for 2 days and would definitely come back. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, lovely room, great breakfast and peace & quiet. Ideal if you want to just relax and take the car to nearby towns.

Difficult for taxis, but understandable as in a lovely French village.

From the moment you arrive you just totally relax. Getting into the swimming pool helps you unwind whether you have driven for an hour or six. The room had everything that you needed for an overnight stay. Catherine, the host was just a delight and the breakfast she served was an excellent way to start the day.

Portable air conditioning would have helped sleeping.

Near a couple of small towns for shopping. Quiet, secure, well renovated, breakfast in garden, madam was very helpful & came up with some low fat natural yoghurt when we asked, which is helpful for gut health. She was also attentive to room ventillation when we had to eat breakfast inside due to bad weather. This was important to us, as well as being able to put together a snack in the kitchenette, since my husband was soon to go into hospital and needed to avoid any infections. This was a real treat for us. Some arrivals who are less prepared than us, and are just passing through, will also really appreciate having an aperol spritz whipped together for them on request, so thanks for making the place so special.

Many french B&Bs are offering splendid voluminous breakfasts, but they are high in sugar, unrefined carbs, fatty cheese & processed meat full of salt and nitrates.. ...but the more choice you offer, the more the temptation to stuff yourself ...you really will never please everyone....so guests really need to excercise restraint. I think it is best to offer a small amount of cut bread & mini croissant on the table & let guests help themselves to extras on the sideboard such as cutting a slice of cake, juice, wholefruit, meat, cheese and yoghurts. I do miss the occasional avocado on sourdough multigrain toast, but this is france. You are going to have a proper lunch, & avocados are mainly imported, and are probably full of dodgy chemicals and grown unethically.

The host, Catherine, is very welcoming, showing us to our room and giving us a tour of the facilities. The breakfast was excellent and served in a very nicely decorated dining room. The pool was lovely and warm. My wife used it on arrival and the next morning. Location convenient for exploring the coast and local villages. Very convenient stopover to/from the ferry at Calais
