The property is nicely maintained and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They offered assistance with wine tours and visits to the local area. The team speak english and very accommodating to specific needs & always attentive.
The breakfast times are limited to 8 - 10am, which didnt suit making office hours. It was difficult to get something to eat outside of set restaurant times which is 7pm to 9pm. There is only one restaurant in walking distance on the main road, which doesnt take people without a reservation.

One of the most exquisite stays we have ever had! The Chateau de Fontager is like something out of a postcard or Slim Aaron’s photograph - it is the most exquisite property, with breathtaking interiors, grounds and pool. After parking on the property in their large car park (electric car chargers are provided on the premises) we were welcomed by an incredibly friendly hotel staff team. We were then blown away by the beauty of the chateau itself, which had much character and charm; from the lobby to breakfast area and restaurant, to our spacious room. The hotel even had a fabulous little self serve bar that worked on an honesty system. The highlight of our stay however was the absolutely magnificent pool along with sauna facilities - it just took your breath away! Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely divine, and we just wish we could’ve stayed longer!

We had two four-bed suites, each for two persons. They were just perfect. So a bed for 2 persons was just very nice for a single person. Very nice suites. I would recommend these types of rooms cause in France the beds seem in general to be smaller than in other countries. We had an excellent 5-course dinner in the beautiful dining room. The staff were extremely friendly and made our stay and the dinner a memorable evening. The cook was a top cook.
The breakfast did not really meat our expectations. It was quite minimalistic and not really fresh (bread, coffee). However, the dinner the evening before was so good and the staff were so nice that it was kind of ok. Also to say, that the swimming-pool and other parts of the hotel were not usable since they were in renovation in May-2025

The grounds are beautiful and the staff are extremely helpful. We had a delayed flight which meant we didn't arrive until 3am and they made sure we could still get into our rooms at that time.
Minor things but the window blind was damaged which meant it didn't open. Also there is no air conditioning so when it is really hot during the day it can be difficult to cool the room down in the evening. They do provide a fan though.

Magnificent estate, beautiful gardens and massive elegant swimming pool - the chateau itself is also very impressive and imposing, if not quite our style. Friendly helpful staff (all Scandinavian!). Quiet. Ideal for our purposes - one night stopover en route north.
Nothing important - free tea/coffee was available in reception, but not in our room. Our room also was an internal one so only had a view of an internal walled space, rather than any of the wonderful garden...

The staff went out of their way to be helpful with a smile. The room was minimalist, great for a stopover with plenty of space. The pool was fantastic, so relaxing after a long drive. We thoroughly enjoyed supper on the terrasse. It was delicious.
As there is no air conditioning, it would have helped airflow if more windows had netting. There are lots of insects. Not enough surfaces in the bathroom to put toiletries.

The castle is beautiful, ot is very clean, the stuff is very kind and helpful.
There was no hairdryer in the bathroom, we had to ask for it at the reception. Would have expected it in this level of hotel. The restaurant was good. Didn't like the cold, plain atmosphere of the restaurant without tablecloths or any touch that would make it more worm or give an little spetial ambience.

The hotel was fabulous, with absolutely delightful staff, who could not have been more attentive. We had dinner at the hotel’s terrace restaurant and whilst the menu was short, the food was absolutely fantastic.
The hotel could have done with extra pillows. When we stayed, it was exceptionally hot, and being in a top floor room the rooms really could do with some sort of air conditioning.

Very charming old castle with a large swimming pool, outdoor terrace and live music in the evening. The staff were very friendly and most spoke perfect English. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.
Our room (115) did not have a bathroom door so if you like your privacy try to avoid that one. 117 was very large and had all its doors ☺️

The staff were really helpful and friendly, even when I arrived at 3am they had left clear instructions on how to get into my room and my luggage was already there waiting for me.
The restaurant didn't have a very big selection, although the standard of food was very good.
