I enjoyed the King size bed in my room, the window view that showed the town. It was nice to have Denny's inside the hotel as it was convenient to grab breakfast on way out each morning. The extra blanket stored in the closet was also nice, nice not having to request anything as it was all there.
The toilet being so close to the shower. The bathroom just felt really small and the small 8 inch side table next to the bed would be nice if it was big enough to hold a PC or maybe just provide a table in the rooms.

The drink tickets and breakfast really add value for the rate. Our beds were comfortable, bedding clean and room and bathroom were clean. The maintenance staff was quick to come to our rome twice to fix the entry door and the TV remote.
Original assigned room(303) has a cooling heating unit badly in need of servicing. VERY loud sound coming from the unit. Moved to room 515 without a challenge, but the entry door did not allow our key to open the door. Locking mechanism needed batteries. The TV remote needed batteries and did not work propeerly after batteries were changed out. We had a good 30 to 45 minute delay in getting into a room and maintenance issues.

ALL the rooms are NO smoking rooms. The room had a queen size bed and was comfortable. In the room was an extra pillow and blanket, if needed. blow dryer, and a coffee maker. I liked that it had hooks on the wall to hang your coats. There was also 2 counter height shelving units without doors to store your items in or put stuff on top. The room was a nice size that had been updated was clean and looked very nice. The window did face the street with all the neon lights, however the window had updated wood blinds & blackout curtains so NO light shined through while we were sleeping. The elevator worked well and was updated to a wood rustic theme. This hotel has a lot of history so I would encourage you to look up its past. Some of the history is that it was the tallest building in Nevada for its time and it was the first fireproof building. They have put lots of historical items and pictures on every floor. We did not have a pet but they did allow pets They have security camera around the outside of the building and in the parking lot behind the building. We were traveling with a car full of items and 2 bikes attached to our trunk. This made us feel better about our items being safe. They also stated that they do not have problems. The main casino is exactly what you would expect. Bar, smoke, gambling. They have a Denny's located on the main floor. The sever was very friendly and the food just what you would expect from Denny's. They also have a variety of good restaurants located very close, we walked to The RACK which was about a block and a half away and was excellent. We only stayed on night and were very happy with this hotel. It was exactly what we expected for a 1929 building.
The heating unit worked well but at some point in the night it started to make noise so we had to turn it off until the morning. I had a glass of wine at the bar. I think the box of Franz wine was old because it didn't taste well and was served in a water glass.

If you happen to want to stay for a week, the suites-- which are really just rooms with slightly better views and somewhat nicer furniture-- have really big dressers you might find convenient. Ely is still a surprisingly frontier town in many ways, so what's available will be modest-- but don't be afraid to ask, you will sometimes be surprised. The staff tries pretty hard to make people happy. Also, late check-in isn't a problem here as long as you let them know what's going on first. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Nobody has to call "corporate" here, but they do need to know what's going on.
Installing WiFi in buildings like this is tricky, and this one is no exception. Plan to use a cellular bridge. The suites on the top floor are your best bet for cellular, but bring sweaters in the winter, as these rooms have great views but get chilly. Please keep in mind that "suite" is relative; the price increase is usually minor, and it gets you a pleasant but modest bump, not a multi-room extravaganza.

I loved that it was a historical hotel. The rooms were remodeled in a modern look. Our view looked out on Main Street. That was cool. The beds were comfortable. It was close to most of the history places in Ely and only a mile from the train station. It is located in a good place to get around anywhere in Ely. Ely has some neat murals downtown to walk around and check out. The hotel does have some neat decor and a walk of fame outside. The hotel had plenty of parking in the back and did offer complimentary drinks for a beer or margarita at their bar.
I am not a big fan of Denny's; however, the hotel does offer a free Grand Slam breakfast with your room. If you want something different, it is $5.00 off. The hotel says it's nonsmoking, but the casino part does smell of cigarette smoke. Also, it was built in 1907.

I originally booked this hotel but had requested a room on the lowest floor but when I got there they had a room on the 5th floor for us.My daughter who came with me had a panic attack when we went to the room so we asked for a refund. The staff who helped us was SOOOO helpful, she asked if we wanted a room at their sister hotel 4 7's and we said yes. THE ROOM WAS PERFECT!! So grateful that they understood and helped us find the right room. Would stay there again!!
Would of been great if there had been a breakfast available. When we left there was no one working at the front desk so we had to go back to the sister hotel, Hotel Nevada to turn our key in.

Very helpful staff. Stay included glass of wine at the bar and breakfast at Denny's. Bedroom was practical with shelf for items, great shower with large head & hot water, excellent shampoo, gym had good kettle bell weights and Precor elliptical walker and treadmill with massage roller, step, stretchy bands - enough for a great workout and better to have free weights than ill- maintained weight machines. So kudos to gym designer. Keurig selection of coffee and green tea was good. Staff all very helpful. Great historic vibe.
We didn't need a fridge or microwave or swimming pool - if you need these we didn't have them. It would be good if gym door would open with room key rather than needing an extra key.

The room was clean and the remodel is nice. ALl the staff were friendly. I liked the bar comp tickets and Denny's coupon, although the bread was mouldy with my breakfast, and the Denny's part was not a good experience.
What I really really really didn't like, is the scent in the laundry. I was smelling it all night, and couldn't get away from it because I was wrapped in it. We really don't need scents in laundry detergent....it's toxic and offensive.

Ample parking and right in downtown. Restaurant on the property was convenient. I don’t gamble so the casino didn’t interest me. I was in town for a heritage train ride.
Being built in 1929 it had small rooms, so bathroom was confining. However already knowing this I booked this hotel as I wanted to stay in an older hotel for the experience. Very nicely updated as it is and nicely decorated with items from a by gone era.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs even though Booking.com had messed up our reservation (they had booked us for 2 rooms). I did get in touch with Booking.com and they said (twice) that they had sent a message to the hotel to rectify the problem. The hotel said they would need that message to rectify it but, even though they didn't get the message, they over-rode the system to take care of us. Also, after we got our room, our neighbors were a large family with young, LOUD, children. After a couple of hours of this, we very nicely voiced concern with the front desk. We didn't want to cause trouble but the front desk was very understanding and moved us to another room which turned out to be much nicer. Obviously, we gave the clerk a nice tip. She deserved it!
