Beautiful historic hotel in the picturesque town of Apalachicola. The room was beautifully decorated with a huge bathroom and tv and coffee machine. The staff were lovely and a special mention should go to Kassidy on the front desk who was so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time in Apalachicola putting together a detailed list of all the best things to see and do. We managed to fit almost everything in the 3 days we had there. Particular highlights were the coffee and chocolate shop, the beach which is about 15 minutes away by car, the botanical gardens and veterans garden and also the owl cafe. We used the free bike rental to go and explore the areas around the centre and it really is a beautiful place.
The design of the shower caused water to leak onto the floor.

Location, the old bar and the history. I love the deco.
The morning staff at the Franklin Cafe, were lacking in a game plan to wait on us, while they were all standing in the back of the cafe. I was hoping they were planning to wait on us. When we first got to the cafe, we were excited to start our day off with a really nice Saturday brunch. We sat ourselves when one of the staff greeted us and said sit anywhere you like. We sat down and waited 10 mins for menus. I had to literally ask for them. One of the staff a young guy sauntered past us went to the front to retrieve the menus. He put them in front of us, no greeting from him what's so ever, and walked off. We proceeded to wait another 10 mins. We ended up leaving and enjoying our breakfast somewhere else.

The Gibson is so well done in terms of matching the vibe of the town. It's got huge wrap-around porches with rocking chairs and rooms have windows and glass paned doors that open directly out onto the porch, making it easy to have your coffee there in the morning without having to go anywhere. We loved that they let in a lot of natural light, but if you are a light sleeper, you might ask if there are rooms that would be darker in the morning. The rooms themselves have a gorgeous coastal vibe with beadboard, shiplap and cool fixtures, and the bed was super comfy. Our dog friendly room was on the second floor and overlooked the main road, but we were not bothered by any noise. There is no elevator though, so if stairs are an issue, I would ask if there are ground level rooms.
Not a negative but just something to be aware of...If we travel here again I would try to get a larger room. I believe I read that every room is unique, and we did need a dog friendly room (which we REALLY appreciate) so that may have also been a factor. Ours had enough room for the bed and two nightstands with a bench and two chairs at the foot of the bed. It was very comfortable, but there was no space to work (admittedly not usually a concern for people on vacation). We were only there one night, so I ended up using the bed as a desk for my laptop. If we were to stay longer, I would ask about a larger room with a work space.

The location was perfect. Within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. The nostalgia and decor was amazing. Staff were very helpful and friendly. People in the town were also very friendly.
It was during winter, so it was VERY cold and the bathroom struggled to get even a little warm. Solid marble for floors, walls, and countertops. The tub was steel, so it took FOREVER for the water to warm up and to stay warm/hot. The tub was also VERY small. They should add a few soaking tubs to some of their rooms. And better pillows would be nice. The pillows were a bit firm. The restaurant at the Inn was out of a lot of food items, so choices were limited. The grits could definitely use some help, too watery.

Like the old time feel, dinner meal was very good.
I have traveled extensively in my working years (now retired), and stayed at the best and sometimes not 4 or 5 star. I was shocked to find that if your guest arrives early or plans to arrive early, you charge to get into the room earlier than check-in time. NEVER have I experienced this. If this room was ready and I was early, they would allow me to check in. If not, no problem because I realize I was early. But to charge for a room that might be ready and not let the guest check in is just nickel and diming people, in my opinion.

We evacuated from Tampa during Milton and found our stay delightful. A hidden gem in Appalachicola.
One room was street level while the second room was inside the main building on the third floor. My daughter and son-in-law heard cackling and strange singing the first night; it sounded like it was coming from the wall behind the bed. My son-in-law investigated the next morning, but found no adjacent room, only the outside of a brick wall. Very strange! No voices heard the next night.

Over-priced for what it is, which is an oasis in an economic wasteland. They send too many text notifications to check-in etc, and after you have spent time doing that, they make you do it again anyway. I hate being nickel and dimed, and I felt that was going on here, even though it is an expensive hotel to start with and has no competition for miles.
Get the breakfast right and make it 20% cheaper. Keep the bar open after 9pm. Stop forcing everyone to check-in on line before forcing them to check in for reals a second time.

The interior of the hot was very historic and tastefully decorated. The room was small but the bathroom was massive with a double shower. Everything was excellent but maybe a bit pricey for not having a pool (which is being built now). The bikes they were offering for free were great but it was too hot to ride unfortunately
The price was on the high side for not having a pool or breakfast included.

The food at The Gibson Inn is very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The Gibson Inn has loads of character and the rooms are very comfortable. We stayed over Thanksgiving and the buffet lunch they provided was excellent. Location, Apalachicola, is great and has lots of character too. Great shops and restaurants. It's very near to St. Georges Island which is lovely and well worth a visit.
I did find the mattress on the beds a little too soft. There is some construction going on at the hotel, as they are expanding their facilities. Imagine that will be going on for another 6 months, at least.

We love this historical inn and it's creeky stairs. This time we got a nice updated room with gorgeous bathroom. The bar is quaint with excellent bartenders. The receptionist helped get our bags upstairs. There is a nice breakfast in the sunny dining room.
Our room had no view and a bright light shining in through the blinds all night long. It was so quiet but then at 7 am all the door slamming.
