We had to make a very late booking as arriving in Chatellerault the hotel we had booked turned out to be shut!!! L'Univers stepped into the breach at 8.30pm. Receptionist very friendly and helpful. Room clean and bed comfortable. Good breakfast. Free parking directly outside (until 10am) Centrally located with restaurants nearby.

All good - rooms might be hot in the height of summer as no aircon, was a fan in our room.

Central location. It was an extremely hot day. However we actually didn't need to close the curtains it was a lovely comfortable room. New shower fitted. Spotlessly clean. Large fan in room. Comfy bed. We could park right outside for free after 6pm. We didn't eat breakfast. Reception is only manned at 4pm. So don't arrive early as parking regulations could be as much as 25 euros for all night. When there's no need as the Parking has a two hour restriction limit yet it's free after 6pm. If you arrive at 5pm get a ticket from the machine for one hr free. Pretty aspect. The Hotelier kindly recommended two restaurants in town to dine at. Which we did. And enjoyed.

It’s in the center of town. Very friendly people. We had an early check in. Which was very nice because it was cold and we were on a bicycle tour. Very traditional French hotel with cracking floors and a very small and slow elevator. Lots of 70’ties charme. But also very clean and a very good and new bed. An there is a inside bicycle storage at a low fee. Breakfast was great.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful. He even helped me with the parking meter. There was plenty of cheap public parking outside and opposite the hotel as well as a large public carpark very nearby. The room was extremely comfortable.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is good with a selection of fruit cereals d bread etc.

Nothing I have stayed at this hotel many times and highly recommend it

A lovely welcome from a very charming French cheery lady. The rooms looked to be refurbished. Great bathroom with everything you need. All a bit grey..... but that is all. Just steps from the town. We ate at, La Ferme Saint Jaques, which was fabulous. The town was a little disappointing.

This is a lovely hotel in the centre of town close to the bars and restaurants. The managers are really friendly. When I arrived on my motorcycle the manager asked if I wanted to park it in his private garage which I did. I did not ask or expect this as there is adequate parking outside but it was most appreciated knowing my bike would not be on the street all night.

I was on my own so was fine. However there was no door between the toilet/shower room, which would mean no privacy if there were two of you. The addition of a sliding door would be advantageous, and give a little privacy.

Room was cosy but really nice. Staff were excellent and most helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice.

Wooden floors were noisy, would have been better with carpets.

Excellent location. Third floor room with views out over the street and square. Comfortable bed and good shower. Extremely clean. Easy to park nearby.

The owners went out of their way to find parking for our cars and booked a table for us at a nearby restaurant when almost everything in town was closed for a bank holiday. They were amazing. The location was great for walking into town.
