This hotel is wonderful, with the perfect combination of old world charm and modern conveniences. The location right on the harbour is perfect. We spent 3 weeks there and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was exceptional - very friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were excellent. The only drawback was loud music on Saturday nights from a nearby disco, continuing into the early morning hours. Apparently this affects only the rooms at the front, so be sure to either ask about it or bring good earplugs. Also, some of the showers are a bit small, so if you're a larger person, be sure to ask for a room with a larger shower.

Impressive! Fabulous! Only Lord Byron can give a better description (after all it's a 19th Century building with great upgrade). Decor, Atmosphere, Service, Breakfast all more than expected. Throw in location to restaurants, port etc you can't go wrong. Yassou Thanassi (hope I didn't get hosts name wrong).

I'm ok with it, but there is no lift-but host will give you a hand. Good service.

What a fantastic old building and our room had a sea view with large double opening windows. Great location right on the sea front. All restaurants, cafes, shops and bars right on our doorstep and the double glazing shuts out the noise.

The stairs are a little challenging and the bathroom a bit of a squeeze.

Very nice welcoming reception and hosts, extraordinary breakfast (prepared to order from a menu, on request due to extrordinary circumstances even outside set hours), calm and clean room, balcony for everyone to the harbour, for relaxing in the evening, stable and fast wireless, help with the baggage, nice and above-standard room and bathroom accessories, comfi bed not causing any problems for my spine, nice location on harbour bay with view of old town. Acustically tight windows even kept Friday night buzz from harbourfront outside. Bars and grocery store next door.

I would have liked to have more time to stay, but the week was over too quickly.

Location was superb right on the waterfront of Ermoupolis many rooms enjoy unlimited sea views of bay and the hills above making it a postcard perfect location. This is a very historic aristocratic mansion kept in excellent condition a perfect blend of traditional style with modern facilities and comforts. Professional staff very knowledgeable with spot on recommendations for sightseeing restaurants and more, truly every advise was with no doubt excellent! Breakfast was very generous, very tasty large portions and great variety of choices. Excellent location service and atmosphere will be back for sure! The top shared balcony is postcard perfect ! From the moment we arrived from the Blue Star Ferry, our group of 11 family and friends were treated to the best level of hospitality. This family-owned and staffed hotel met all of our needs. Centrally located along the port, with many shops and restaurants throughout Ermoupoli within easy walking distance. While our guest rooms were upstairs, staff swiftly carried our luggage up to each of our 7 rooms. We did have a group member with an injured back who was placed in a room with the least amount of steps. The beautifully restored building was well-furnished in both the public areas as well as individual guest rooms. Our triple room looked out over the taverna below, and the port of Ermoupoli, Syros. While the taverna had patrons into the evening, the double-pane windows kept our room quiet. Room a/c worked well to keeps a comfortable temperature, too. On the uppermost floor, there is a large living room with a couches and upholstered chairs arranged throughout. A small balcony leads off this common area. We enjoyed meeting together with others in this area. Breakfast was served from 8:00 - 10:30 am daily. Freshly squeezed orange juice started my day. Greek yogurt drizzled with Greek honey and walnuts was also a highly anticipated morning treat. Eggs, croissants, cereal, fresh fruit, toast and jam, and coffee/tea rounds out the offerings. Make sure you don't skip it. I cannot rave enough about the fantastic staff at the Aktaion Hotel! Every person we interacted with was kind, helpful, and helped exceed all of our group's needs.

Exceptional staff. Hospitable atmosphere. The staff cared for our comfort and they've done everything they can to make us feel welcome without being tiring. They respected our privacy and our time during our holidays. The building was astonishing and the rooms absolutely clean. Everyday. The important thing for a hotelier is to constantly try to reach one level above what one's property formally has. Aktaion Hotel in Syros is doing just that.

This is a beautiful yet unusual property. The staff are absolutely incredible. They are very inviting and most helpful and accommodating. We arrived around 9pm and after arriving at the property we were greeted by a very kind and enthusiastic host.

We booked a room with a larger bed for my husband and I, and our two little ones who are 3y and 1y. The door to our room was on the small side, so there is no walking in the room directly, especially if you’re holding a bag, or a baby, but we made it work. In our room there was no place to fit a crib or playpen so all 4 of us smushed into the bed. It was cozy but a bit uncomfortable.

Beautiful hotel with super location next to marina. Spacious rooms, great breakfast where everything is cooked to order and warm and friendly staff. When next time in Syros will definitely return here. Can highly recommend!

Everything went smoothly.

Friendly, helpful staff. The cleaner did a very thorough job and deserved a good tip. Breakfast varied and plentiful. Room very comfortable. We were initially disappointed not to be able to book a sea view room, but on reflection our rear room was quieter and did not have the fierce afternoon sun. Everyone mentions the stairs - but they are a feature! I have a very arthritic knee and walk with a stick / but managed to go up and down three times each of the six days we were there. Not a negative / you know they are there: just roll with it!
