I had a delightful one-night stay at Hostal Cortes and was thoroughly impressed by the warmth and comfort it offered. If you're looking for a quiet, clean, and centrally located place to stay in Cuenca, this hostal is a hidden treasure! The room was spotless, cozy, and beautifully simple, with two very comfortable beds and just the right amount of space to relax. I especially appreciated the peaceful ambiance — perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the historic old town. The location is fantastic — a short walk from Cuenca’s main attractions, shops, and restaurants. It made it easy to soak in the city’s unique charm without needing transportation. The staff were kind and helpful, offering a smooth check-in and local tips that made my short stay even more enjoyable. Their friendly attitude made me feel genuinely welcomed. For anyone visiting Cuenca and wanting excellent value, a great night’s rest, and kind hospitality — Hostal Cortes is a perfect choice. Highly recommended!
I like everything.

Hostal Cortes was easy to find, being near the bus-stop and bus station and with clear street signage. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, as were those in the breakfast area. To get to the Old Quarter of Cuenca take the bus or walk. Walking is the best way to see this beautiful town, although the way to Plaza Mayor is uphill and takes about half an hour if not stopping along the way.
Nothing, all good. Beware that if getting the bus to or from the AVE railway station Fernando Zobel, take the line 10 bus, not line 1 as google suggests.

The property was centrally located with only a short walk to the old town. Parking at the Hostel was secure and excellent value. Breakfast was simple, tasty and again good value. Our room was large and clean with a good size bathroom that included a small bath and lots of hot water - great on a cold couple of November days!
Corridor noise is inevitable on tiled floors, so although no one was deliberately noisy sound carried and early departures or late returns to rooms did disturb us, as did the service room next door - again no one was deliberately disrespectful- just the opposite, Hostal staff were polite, helpful and friendly

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had some good choices and was worth the 3 euro price. You can also bring food from the supermarket to eat in the dining area in tje evening and sit at the table. They have a microwave. Clean rooms. Central location to everything. Good price.
I would stay here again but walls are thin so if person in next room is noisy, you will hear them. I would just bring earplugs.

Lovely little breakfast restaurant downstairs Bathtub was nice and water came out fast
There was an elderly group from Navarra who came in at night between 10 and 11 There were very boisterous and talked loudly in the halls. Enough to wake the dead. Also as my daughter decided to come with after I made the booking, my hotel was full, and we had to find her another hotel. I asked if we could put another bed in my room as we didn't mind being a bit squishy, and the answer was no... not possible. When I got to the hotel, I realized it had lots of floor space for another bed... not sure what that was about. Plumbing pretty noisy but hey it's Spain

Very quiet and private. Desk staff were friendly ., in particular the main girl I saw was Christina … always a smile and very helpful. Although I tried to speak in Spanish …. She had some English. Extremely helpful with all things like where to eat .. when museums were open and where. Following up with booking taxi to the train etc. Very close walk to the dinosaur museum. Great choice to visit. Has a lot in there and well situated atop the Mont to view the city. Outdoor grass area , bistro , restaurant and lots of information inside (archeological/paleo ….. ) etc. Wow. Well done
It would have been nice to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening (but maybe they didn’t have a license. ?). I saw one evening there were people eating and having an evening drink and I asked Christina if it was possible. She responded that it was fine but people needed to bring in their own bottles and food etc. So still Possible …

An excellent room, double bed, charming decor. Elevator worked, shower great. Very little noise. Excellent, kind staff = front desk, breakfast, and cleaners. Some spoke better English than others, but we communicated. I would recommend to anyone who wants good value a walkable distance to old Cuenca. There are also eating and drinking establishments just 2 streets away. However, any reports of it being close to the train station are false. The old train station nearby is CLOSED. Cuenca is served by Fernando Zobel station about 10 miles from the hotel. It is in the country away from the tourist and university areas. It's about €10 ride to Hostel Cortes ( If you don't speak Spanish it could be tricky getting a taxi. The hotel will call one for you when you need to go back out.) I was delighted with my stay & CUENCA is enchanting.

Friendly staff. Easy parking once I figured it out. Make sure to book this in advance. To get in, pull into the green gate just after the hotel and press the intercom button on the wall on the left. Exceptionally clean. Great price and setup for a single female traveler. Walked to things in town easily. Loved 12pm checkout because I could get to the abstract art museum when it opened at 10am and back by walking prior to having to checkout. Nothing fancy here, just all the required basics. Cleanliness, great location, affordable, safety, kindness.
Woke up when guests were in the hallway at 2am. Being earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

The room was very good and the bathroom had an excellent shower, hot water and very private. The location is great, just 15 -20 min from the train station and really close to the Old Town. I really enjoyed staying there.
Breakfast is not included but there is an offer for a small amount of money, so perhaps the hostel could increase the price for the night a little and include the breakfast that is already offered for that small amount of money. But except for that, everything was awesome.

This hostal had the best value for money I have stayed in. We arrived with bicycles and the staff were so helpful giving us a place to store the bikes and being patient as we ‘unloaded’. The room was spacious and clean. It wasn’t modern but this was not a problem for us. Breakfast also was excellent value. There was 24 hour reception so there were never worries about getting in and out.
Nothing.
