Retro Box was an unexpectedly positive experience. The owners managed to shade and insulate the metal containers in a way that it was nice and cool inside. There were quite a few rooms overlooking the pool (ours didn't, but it was better this way as those seemed a little bit smaller). Breakfast was delicious, staff were polite, beds were comfortable - we loved it so much that we were the last ones to check out, after reluctantly stopping all that pleasant lounging pool side. In short, we loved it, and would highly recommend it to others. Great job, 👍 well done!

We stayed just one night whilst passing through to catch the early morning ferry to Koh Tao. Chumphon was a lovely surprise - we headed to the night market and had some of the best pad Thai in all of Thailand! Must visit. The hotel was clean, comfortable and great value for money. The pool was a bonus! We didn’t try breakfast as we left so early for the ferry - but again it was a great location as we could walk to the train station in 15 mins to catch the bus to the ferry terminal. All in all - highly recommend.

The rooms are exceptionally clean. Breakfast is ok. Complimentary coffee & tea always available I liked the novelty of stepping from our room into the pool, but the disadvantage of that is that anyone else in the pool is right outside your door.

The container rooms are tiny & cramped, and piled 2 stories high all around the pool, so the whole place has a claustrophobic feeling. Expensive for what you get.

Needed somewhere to drop bags and chill for a few hours while we waited for the night train to Bangkok so didnt stay the whole night. For £17 we couldnt go wrong. It's a cool little hotel made from containers so perfect for this purpose. The swimming pool was fab to cool off in, and the owner was lovely - he arranged and paid for our cab to the station as we werent staying the whole night! There was free coffee available and our child LOVED the lucky dip game.

Nothing - it suited our purpose perfectly. I imagine the room could get a little hot if you stayed, its very small but perfect if you just wanted to get your head down, or like us, to drop bags while we grabbed food and swam.

Perfect location . Breakfast was excellent the staff were very friendly and helpful very professional . The hotel has lots of very nice extras it’s well thought out . Very clean everywhere and the swimming pool just made it extra special .

Absolutely nothing . I highly recommend it and will be coming back .

It was super clean, the price was amazing, the pool was clean and cool, the staff were so polite and welcoming. Plenty of eating options around.

Lovely quirky place. Breakfast was basic but ok.wifi good on the balcony not so good in the room

The ac in the box really struggled to keep it cool. Felt a tad he warm all the time (this coming from a couple that prefer a good fan than ac)

It had a cool funky style and was tucked off the road and was quiet, staff was friendly and helpful.

The bed was firm, which I love but i imagine some people may not enjoy that.

The shipping container room was very good and unique and over looked the pool with its own balcony and seat. The pool was very clean and a good size. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a good size and shower very good. Location was good near restaurants and market and 5 minutes walk to the van in the morning. The staff were good and helped me out with some questions I had and called the van company to check a van was going on this day. I think it was good value for the money and a nice place to stop for a night on my way south and I would recommend this hotel.

My only complaint was the airconditioner had a loud clicking sound which made it difficult to sleep but I told the reception staff so hopefully it was fixed.

The Ac was working but could be better since the container you sleep in is made out of stee. Sun and steel is making the room a bit hot
