*very nice hotel right in front of the beach. * very delicious breakfast with several options to choose from * overall very good food and drinks (lunch/dinner/cocktails). Natural juices are especially good. *the people at reception and jaime are super friendly and helpful all the time! Thank you so much guys! *they have a laundry service which surely helped us a lot* * after 10pm the hotel is usually very quiet, so you can rest and sleep. If you want party you can find it in some beach clubs nearby

*it's a little difficult to get there. Once you leave the main road the way to the hotel is long and open and when it rains it complicates things, especially if you have a “low car” *we were there in June-July… and there were a lot of mosquitoes!!! The “open concept “ of the hotel and rooms only helps the mosquitoes and is almost impossible to get rid of them.. even if the bed has mosquitoes net!! This applies not only to the hotel but to the area in general). It is very important that you have a mosquito repellent. *please note there is no air conditioning...only fans

Overall, really amazing stay. I stayed for 7 nights and felt like I was in a small boutique hotel. The hotel is close enough to everything yet far enough to feel like you could retreat. There is always light music playing with a great vibe. The staff is excellent and super helpful. Food (and drinks!) is great. Rooms are right outside the beach, only a few steps away. All of this especially good for the value.

Beds could be slightly comfier, but still slept very well.

Beautiful private beach I had the room right in front of the beach over there Bar. Very quiet and the view is magnificent.  There’s a beautiful sunrise from the beach.

Not that they can control it, but there’s a lot of dogs there on the beach. I love dogs, so no problem but they get a little aggressive with each other.

Amazing place! We read some reviews discouraging us from coming to palomino but we are so glad we came. It’s a special unique place and saying at this hotel made it even more special. The food here was great. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Many reviews say you can’t swim here which I guess yes it’s not a place to go for a full swim or snorkel but we definitely got in the waves and cooled off. Overall we would stay again.

It was pretty much perfect. The waves are really audible in the rooms which is a huge plus for most but if u get bothered by noise just be aware/bring ear plugs.

I can not say enough amazing things about this hotel and their incredible staff. This was our first time to Palomino, and we could not stop raving about this hotel! The hotel itself is pure relaxation, clean, comfortable, and perfectly located steps from the ocean, but the best part of this hotel was the staff. I love to see a space where everyone working there seems so genuinely happy to be a part of this little hotel family. You can sense the positive vibes, and we felt extremely welcome and well taken care of from the moment we arrived. Anderson and his team are absolutely lovely!! Even if you do not end up staying at this hotel, I highly recommend you stop by for dinner. Everything on the menu was delicious! And the hotel served up the best breakfast I’ve had in a Colombian hotel by far. Thank you so much MAKAO, for a relaxing and wonderful spring break stay ❤️

I recently stayed at Hotel Makao in Palomino with my full family, including my 2-year-old nephew, and had a generally pleasant experience. The hotel's location is fantastic, offering amazing beach access and chill vibes that made our stay truly relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, particularly Margarita, Jesus, and Jaime. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their exceptional service truly stood out and made a significant positive impact on our visit, especially in accommodating our young nephew's needs. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. Every area, from the lobby to the rooms, was well-maintained and spotless, reflecting the hotel's high standards.

One area that could use improvement is the temperature control in the upstairs rooms. The rooms were hotter than we would have liked, making the stay less comfortable. I would recommend considering the rooms downstairs which have air conditioning but no sea view, as they offer a more controlled and comfortable climate. Overall, Hotel Makao is a great place to stay with excellent service, cleanliness, and a prime location in Palomino. Just be mindful of the room options regarding temperature control for a more comfortable experience.

Intimate, cozy and beautifully elegant. Situated away from the party hostels but close enough to go explore easily in the evening. Everything is cleaned to the highest standard. Food is fresh, flavoured and delightful. Super practical facilities available when spending a day between the sea and the sun-bed , I.e. showers, toilets, with running hot water. Above all, the staff in Makao elevate it from a regular hotel to a family friendly experience. They are all brilliant, led by Anderson who is the nicest hotel manager. They all truly became friends.

Loved everything and everyone

Right on the water you could hear the ocean as you went to sleep and woke up. The staff is really good. They were helpful. They kept the place clean..

The food at the restaurant was very disappointing. I’ve been to two other hotels and this had the smallest menu and they closed our restaurant at nine. You couldn’t get a drink or anything past nine. Also, the room isn’t as nice as in the photos. It’s not bad. I just expected a little bit more. .

Beautiful beach hotel with an excellent relaxed vibe due to the great staff working there. The food and drinks were also very good. This hotel has a small private part of Palomino beach which is amazing for sunbathing and you can walk along the beach to get to Palomino town which means you can get the chilled vibes of the hotel by day and, if you want, can head into the town to enjoy the bars and restaurants at night.

What makes all the difference at this small hotel are the lovely and helpful people working here. Always ready to assist with our constant requests for transfers, restaurant recommendations and tips for activities. Their own restaurant is really good and we ended up eating here several times as it was far better than any food we had in Palomino town. The downstairs rooms are simple but fine and with air conditioning whereas the upstairs rooms are a bit fancier, have a better view but no air con. And if you’re a dog lover, there are a couple of really cute resident puppies.
