Beautiful place with charming common areas, lovely garden and amazing swimming pool. The kitchen is great, particularly of the restaurant during the evening (several steps above the daytime service or the barbecue). The Staff always strive to provide good service (even while they are clearly surpassed during the Tea House operating hours).

During the afternoons the Tea House crowd practically invade the property, with kids running wildly around the garden and even the swimming pool areas where guests are trying to relax. The staff tries to keep the situation under control but that is usually after the guests have been bothered. I would suggest forbidding access to the non guest crowd to the garden and pool areas.

The hotel is nice. staff is very attentive and well prepared to deal with all our needs/requests.

Breakfast. In a location as such, with local production dairy products and other high quality foods, we expected better and higher quality food at the breakfast table. We also borrowed bikes to pedal around. The location is excellent but the bikes were very poorly kept. We expected more from such an expensive hotel.

Beautiful gardens & pool

Room was very small with no coffee/tea making facilities. It was also very difficult to get the attention of the waiting staff since they were often deep in conversation with one another - the restaurant felt more like self service since we had to keep getting up to ask for drinks etc. checking out was also very long winded & painful due to the woman on the desk being tied up in a long & loud telephone conversation.

Last time I was here in winter, the cosy atmosphere, the open fire and the waffles... positive first impressions.

Now, in summer, other things matter: Lightness and service, both of which unfortunately do not match the price level. In the minibar there were drinks and sweets that had already been opened by the previous guest, the safe in the room can only be operated with a key, which you only get on request - including a penalty regulation to be signed if the key is lost. Otherwise, it is too small to store an iPad. Tomato mozzarella in the pool bar tasted of nothing, were both very dry. the booked room with balcony turned out to be a room with a public staircase in front, no sign of privacy of a balcony, completely wrongly categorised. All a bit of a shame, it's actually not that hard to move with the times without having to give up the quintessential character of an old house.

The hotel and grounds are totally charming, beautiful gardens and a wonderful setting. The food was wonderful in the breakfast room, lunch pavilion, and restaurant. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. I definitely intend to go back.

My stay at L'Auberge was quite possibly the best hotel experience of my life. Every aspect of the visit -- from the facilities to the amenities to the staff -- was truly exceptional.

Travelers should note that the rooms in the tower, while charming, are a bit small. If you are accommodating more than two people definitely spring for a suite.

stunningly beautiful building and grounds - more of a home from home and really tastefully decorated. Staff were excellent and even went out to get us English tea drinkers a kettle.

more of a trade off than a specific negative - the rooms in the tower were fun and with great views but they were fairly small. Well designed but a little cramped. Its a choice.

L'Auberge is one of our favorite places on Earth. We do not mind the 15 hour flight time, because in the end we are back again.
